Pam's unreal Thai
Where do you recommend for Thai? (I'm visiting in Sept and had Pam Real Thai on my list since I heard they were known for their papaya salad)

Japanese Spicy Curry & Pork, where is it? SEA
Yes, its spicy. You can ask for it to be spicier if you want.
Maui restaurant suggestions for a local
I grew up on Oahu, but have lived in Seattle for the past six years (sadly). I'm going home for the holidays, and taking a mini trip with my boyfriend, who's from Seattle, to Maui for his first time. I've only been to Maui a handful of times, and we usually stay with family -- Aunty does all the cooking. So besides Tasty Crust and Komoda's bakery, I haven't really had the chance to eat out in Maui.
We're going to be there for 3 days, right before New Year's... any suggestions? We're picky about fresh sushi / seafood, but other than that, we just really enjoy good food. We're staying in Kihei and Makawao... Help!
Mahalo.
Takoyaki in Seattle
Genki sushi in Queen Anne has takoyaki. They're the convenyor belt sushi place, but their takoyaki is good -- just make sure its fresh. If it sits out too long, its horrible!
Vancouver Downtown
Let me know if you're ever in Seattle or Honolulu and need rec's. I'd be happy to return the favor.
Vancouver Downtown
Also want to post about my visit to Vancouver two weekends ago --
Go Fish -- Went there for lunch. Their halibut is very tasty and moist, and fries weren't as bad as some people claim. Definitely buy extra tartar sauce. Overall good place for fish and chips!
Lime -- I was blown away. We decided to let the chef prepare whatever they wanted for us. and everything served to use was delicious. The fish was exceptionally fresh, and the sushi rolls were amazing. I cannot begin the describe how good the miso-marinated sablefish was. I could've eaten 5 servings of that alone! I'm not big fan of sake, but they served us their house-made sake, and it was delicious -- even ordered two more glasses! When I go back to Vancouver, I'm DEFINITELY going here -- hands down one of the best Japanese restarants I've ever been to.
Golden Ocean -- Went there for dim sum. You can definitely taste the freshness of the pork. And overall, good dim sum experience and very inexpensive!
La Buca -- Excellent Italian. My boyfriend's dish was a pasta in a rich meat sauce, and I couldn't stop picking off his plate. He loved the veal osso buco I ordered, so we switched halfway through dinner. Their desserts were divine -- and we ordered two. Great experience!
Japadog -- Had to give in to try this place, even though I'm not a hot dog fan. It was very tasty and different, and I liked the flavor combinations. Miso-mayo is the way to go.
Thanks to grayelf for all the recommendations. You hit it on the head!
Vancouver Downtown
Thanks for all the responses! I really appreciate the input, and I'll definitely be visiting one of these this weekend. I'll respond after my holiday. Thanx.
Vancouver Downtown
I, too, am going to Vancouver for the long weekend. I really wanted to find a good Portuguese restaurant, and heard that a lot have closed. Senova was recommended by one person, but I read some reviews that question its Portuguese authenticity. Indeed, the menu looks more French inspirsed. Any other suggestions for good Portuguese restaurants in Vancouver? I've got a car and am willing to travel. Thank you!
Weekend Vancouver trip
We'll be staying at the Hyatt in downtown Vancouver, and we're driving up from Seattle, so we'll have our car.
Thanks for the recommendations. We're definitely going to try Lime for sushi, and Golden Ocean for dim sum -- gotta love the carts scene! I've also heard good things about La Buca, so that will probably be our Italian place.
Weekend Vancouver trip
This is probably my 5th+ trip to Vancouver, but never have I reached out to find good restaurants in the city. I'm being proactive this time. We're looking for the following "best of Vancouver" restaurants...
Brunch buffet (I can't count how many people have recommended buffets based on quantity -- I hate this. For me, its all about quality)
Italian (Moderately priced, but willing to spend a little more for a good dish. I'm not sure if Vancouver has any great Italian restaurants -- I prefer Southern Italian)
Portguese (I have never tried Portuguese food outside of my grandmother's cooking, so I'm open to suggestions. I've heard Vancouver boasts a large Portuguese population)
Sushi (My boyfriend and I are VERY picky when it comes to sushi -- his mom is from Japan. We prefer fresh, rather than fancy fusion rolls. We heard Tojo and Octopus Garden were good.)
Dim Sum (Basic, but good -- we're newbies to the dim sum scene)
Also want to know about the Richmond Saturday Night market. Is it worth going? We're big fans of Japanese, Cantonese, and Thai food.
Any 'can't miss' spots on Granville Island?
Thank you!
Kaya Asian BBQ & Grill - Korean in Shoreline
Unimpressed.
My boyfriend and I went here on the recommendation of two people. We ordered the bulgogi and galbi, along with the jab chae. The galbi was very good, but the bulgogi was the driest barbeque I've ever had. I was very disappointmented. The jab chae was much to gooey, and lacked flavor.
Atmosphere and service is outstanding. The waiters were really nice, and the decor was cool. Maybe this is why people like it? I just don't see it. Old Korean Village nearby is much better.
4 guys, 1 night business, Seattle/Bellevue
El Gaucho is pricey, but totally worth it for steaks. Another good place is the Metropolitan Grill. Both in Seattle.
Joey's is good in Bellevue.
Tap House may be good for lunch in Bellevue. They have some great lunch specials.
Your Favorite Bakery...
Grand Central Bakery in Pioneer Square -- Best bread pudding ever!
Hoffman's in Kirkland -- best German chocolate cake!
Top Pot in Seattle -- really good doughnuts
Dahlia Bakery in Seattle -- awesome cookies
Japanese Spicy Curry & Pork, where is it? SEA
HaNa on Broadway in Seattle has a really good Pork Katsu Curry. My boyfriend's mom is from Japan, and she agrees that this is one of the best places for curry in Seattle.
Seattle Breakfast
Stayed at this hotel six years ago, and ate breakfast there. Since then, I've tried many places in Seattle for breakfast, and must admit that they still make it on my top ten list.
Best Panckes in Seattle
I have found many great breakfast places -- Coastal Kitchen, Roxy's, Gerlandine's -- But have yet to find the best or really great pancakes in Seattle. Any suggestions?
