Dim Sum on Long Island?
Any recommendations for dim sum on LI? We are in Huntington but willing to drive up to 30 minutes.
Heard good things about Fortune Wheel in Levittown? Any comments?
Thanks.
Huntington Fish Market?
Quality was good, but not much of a selection. Jeff's, up the road, has more of a selection and more local catches.
Huntington Fish Market?
What about Marty's Gourmet Seafood on NY Ave? Anyone have any comments on this place?
HELP... Who remembers or knows if this place still exists...
Doesn't fit your two-name criteria, but how about Patsy's (not the pizza place).
Check out menupages.com to search.
Huntington Fish Market?
Just moved to the area and looking for a good place to buy fresh fish (for cooking at home).
Also, any other tidbits, websites that talk about good food in the area (restaurants or markets), please passa along.
Thanks.
Tamale women in midtown
I came across two women selling tamales in the morning in midtown (7th ave, mid-50s). Chk and pork...very good.
The only problem is that they are not always there. Anyone know anything about these women?
Any other street goodies to know about in the area?
Best of the Cape 2009
I'm heading to Wellfleet soon and am curious how you go about picking your own oysters. Do you need a license? Where? How? Very interested in doing this if possible.
Wellfleet area eats?
Thanks all.
When it comes to lobster rolls on Cape Cod, what is the norm? Mayo or butter? Are they equally represented?
Wellfleet area eats?
Looking for good eats in Wellfleet, MA on Cape Cod...restaurants as well as markets.
We're going to be here all of next week and would like to do a mix of going out and cooking on our own (we'll have a grill).
Breakfast? Seafood? Meat? Ice cream? Chowder? Is there a local delicacy?
We'll have a car and can travel but would like to keep it under 20 mins (one-way).
Thanks.
Alternatives to Mackerel on UWS
What's a good alternative to whole mackerel? I can usually find it at Citarella and sometimes Fairway, but not always. Is there another fish that is similar?
Thanks.
What are they foraging for in Central Park?
I've seen a few people picking through leaves in Central Park, looking for white "pods".
I've heard that it's a delicacy. Anyone know what these are?
Thanks.
Dallas BBQ and Mexican
Thanks to all for the recs, unfortunately we only had 1 open meal and we headed to Feedstore. Ribs, brisket and hot links plus some sides. Everything was good..not great, but good.
Ribs were tasty but a bit too soft; brisket a little dry; links had some nice flavor and were the best of the bunch.
We were there around 3PM and the only ones in the place. Maybe would have been better at a busier time.
Dallas BBQ and Mexican
Searched this board for BBQ in Dallas area but can't find any recent posts...
Looking for BBQ (and maybe some Mexican) within 30 mins of DFW airport...is that a realistic request?
Coming in from NY, PA and Fla and looking for what Dallas/TX food is about.
Thanks in advance.
Work dinner for 15 - midtown, downtown
Anyone have some ideas in midtown or downtown for a nice place for dinner that can accomodate 15 people that won't be tight...we'll be moving around and switching seats...splitting into 2 or 3 tables is ok.
Cuisine is flexible - Italian, Asian, American, S. American, French, Greek, Asian (not sushi)...
Steering away from sushi or the not-so-ordinary (i.e. Tahitian, Ukrainian...).
Looking to keep it around $50-$75 pp.
Thinking about Bann in midtown, may Blue Ribbon Bakery (downstairs).
Romantic, not-too-formal, mid-priced suggestions in East Village, Lower East Side, and Chelsea
Heard good things about 26 Seats.
Looking for good but not pricey pasta
Haven't been in a few years, but Gnocco on E 10th was good and inexpensive.
Korean BBQ in midtown
Kunjip on 32nd...you should do a search in this board (Korea Town, K-Town, 32nd st) for more places.
Pre-booked reservations?
I've heard that there is a service that has booked reservations and you can call up an obtain these reservations (for a fee, I assume).
Anyone know the name of this service?
Thanks.
Kimbop in mid town?
Han Ah Reum is good, unfortunately I'm in the mid 50's, near 7th ave (I should have been more accurate).
Kimbop in mid town?
Any place in midtown have kim bop (a Korean snack (?) that looks like sushi but has cooked ingredients...veggies, meat...)?
Thanks.
Marylebone tube stop area
I will be working and staying very close to the Marylebone tube stop and in search of good London food that I cannot easily get in NYC (i.e. fish & chips, bangers & mash, Indian...).
If there is something else that I should try, by all means, I am open to suggestions.
Unfortunately I will not be able to venture far from this area.
Thanks.
Fairway Cafe/Steakhouse - any new reports?
Went there about 2 months ago. The food was good...I remember the prix-fixe being a good deal.
I don't think that Luger's has much to worry about, but this is a good place to go to for steak on the UWS.
Service was competent...they even brought us over a large glass of hot water to warm our infant's milk in.
**Best Pizza Slice in Midtown????
Sacco's on 9th.
Also, I think there was a thread just a week or 3 ago that asked this same question. You should be able to do a search and find it.
Maria Pia or Cara Mia?
I agree with the food recommendation for Maria Pia - the calamari app is darn good. However, this place gets kind of crowded and a bit loud before Broadway shows and may not be so romantic at those times.
Plan my food itenary please
Tuclingo del Valle or Tehuitzinga (both on 10th ave in Hell's Kitchen) for cheap Mexican.
West Side Sushi (9th ave) has inexpensive sushi. The House rolls (filled with crab meat) are what to get.
9th ave in Hell's Kichen has great inexpensive, restaurants of all types of cuisines.
You can do a seach on this board for "Hell's Kitchen", "Theater District" or any other area you like to get past posts in places in that area...you can also search on restaurant names.
www.menupages.com has almost every restaurant menu in NYC w/phone number, address...
Check out http://www.cmap.nypirg.org/netmaps/Straps/view.asp for a great subway/street map of NYC...don't forget to buy an all day Metrocard (if you're planning on taking 4 or more subway/bus rides in one day).
NY Pizza for Chicago Visitors
I second Patsy's on the UES (this location is the original and all the other Patsy's around NYC pale in comparison), however, Arturo's is also damn good and in a much better neighborhood (the edge of SOHO and the Village) for walking around.
Soup Dumplings - Where else?
At Stanton, I was expecting to get something that _looked_ like a Joe's Shanghai soup dumpling but with onion soup and perhaps different ingredients...this was not the case.
Although they were good (I don't think I liked them as much as everyone else does) they were very different from what I expected. They were about the size as a golf ball and were a pain to get out of their receptical, which resulted in a blob on my plate.
