Any update on Dinosaur BBQ in Stamford?
Hell yeah! Go 'Cuse!
[sorry...my wife is an SU alum]
Savin Rock Roasting Co - Stratford, CT: What's up?
Probably zoning laws, which have since eased a bit. There used to be zero outdoor alcohol allowed. ZERO. But now if the area is enclosed in some sort of way (take a look at Sitting Duck's outdoor "seating") then it's allowed. I do not believe the alcohol has to be in a concealed container (i.e. plastic cup) versus glassware but I do believe this was a major issue with a lot of restaurants both in town and those looking to come here. Or so I've heard/read. Do a search on Stratford zoning laws related to alcohol and something should pop up.
Regardless, I do believe the location itself is not cursed...unlike the (former) Bossa Nova space. That spot needs to just be some sort of marina related building. Restaurants open there to a short lifespan that's for certain.
STATION EATS... NEW CANAAN, STAMFORD... HOW IS IT?
New Canaan location is TINY. And a bit pricy, but otherwise a good alternative. How are the prices in Stamford? I walk by it all the time but have yet to stop or peek in.

Too bad Fagan's couldn't be reborn.
Bun N' Burger - Stratford, CT

We'll have to go back together and try out the new owners offerings.

Perfect place to pick up beer and food in Ardsley is DeCicco's.

If you want a sit down place then check out Pumpernickel, also in Ardsley.

Will have to check it out soon. Young owners...hope they can make this location succeed where many others have failed.
New Brazilian rodizio opening in Stamford
Saw some food pictures on a local food blogging site and the meats looked pretty dainty (or the gauchos swords are HUGE by comparison!) and not overly appetizing. And these weren't awful cell phone pictures either.
I walk by the place daily and haven't seen a crowd in there yet, but they've only been open a short time.
Breakfast in Fairfield County
NR Bistro.
Wife had the Shrimp and Avocado Club.

Breakfast in Fairfield County
Went with the wife sans kids yesterday AM and agree. It definitely lived up to the hype. We already spied different dishes that we both need to try next time in.
And the Double Bourbon Chocolate Torte for dessert at 11AM was specgoddamntacular!
Foodie driving through CT....what are some MUST try's ??
Which is exactly why you can get NH style pizza in cities like Chicago.
But I'll second Bkeats recommendation for the Place in Guilford. Amazing food and atmosphere. Not open until the end of April though.

New to Pleasantville / Thornwood - Recs please!
Is that Empanada place in Briarcliff still open? It was pretty damn good when it was Med Empanada (the owner sadly died).

Willington Pizza is indeed FG. And you may even run into a UConn Men/Women's basketball player while there as well.
As far as the "other" Pepe's...we've been to the Fairfield location a few times and it's good. Their sauce seems a bit lacking in the complexity department but otherwise it's a worthy addition.
BTW, there's a West Haven pizza challenge on 3/31 with a bunch of local pizzerias participating and it's something like $7 for 2 slices from each? I can't seem find any online info on it though.
New to Pleasantville / Thornwood - Recs please!
Flour + Sun Bakery is a must visit as well. Cupcakes and other goodies. We still drive about an hour one way to visit because their cupcakes are THAT good.
+1 on Sundance Deli. Especially when they have chorizo for egg sandwiches in the AM.

Windmill in Stratford is about as local an institution as you can get. Hasn't changed in decades, except for no longer serving Miller's hot dogs (RIP).
excellent [Rivenova,Stratford, Ct.]
Name of the new restaurant is Akoya Asian Cuisine. Looks like work is progressing finally as the sign is up and work is being done inside now.

Owners have sold the place and it will be renamed. One of the owners is opening her own restaurant, in town the article says.
Sad seeing this place changing hands but hopefully the new owner will continue the great food and service that made this place a great choice for families in the area. We'll have to take the kids there one last time before they move on. March 15 is the last day it says.
casual wear, good food, near Webster arena in Bridgeport,Ct.
This cafe just opened about a mile or so from the arena.

Doesn't quite fit the categories you listed but they make some creative sandwiches, etc.. It's on Fairfield Avenue too which is loaded with many other dining choices as well.
Make your own six pack
I think all the Whole Foods locations allow this as well. Just be careful when mixing a six pack from their selections as some of the inventory may be older than dirt. Check the bottle dates if they have them and if not...buyer beware. My wife bought some Southampton Keller Pils from a WF recently and that beer hasn't been released since LAST May!
:barf:
New Haven Pizza Tour
BAR is not wood fired. The wood is just for show.
And they're a restaurant first (during daytime hours) so people of all ages can eat there. It's my two kids (ages 7 and 9) favorite pizza in New Haven.
Jewish deli
Open.

Only a block or two away from where I work. May have to skip bagged lunch one day and check it out. Looks a bit upscale for a deli.

Cask Republic in New Haven?
Food is solid, if a bit on the chi-chi side...and a little pricey too. Similar vein to the GMans and the beer and liquor selection is also top notch...but also a tad on the pricey side, especially compared to SoNo's GMan. Moreso for the specialty and Belgian style offerings than regular beer styles.
It is an impressive space that's for sure...and it always seems to be crowded.
I typically frequent the place more for the beer selection than for lunch/dinner and the owner (Christian) and bar staff are very knowledgeable and engaging in beer chatter if you happen to be a beer geek/aficionado/whatever.
Word is they're in the process of opening another location in Bridgeport...which should be interesting (and closer to where I live).
Miller's (Stratford, CT) secret spices revealed
Awesome. Now to get Annie to start making and selling those wonderful hot fogs again! Or if Liscio's could replicate them.
Dinosaur Bar-B-Que comes to Stamford's South End
"So you work for BLT?"
No. But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Sally's Apizza is obviously better than Pepe's and Modern
"I am glad that there are so many great pizza options in NH, there is one for everyone!"
Indeed. And don't forget BAR! As good as the triumvirate for sure.
Dinosaur Bar-B-Que comes to Stamford's South End
Not as of yet.
Also, Le Pain Quotidien and Harlan Social are also coming to the south end in 2012. Not sure if those qualify as unChow worthy chains or not...but...
Growlers in Westchester
CL is open Thursdays too.
BTW, this place just opened in New Rochelle as well.

One of the best beer stores in the area by far.

Pretty damn awesome. And now you can order it for home use.
