Sports Bars around Harbor Springs/Petoskey MI
Heading up this weekend and need a good bar to watch the MSU-UM game on Saturday. Ideal place would have large TVs, good bar food/burgers, and a nice beer list.
Anniversary Dinner in Detroit
I'd recommend Bacco in Southfield. Food/Wine/Service all great. They can do a tasting for you if you ask, and compared to tastings I've had in other cities it's pretty reasonably priced.
Thanksgiving Catering - Fried Birds
I'm having quite a few people over this year. I'm planning on roasting my own bird, but I would like to have a couple fried (and/or smoked) turkeys as well. Anyone know of a restaurant/caterer in SE Mich that can do this?
Looking for Doughnuts In Michigan - Several Cities
OK There's one place you MUST try. Actually you ALL MUST try. Family Donut Shop in Hamtramck on the corner of Conant & Caniff (couple min drive from I-75 exit). The BEST yeast doughnuts I've ever had. You can inhale 3 in less than a minute. It's like eating a cloud. Even their cake donuts are nice and light.
Croissants in SE Michigan
Does anyone know of a cafe/bakery in Oakland/Macomb county that makes good croissants?
Cafe Downtown Chicago
I'll be staying downtown at The James and was wondering if there's a good cafe near by for coffee and croissants/danishes? That's my usual breakfast. Recommendations for full sit-down breakfast would also be appreciated.
Barcelona: Cinc Sentits vs Alkimia
Traveling to Spain later this Summer and would like to try one of the more modern restaurants there. After some looking it appears these are two of the favorites. If you’ve been to one or both, let me know what you thought of your overall experience (pros and cons). If you’ve been to both, please let me know which you prefer. Thanks
SE Michigan - The Current State of Pizza
Tomatoes at 14 & Middlebelt is my fav (they have a coal fired oven at this location)
For NY style I would say My Cousin's NY Pizza on Woodward & Square Lake is a good MI replacement for your NYC slice cravings
For Chicago Style you have to trust me and try Tivoli's in Utica on Old Van Dyke (they have good wood fired pizzas too)
July Trip to Northern Michigan
It's not posted online, but if you call them they will fax it to you right away. That's how I got it.
Slows update (Detroit)
Slows is one of my favorites. We need more places like it in MI. Try a Scrumpy's Hard Cider next time - goes great w/ BBQ
Date Night near Canton, MI
Steve and Rocky's in Novi is always solid. They have a wide selection and there's always a steak dish on the menu. Very affordable (especially at lunch) and very casual. If you want a little fancier and are willing to go a bit more north to Wixom, try Volare. It's an italian restaurant that serves steaks. Steaks are about $30 and they are fully garnished (starch & veg) and come with a pretty decent house salad.
Rowe Inn, Ellsworth MI
I’m headed to Northern Michigan for a weekend this month and would like to dine somewhere nice. My go to spot was Tapawingo, but it’s closed now. I was thinking about giving the Rowe a shot. Has anyone been there recently? Any other spots I should check out? I will be staying in Harbor Springs.
