TexasJeep's Profile
Casino El Camino
It is funny how everyone's experience varies so much. I had went there several years ago and everything was excellent. The armadillo burger, verde chili fries and the chili dog were all great. I went last year and everything was mediocre at best. I couldn't believe how much it had changed. I hope it was an really off day somehow but I have seen others with the same experience.
I Love Visiting Houston
I didn't care for Mom Alone's. The owner supposedly worked at Mamacita's before. I heard it was better than Mamacita's. My GF and I didn't care for it. Mamacita's is one of my favorite places for beef fajitas. Excellent flavor. I love their green salsa also.

Soft Serve Ice Cream
I would love to find some chocolate soft serve. It has been many years since I have had it. I can't figure out why no one sells it. One of the best things I have ever ate.
LA Chowhounder headed to Houston
T-Bone Tom's is my favorite place for Chicken Fried Steak. I have never had there BBQ or anything else there so I can't comment about that.
I really enjoy the super chop sandwhich at Grand Prize BBQ. There is a location in Pasadena which is close to La Porte. This location is a hole in the wall. They could be closed for the Holiday. www.grandprizebarbeque.com
Houston restaurants with draft root beer?
There is the A&W "restaurants". There are several in Houston. Food is OK, just fast food. Root beer is OK but it is draft. I am not sure if all locations have it on draft. www.awrestaurants.com
Saint Arnold's is good from the bottle and great from the tap when I have had it. I see BRC Gastropub has it on tap. I haven't been yet. Looks like the food will be good.

I have never had it but BJ's Restaurants has their root beer on tap.

Best Boudain/Boudin Kolache in Mid-County/Port Arthur?
A couple Shipley's in Houston is suppose to have them a day or two out of the week. I have had some in the Lufkin area and did not like theirs.
Donald's donuts in Seabrook are great. They have regular and jalapeno.
Lockhart Barbecue Showdown on Travel Channel
Can Chisholm trail BBQ not compete with the other Lockhart BBQ joints? I don't see much talk about it on here.
Galveston Lunch Options
Those are two different Miller's. Miller's Cafe in Clear Lake is a burger joint. I have always enjoyed the burgers there.
Miller's Landing in Galveston is mostly a seafood place. It looks different because they redid it a couple years ago. Very nice inside now and prices seem to be the same. I didn't care for it the first time I went but my second visit was much better.
Five Guys question (Dallas)
I would definitely check it out but some how my experience must be different than others. I didn't think the patties were very thin. I consider it to be FAR better than whataburger. If there was a five guys next to every whataburger, I would never eat at whataburger again. I was blown away when I recently tried it for the first time. I guess I wasn't expecting much though. My friend eats there a couple times a week.
January/February Crawfish in Houston?
BIg Woodrow's has had them since at least mid December. Mixed in size. Some of them were good size.
Best Pork Chop in Houston?
Four inches? I guess you have only been at lunch time. I really enjoy Perry's pork chops. That is where I would go. I did actually find out some people don't like it. I don't see how though.
Soft drink or hot sauce store in Houston?
Spec's downtown is the best that I can think of. The hot sauce selection is probably better than the soda selection.
Cajun Greek Galveston
I haven't been back. I just saw it open a couple weeks ago. I had no idea it was coming back. There were no signs up. I need to make sure my friend knows, he use to go 2 or 3 times a week.
the real San Antonio food junkie list.
I really enjoyed Freetail. I remember the Interloper Stout and Double Rye Wit being very good. Not too far from Freetail is Gabriel's Wine & Spirits‎. It is at the NW corner of loop 1604 and Blanco road. Great beer selection. I was impressed. The Pale Ale, maibock (probably no longer there) , and homemade orange cream soda were good at Blue Star. I didn't care for their stout or barleywine. They serve breakfast now.
I don't care for Mi Terra at all. I definitely don't get that place. The tostada burger at Chris Madrid's is one of the best if not best burger I have ever had.
LOCKHART BBQ is starting to slide downhill
Is Meyer's or Southside in Elgin worth going to?
LOCKHART BBQ is starting to slide downhill
I don't think I would right off the all the BBQ in Lockhart because you went to one place and it was sub par that occasion.
Black's was great this past weekend. I think I prefer it to Louis Mueller's. Too bad they didn't have any buttermilk pie when we were at Luling Bar-B-Q though. We went to Luling City market for BBQ but tried to go to Luling Bar-B-Q for dessert
(HOU) Where should I eat next?
Los Cucos is a chain. http://www.loscucos.com/
I have heard good things about it, but I have never been.
(HOU) Where should I eat next?
Ninfa's on navigation? One of my favorite places for beef fajitas. Lopez's is another favorite. Their service and enchilada's are incredible. They never write anything down and always get it right. BEST service I have ever had in Houston. http://www.lopezmexicanrestaurant.com
Galveston - what's up?
I like Cafe Michael burger better than the Spot but both are good.
I don't care for La Estacion.
Donut Shoppe for a Bronco burrito is my favorite for breakfast burritos. El Rey is my second favorite. To me it is not a breakfast burrito unless it has eggs, potatoes, bacon, chorizo, and cheese. I also enjoy Star Drug store for breakfast. Their chocolate malt is better than La King's.
Shrimp n stuff I usually get a shrimp po boy.
I had the buffet at Mario's on 61st and I won't ever go back there. Mario's on seawall was ok.
(Hou) Clear Lake - Hamburger Places
I like Miller's cafe at the NE corner of Bay area and Space center.
(Hou) Zio's on Bay Area Blvd
I enjoyed Zio's but I only have been once and it was years ago. I use to eat all the time right down the street at Angelo's Pizza and Pasta Restaurant. The food and prices were great. I haven't been in years though. I have been trying to get back over there for a few months now.
Texas Chicken Fried Steak
T- Bone Tom's is probably my favorite CFS in Texas. I need to get over there again soon. I have never had anything else there. I could say that about several places though. I also really enjoy the CFS spud at Randy's smokehouse on Hwy 3. So unhealthy but sooo good.
Houston Biergarten
Flying saucer has seating outside on Main st. 10 or more tables. Not a biergarten though. Flying saucer isn't loud if you go at an off time.
JP Hops House has some outdoor seating.
Gingerman or Hans bier Haus are the only two that can come close.
Any Galveston restaurant updates?
I can't remember if Cafe Michael burger does or not. When I get the choice I order mine medium rare. I know I like their burgers. Then you can go over to Woody's for a beer on their deck. Becoming more and more of a biker bar but it is laid back.
Any Galveston restaurant updates?
I have never been to Joe's. Never many cars there, so I have been hesitant.
Any Galveston restaurant updates?
I think Cafe Michael burger is better than the Spot. I do like the Spot though.
I wasn't that crazy about the Diner. Some other place is already opened in its place. Suppose to be American, Chinese, and Mexican.
For breakfast I like bronco burrtios from the Donut Shoppe, Dutch Kettle (greasy spoon kinda place), and Star Drug store. Star Drug store has excellent chocolate malts.
http://www.galveston.com/stardrugstore/
I like the Original mexican cafe. I also enjoy Benno's. Shrimp and stuff is another good place. Great shrimp. I always get a shrimp po boy.
The whole strip center where Cajun Greek is still being worked on. No idea if Cajun Greek will be opening back up.
Crab Chips - anyplace in Houston carry these?
The Central Market in Houston does carry them. Thanks.
Crab Chips - anyplace in Houston carry these?
I have never seen them here.
They are good though. I fly them back from the north east when I go there.
Best local-to-Texas beer
Pearl and Lone Star are both still around. The Pearl Brewery became Pabst Brewing and then later Miller Brewing does all of the brewing.
Best local-to-Texas beer
>>Anybody know if the Live Oak, Real Ale and Rahr are available in Houston?
Yes to all three. Not hard to find.
Shiner sells more than one beer.
I like Rahr's beers. Mostly Ugly Pug, even though it is no Shiner 97.
