One week near RDU - where to eat?

I like TASU ( http://www.tasunc.com ) in Brier Creek. I strongly recommend the Green Curry. A lot of people seem to like the sushi there, but since I am not a sushi fan I can't comment.
Some of the americanized chinese dishes are meh, the Tiger Cry steak is excellent. The Beef Pho is also really good. But I keep coming back for the Green Curry.

New soul food place in Cary?

Another strangeness. On Thursdays they close at 6pm. We tried going about 6:30pm....

Dinner Recs Needed in RTP (2011)

I would recommend Tasu (Brier Creek). Their green curry is wonderful. They have a huge menu, so even your picky coworkers should find something.

Best CSA in the RTP area?

We did producebox last year. It is a litle more expensive, but it gets delivered to your house and each week you get a choice of 3 different boxes (or you can skip a week). You can also change between the small or large (really a double) box each week. You pay per week.

Triangle Tops?

What do you mean by casual? I can't believe someone put Heron's as casual. They clearly are in a different bracket of society than I run in. :-)

Here are some I like although I don't know that any of them are "award" winners.
Casual Breakfast:
I like Brigs - several locations but I have only been to the one in Cary.
Lunch/ Dinner:
Mawa - african (Morrisville)
Super Wok - Chinese (Cary - very good, ask for the chinese menu, don't let the name scare you.)
Burgers at Abbey Road (in Cary)
Saffron - Indian (Morrisville)

Raleigh area - Date night Restaurant Recommendations?

Thank you everyone for the many suggestions!

Raleigh area - Date night Restaurant Recommendations?

My wife and I are planning a regular date night throughout 2011. I would like to hear some restaurant recommendations.

Requirements:
- TVs are not everywhere in the restaurant. (We have precious little time together just the two of us, and don’t want to be distracted.)
- Noise level such that we can actually talk and hear each other
- Comfortable place to linger and talk. (We expect to spend about an hour and a half.)
- Raleigh and Westward. (we live where Cary/apex come together.)
- Does not have to be fancy. One of our date night places has been Lucky 32.

Thanks in advance,

Alan

Help me find weird food [Raleigh, NC]

I'll second the goat choices at Mawa's. My wife and kids (9, 6, 4) met me for lunch there to celebrate the end of their Africa school unit. The kids thought that the goat dish we got was the best thing we ordered.

Looking for feedback (i.e. personal experiences) Raleigh Restaurants

My wife and I like to go to Lucky32 for date nights after they send us the quarterly $10 off gift certificate.

Last time we went the fried okra with voodoo glaze was wonderful. My wife often gets the shrimp and grits. Last time I went my main dish wasn't as good as my sides. (but I still finished it.)

Enjoyable place for our date night when someone is watching the kids. (I don't think it would be a problem bringing kids here but it would be more expensive then just for the two of us.)

New Ethiopian place open in Morrisville

I met my wife and kids there (9, 6, and almost 4) for lunch as we were celebrating the end of their geography study on Africa. (we homeschool our kids.) (To be fair, our kids are pretty adventurous eaters.)

We ordered 3 entrees for the 5 of us. (Chicken tibbs: ethopia, Maffa Guerteh (goat from Mali), Daheen (Gambia)).

Everything was WONDERFUL!! The server noticed we had young kids and offered to have the dishes prepared milder than usual. Our favorite was the Maffa Guerteh, followed by the Daheen.

then they brought me some hot sauce that is possibly the hottest thing I have had that was not a chemical hot sauce. My daughter asked what was in the hot sauce, and I told her "the sun."

Here is a link to the lunch menu:

Be aware that this is not a quick lunch, it is lunch for a day where you enjoy your food and enjoy your lunch companions.

Other places I hadn't heard about, thanks for the list!!

Lunch places in RTP area

I work over by Brier Creek and would like some suggestions of more places to try in the RTP area for lunch.

Here are some I have enjoyed:

-Neomonde - tasty, would recommend
-Carmen's Cuban - what I had was really good, what my lunch companion had was not very good
-William's Gourmet Kitchen - good sandwiches
-Morrisville Deli - great sandwich
-Saffron - Indian (have only been for dinner but what I had was really good)
-Sarah's Empanadas (yummy, I have had some coworkers with bad exeperiences, but mine were good.)
-Pizza Italia - very good meatball sub
-Zakya - Indian buffet that I like
-Tasu - hit and miss, but their green curry is wonderful
-Smokey's Shack - I enjoy their BBQ
-Randy's Pizza

I also like Greek Fiesta for a quick lunch.

Ok, so where else should I try?

Thanks in advance,

Alan

Recommendation for Anniversary Dinner? (Raleigh area)

My wife and my anniversary is Sunday (7/11). I am looking for any recommendations for an anniversary dinner.
(I considered Herons, but it is closed during July and August for a kitchen remodel.)

I would like somewhere that we can have a leisurely enjoyable dinner. My wife is pregnant, so a great wine list is not a requirement.

We are pretty adventurous eaters, but neither one of us is a fan of sushi.

We live in Cary, but can drive a bit for a good place.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

Triangle Restaurant Week

disappointed.... We moved here from Dallas where restaurant week was a BIG DEAL and the nicest restaurants typically sold out within hours of opening. Really want this to be a big deal, but am cautious.

Downtown and on ocean restaurant recommendations?

My wife and I will be in San Diego next Sat/Sun (May 8-9). I am looking for some restaurant recommendations.

We both really like Mexican food. We also both are bigger fans of the food's taste than the atmosphere. The nicest outfit I will have with me will be khakis and a long sleeve button up shirt (so no jacket required places.)

we are staying in the Britt Scripps Inn on Fri and Sat night, and close to the airport on Sun night. however, we will have a car so distance is not a huge concern.

My other concern is places to eat on Mother's day that would not be where most people would take their mother. (ie, I am not interested in a Mother's Day brunch craziness.)

Thanks in advance,

alan

Tribeca Tavern - Cary - anyone?

Has anyone been there (corner of High House and Davis)?

Close to my house and wondering if it is any good. (Will have to try out on a Monday for $3 Drafts...)

Tasu -Brier Creekin Raleigh

We go there for lunch fairly frequently. I have found dishes to be hit and miss. (I have not eaten the sushi there as I am not a huge sushi fan.)

The green curry is EXCELLENT and is what I get just about everytime.

I am not sure I would drive all of the way from Fuquay. coming from Fuquay I would suggest Tom Yum Thai in Cary or SuperWok first.

Zayka Indian restaurant in Brierdale shopping center near Brier Creek, Raleigh

I have been there twice for lunch, and the buffet has been wonderful. Make sure you ask for the Garlic Naan. They will make it fresh for you an it is so, so good.

i took my whole family there the first time, and they didn't charge for 6 and under, and when I asked they charged 1/2 price for my 9 year old.

Only downside is I tend to eat too much at a buffet.

Georgio's in Cary, NC??

I have noticed a new place has opened up in Cary at High House and Cary Parkway. (over by La Farm.)

Sign says: Georgio, googling it pulled up this website: http://www.giorgiocary.com/

Anybody know anything?

thanks in advance,

Alan

Breakfast in Raleigh?

Visiting w adventurous young kids - Looking for places in Downtown and near Bethesda

Went to Ollie's Trolley today, and it was good and fit the bill. Good burgers, not terribly expensive. (I really liked the fries.)

Thanks!

Tomorrow we have a Capital tour at 11am, so afterwards I will probably hit American Indian Museum.
