A place like Brucie on Court Street
We went to Brucie! The atmosphere was pretty much perfect, though the food was just fine. Not bad, sometimes good, but food-wise, definitely not something to return for.
Girls weekend - which reservation(s) to keep?
If you like Spice Market's vibe, you will probably be happier at Morimoto. Personally, I love WD-50 and would never not go if given the option, but the decor inside is a bit haphazard. The curation really happens on the menu - not the space (which is not the case at Morimoto).
A place like Brucie on Court Street
This is a weird request, but is there a place like Brucie in lower Manhattan or Williamsburg? Friends coming to town for less than 24 hours. They will not want to head down to Brooklyn (from Queens).

thanks for the feedback! we ended up at paulie gee's where they graciously accept a reservation with no rules about pre-setting a menu, pizza only before 6pm, etc. etc. decent pizza and not as hipster as roberta's, in a good way.

Yum Yum Thai Restaurant in Sunnyside
I found Yum Yum to be boring, with relatively small portions and a pretty small menu as well. I only went once, but with I am Thai in the neighborhood, there's really no reason for me to go back.
For what it's worth, I like Dee Thai better than YY, but I also find Dee to be mediocre at best.

Dumpling Academy / Kitchen Club
Has anyone taken classes / events with Marja Sampson (Kitchen Club) and her new Dumpling Academy endeavor?
$55 gets you cocktails, lessons and 8 dumplings. Also notes that you get "Dumpling Academy" chopsticks, which makes me a little wary.....
Reasonable but good in Woodstock?
I had the pork buns and they were remarkably bad. Sauce was cloying, meat was deficient. The bun, itself, was ok, but did not taste as though made in their kitchen.
That said, I'm always desperate for noodles, so will head in to at least give them a try.

@2slices, tahini has a TON of fat, if fat is an issue.

I wouldn't consider bear cafe reasonable. And relative to what you get, i wouldn't consider little bear reasonable, either.

basil rice pudding
Does anyone have experience using fresh basil in rice pudding? Do you think it can be baked or better minced and used as a garnish after cooking?

El Shater's babaganoush may be healthy, but it is fattening with all the oil. The tabouleh is less oily there and on a good day is really good.
De Mole can be pretty healthy. Burritos aren't bad if you get without rice and dairy. Also their salad is really filling and you can get with shrimp or chicken on top. I Am Thai is a great spot for non-fattening options - papaya or mango salad, summer rolls. Soon du bu at Natural Tofu is another option that's relatively healthy, super filling and not too fatty.
