Twelve days in Vienna in June

Thank you Sturmi. Sorry, I had posted this in the International Forum before I saw the similar requests and answers for kukaburra. Will be more diligent in future!

Twelve days in Vienna in June

Have looked at some posts re Vienna but most seem to be a few years old. We will be staying close by the Stadtpark and thankfully have an apartment with a full kitchen . Would love some tips re shopping, of course the Naschmarkt, but is there a supermarket chain along the lines of Monoprix in France stocking reasonable wine, beer, cheeses etc. Is raw milk camembert available (the really smelly delicious type)? Any suggestions would be most welcome, also will eat out a couple of times, schnitzel, tafelspitz, wurst etc. Will the famous asparagus still be available in June?

Hopefully will be having several day trips - so anywhere interesting, please let me know.

Thanks, Margaret

Possibly sacrilegious, but!!!

Thank you everybody for your help - looking forward to the eating thereof now!!!

Rotisseried Suckling Piglet

Thank you - can you give me the address of Tang Freres please? and if possible, what should I expect to pay?

Rotisseried Suckling Piglet

Hello all, last year in Monteguile I saw these (along with the chickens) on the spit in a butcher shop. He also had the dressed piglets in his shop window. Alas with my lack of french all I could find out that these were not for sale (the cooked ones), so assume they were a private order.

We'll be back in September staying in the Opera quartier. Can anyone tell me where I can buy a few slices (or a kilo) of this delicacy? The crackling looked so good and the smell was mouthwatering - still is! Thank you.

Possibly sacrilegious, but!!!

Thank you all - we were in Paris last Sept/Oct for 11 days (our first ever trip) and intended to visit cheese shops etc - but both of us caught bad flu with the result, no taste buds working, difficulty with talking, let alone swallowing, mid ear infections which affected our balance, not to mention the horrible coughing (think we've had our swine flu)! All in all had a miserable time so this trip we're planning on doing what we missed the first time. Your recommendation is great souphie, that's what we intended. We're staying in rue Ste Anne so hopefully won't be far from the action.

Possibly sacrilegious, but!!!

Thanks Jock, already have Juveniles on my list to eat at and Montgomery sounds very good. However was thinking of a French cheese, anything similar to cheddar?

Possibly sacrilegious, but!!!

As much as I love the bries and roqueforts - can anyone tell me if there is a sharp cheddar type cheese, preferably crumbly that I can buy when we visit Paris in September? Thank you.
