Paris Near Mandarin Oriental

John, we seem to be running into a roadblock as one night for dinner this trip will be a Sunday. Many of these wonderful choices are closed. What other options do we have?

Thanks. The Intercon is centrally located, so we expect to walk. Have heard about Singel 404. Any thoughts for a nice dinner?

First Time in Amsterdam

My wife and I will be taking a train to AMS from Paris the first week of December for two nights at the Intercontinental. Know nothing about this city and would love recommendations for two dinners within walking distance. First night can be local or continental---we are from a culinary family and appreciate the work of great chefs. Second night must be casual (even sandwiches will do) as we leave early the next morning. Days will be filled with museums and, weather permitting, walking. Any good coffee and pastry?

Well, John, back we go! Leaving day after Thanksgiving and definitely headed back to Franck Enee. We want to keep all dinners in walking distance of the Mandarin so Pirouette may be out. Anything new or a great old standby? French Bistro is the choice. Also may try the RER from DeGaulle this time to LesHalles station rather than a car. Thanks in advance.

London Near FS Park Lane

All; Bocca di Lupo was awesome, and a few feet from the theater (go see Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime at the Apollo). Too little time spent in London, this time. Will try and return for some horse racing soon. Thanks again!

Well thanks to all for some great ideas. The Mandarin Oriental was terrific, as it should be for the price. We found other less expensive places to have a glass of wine or an early evening cocktail. The restaurants we enjoyed were Pirouette and Franck Enee. Both were off the charts excellent---the crispy rabbit at FE was wonderful. Wish we could have stayed longer....

International racing is terrific. Af ew years back I attended the Melbourne Cup---it was off the charts. Longchamp is on the list.

Thanks to all who replied. We're set at Pirouette and Franck Enee (crispy rabbit!!) and our last night we want very casual---can even be a sandwich! Maybe something we pick up at a market? Tickets set for Musee D'Orsay---other days will be spent shopping, hitting markets and soaking up everything as we walk. Too bad there's no horse racing at Longchamp!

London Near FS Park Lane

We are headed to Bocca di Lupo---and looking forward to it. Decided to take the Heathrow Connect rather than the Express as we arrive in on United and won't have to tram over to the Express terminal. 10 minutes longer ride but we save that in the transfer. We took a black cab the last trip in and that took forever.
Now looking for very casual Sunday night eats. Can even be a sandwich! Thanks to all who replied.

Paris Near Mandarin Oriental

Heading from London to Paris via Chunnel next week and need suggestions for dinner in area of Mandarin Oriental. Casual atmosphere a must---love true bistro food. Don't mind a walk or short cab ride. Verjus and Saturne come to mind, and I may be too picky to attempt Frenchie. Three nights needed! Best morning coffee and croissant ideas too si vous plait. Finally, best transport ideas from Gare du Nord to hotel and hotel to DeGaulle. Private car? Thanks in advance!

London Near FS Park Lane

Heading to London for a couple of nights before taking Chunnel to Paris. Staying at Four Seasons Park Lane and need a dinner suggestion. Not over the top but would love local modern chef. Keeping it nice casual. Also need post theater suggestion AND the best way to commute from Heathrow to the hotel. Don't mind a train. Thanks!

Food for 3 Nights Napa Valley + 1 Night Healdsburg

Loved Martini House! Sadly, it has moved on. The new establishment there is Goose & gander, which gets good, not great, reviews.

Spot to Hold Cocktail Reception Near Chinatown

Good info. Thanks. What is your take on Graffiato?

Spot to Hold Cocktail Reception Near Chinatown

Actually looking for a fun place with great cocktails and fun food---not maybe as stuffy as those suggested. I've looked into Marvin and El Centro---they look awesome but may be a bit far. Also Brasserie Beck seems close and may fit the bill. Thoughts?

Spot to Hold Cocktail Reception Near Chinatown

I've checked into all of these. They look great. Next question: maybe someplace a bit more casual, and fun? Still want to be close to the Renaissance Downtown.

Food for 3 Nights Napa Valley + 1 Night Healdsburg

The Shed doesn't appear to have dinner service. Chalkboard looks fine---what appears to be a trend toward casual dining. Other thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks!

Anyone Do a Cheese Trail Tour?

Considering spending a half day on a cheese tasting tour in Sonoma/Napa rather than so many wine tastings that the palate gets numb. Looking for suggestions that we can drive on our own, and for dairy preferences. Thanks!

Food for 3 Nights Napa Valley + 1 Night Healdsburg

Dinner suggestions needed for this trip---been many times before so looking for under the radar. Martini House was a favorite so Goose & Gander on the list. Been to Bottega on a good night but know they are inconsistent. Did not have a good experience at Redd (food and service). Would rather do more casual French that the Laundry. Staying at Hotel LeMars in Healdsburg and would love to walk to dinner on the final night. Thanks in advance.

Spot to Hold Cocktail Reception Near Chinatown

I am seeking to hold a cocktail reception for clients when in D.C. for a conference at the Renaissance. Great food and drink is a must---I expect about 40 to attend. Any suggestions for someplace upscale and will get attention?

Newport Beach

Have a conference in Newport Beach in January. TWO questions: 1) We have a list of usual suspects restaurants from our hotel, but want an insider's opinion for Newport, Corona Del Mar or Laguna for dinner. Upscale casual, new American or farm to table. We could always do Ocean Club. 2) Our group of about 60 needs a place for dinner on Sunday night, so anyplace that can do a private room for us is best. Any place with a local flavor? Good food? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Hi all. I've perused the lists, and would love to hit the top spots that dot areas near the Village and West village, but timing and travel issues interfere. Staying at the London NYC (been to Ramsay's--very good). Need suggestions---we love new American and great Italian, even French Bistro. Price not the biggest issue, but great food is! Thanks in advance.

Staying At Red Rocks & Need Ideas For On or Off Site Dinner

Heading to a meeting at Red Rock Resort. Any suggestions for dining at on-site restaurants (dinner only), or if there are close by options? Is their steak house great? The Mexican? We usually stay on The Strip, where the options seem endless. No buffets, please.

Entertaining in DC

Heading to DC in May to entertain clients and colleagues. Tried to get into Blue Duck with a party of 8 on Friday and Saturday but large tables are already booked. Have done and liked Nora, Equinox (which Zagat has as temporarily closed) and Charlie Palmer Steak. Cityzen may be too far over the top for this group. Heard that Obelisk is awesome, and I can consider that for a night out on my own with my better half. Sommelier son will be with us as well, so decent wine lists are a must. So please have at it. We like good, innovative and flavorful food. Thanks in advance.

One Night Near Union Square and some Lunch

Need suggestions for dinner. Staying at Hilton for biz and would prefer to walk but short cab ride OK, too. Great seafood or classic Californian/New American is preferred. Not on a budget but not looking for French Laundry prices either. Also, some ideas for lunch near the hotel as well. When this group travels we look for local flavor (shellfish/oysters, pizza, Chinese, whatever) so that's a must. Thanks in advance!

Heading to NYC from EWR for Sunday Italian Dinner

Pepolino was great. Sunday night so not very busy in Tribeca, but beautiful weather and and a sidewalk table added to the experience. Had the "ethereal" gnocchi and split a salad, excellently dressed. I had pappardelle with wild boar which was very flavorful and hearty. My colleague had the faro (their version of risotto) which was creamy, perfectly seasoned. Wine list was very reasonable for NYC with many Italian varietals---a bonus. Passed on dessert. Overall, a charming experience with great food. I will return.
