I would never, ever (even for a minute) believe that you would actually call Jr. an "ept" asshole.

Inept asshole means that you knew exactly what you were about (knowing you meant what you said and you said what you meant - "An elephants faithful 100%!).

In other words you were telling Jr. he is the farthest thing from an ept asshole...to which I heartily concur.

No, no Jr. - this isn't about you, but rather it's a corollary of the "I could care less" school of poorly thought out grammar.

Being called an inept asshole says that you aren't an asshole, and says a lot about idiocy of the person calling you one.

If one is an inept asshole isn't that a positive descriptor?

Valley Blvd Eats - looking for eating partners

I can do better than that. One time when I was in line at Carney's on the Sunset Strip the guy behind me in line asked me if I was Michael McDonald of Doobie Brothers fame and another time someone asked me if I was Kenny Rogers (before the plastics man got a hold of him)...

What I see on long threads is the answering of a question that comes up in one of the inevitable "sub threads" that spring up, without realizing that the same reply has been given elsewhere in the thread several time already. That type of ditto reply doesn't bother me at all.

It's only in those threads that are maybe 10 posts long where someone chimes in with the same suggestion that I tend to do my "eye roll" thing as I read along tsking away like the curmudgeon I am.

What is the policy about restaurant owners responding to negative reports?

The restaurant owner might also simply use the "report button" at the bottom of the post that they want to dispute (if, for instance, they believe that they are being smeared by someone that is a competitor or perhaps someone has attempted to extort free food from them with the threat of a bad review if they don't "pay to get good press" for a couple of possible examples) and explain their case to the Mod's that way.

FARMSHOP charging .30 for paper bag. Every other market in area charging 10 cents

Now when I do minor shopping (instead of major, "fill up the rolling cart" shopping) where I would once have carried one of those plastic baskets around the store I now just carry one of the plastic bags out of my trunk and throw my groceries in the bag and then roll them out onto the conveyor belt at the scanner stand station when I'm ready to check out.

Works for me.

It turns out that he's both there, and not there.

btw - I found an excellent quantum mechanic to work on my flux capacitor and now I get my DeLorean fixed before it needs work...

It reminds me of an ultimate nightmare of a first date in which the other party goes on about themselves for an hour, without drawing breath. At the end of that exhausting soliloquy they finally take note of you, pause and say "So, enough about me. What do you think of me?"

"I'd be lying, however, if I said I haven't experienced parallels in spoken, face to face discussions."

I just don't understand why all discussions - written, spoken and mimed - can't be perfectly tailored to my individual needs, each and every time? It's almost like other people think that they ought to be able to speak or write as they've always done. Dammit people, it's all about me! Why can't you seem to get that?

I thought it was the 21 year old, Taketsuru that was tough to come by? I think the Miyagikyo can be found here in the US (at least Wally's has it http://www.wallywine.com/search.aspx?... ).

ADD: I take it back, Wally's has the 21 year old version as well http://www.wallywine.com/p-97293-nikk... and you can see their full line of Nikka whiskey here (except for the 15 year old that is linked above) http://www.wallywine.com/m-5406-nikka...

"...and WHAT is with these so called 'recommendations' that are now at the bottom of every thread? They are irrelevant, even to someone like me who thinks of food, restaurants and creating interesting meals just about ALL THE TIME."

They are the price of a free CH site (paid ad's) for those who are thinking about "food, restaurants and creating interesting meals just about ALL THE TIME".

Thanks for sharing, and I'll just say that I don't agree with one thing you wrote. $38 per person with a full meal, beer, tax and tip out the door is cheap these days! Kidding, if only just a little.

Brining pork chops

Thanks to all 3 of you who were kind enough to reply. Many times I do my shopping at 4 AM at the all night Ralph's and I'll have time to brine the chops for that nights dinner. I was thinking over night was a necessity, but not true!

FARMSHOP charging .30 for paper bag. Every other market in area charging 10 cents

There are $2 bottles of wine and $2000 bottles of wine. There are $10,000 cars and $10,000,000 cars. There are $5 meals and $500 meals. No one is forcing anyone to buy one over the other, or to buy either one of them when it comes to that. That a high end store in a high end area of L.A. would charge more for a completely discretionary bag doesn't come as much of surprise to me.

Brining pork chops

More pertinent, at least for me and my current scramble of a life, is how short is too short to have any effect when brining them?

I bought a few from Smart & Final (plastic ones) because they said they will replace them with new ones when they tear, and the old ones get recycled back into new ones again.

It's time to play MR TASTER'S **NAME THAT PASTRAMI SUPERCHALLENGEâ„¢**!

I wouldn't mind trying this thick sliced pastrami at Factor's. My last pastrami sandwich there was pretty bad, but I still like getting breakfast there and if Olga is still working there I would definitely go (one of the nicest human beings I've ever met and a good waitress too). She used to be at Junior's and I kept hoping Lenny's would hire her back.

Here is Lucy Lean's photo of said leg from the LAW. Looks pretty substantial. I guess I've become inured to prices after the whole Bouchon/Farmshop fried chicken prices.

BBQ in LA

I like Srir on a lot of different things I eat. Last night I squirted it directly onto the matzo ball in my soup before I devoured it and with cottage cheese I first chop up raw onion and mix that into the cc and then squirt it with srir...

You mean you squirt it directly into your mouth ala the whipped cream can method?
