PERFECT SUSHI West Los Angeles SUSHIZO

Go to U-Zen on SM Blvd. just east of Bundy sometime, Paul. You can eat well for about $60 to $65 per person for sushi (and they have some really good small plate appetizer dishes that I like as well, like the garlic sprouts with shrimp and the spicy tofu dish).

What feature would you like to see on Chowhound?

"I have no idea how to bounce from this site to those and back without losing the sites."

Open up another browser window and do your translate thing and then copy the now translated verbiage. Go back to the original browser window that has the CH page (which you kept open the whole time you were translating) and paste in your information. Done.

Jersey Mike's -- Yays, Nays, and Best Subs

"...but doesn't compare AT ALL to my local sub shop!"

You may as well give your local sub shop a "shout out" since you've mentioned their charms here...What's it called and where is it? ;-D>

Garlic Lovers Take Knot (and take note)

I've even had one to go, and it was still fantastic. On our way to a late lunch yesterday at 17th Street Cafe on Montana we drove by M&O at 2:30 PM just to see if we might not be able to catch lunch there instead. A crowd of people were gathered on the sidewalk with no table space inside and what looked like the resulting crowd inside about to explode through the windows...

Dinner Friday Night - Downtown/Mid-Wilshire

All of it sounds wonderful. Was it enough food for 4 and what was the per person cost?

Garlic Lovers Take Knot (and take note)

There have been quite a few posts here, all good as far as I've seen, about the new Milo and Olive on Wilshire in Santa Monica. I just wanted to nominate their "garlic knots" as the best new food in Los Angeles (and probably beyond - but I don't get out much so that's hard to say from my perspective). Take a look at the bottom of the "Slice" blog by Kelly Bone's review of Milo & Olive for photos and excellent description of the garlic knots to end all garlic knots: http://slice.seriouseats.com/archives/2012/01/milo-and-olive-santa-monica-ca-review.html

Cassoulet in LA

I had tried to look at the menu for L'Epicerie to see if it was still available as a regular offering, but their website was down for whatever reason when I tried.

"Removing the Chowhound brand would decrease the confusion."

Perhaps a new name like "Gobble Gobble Gobble" as this whole data debasement deal is making me think of a turkey...

Cassoulet in LA

Places never seem to put it on their regular menu. I believe I've seen it at Meet in Culver City and I would think that Soleil on Westwood Blvd., L'Epicerie and Church and State would also be likely suspects to offer it as an occasional special.

ADD: I was noodling around and noticed that Le Dijonaise has it on their regular menu http://www.ladijonaise.com/entrees.html

edible flowers?

I would think that one of the better Farmer's markets, like the Wednesday Santa Monica or the Sunday Hollywood would be good bets to find what you need.

John O'Groats - Pancake Power Undiminished!

lol...Since I don't play golf I'd be really teed off if the pancakes at JO's takes a sudden turn toward the sub par (unlike your golf game for which I'm certain sub par would be welcomed)... ;-D>

URGENT HELP REQUIRED: Lunch in Upland

We were at a place in Montclair once and had what I thought was pretty darn good Mexican seafood. But that was quite sometime ago and I wondered if you have been (more recently) before, and if so what you thought of it?

John O'Groats - Pancake Power Undiminished!

I noticed on a white board that the WLA branch was offering some new flavors of biscuits (cheddar bacon was one IIRC). Have you tried any of their waffles? It's hard to forgo their pancakes, but the waffles are calling to me a bit and I may have a hard time ignoring them in the future... ;-D>

How do PM systems work on other sites? For instance, can you turn off your participation in the system if you don't want to be contacted? Do the moderators on other sites take an active role if you are being harassed by someone on the site? I've been against this idea in the past, but I can see that plenty of other folks here see it as a positive so I can see going along if it offers a better way to keep off topic chat down on the boards.

John O'Groats - Pancake Power Undiminished!

For the last few Sundays I have been going to the WLA John O'Groats on Pico (just west of Rancho Park Golf course) for the opening bell. I've had the multi-grain, the high fiber and this morning the chocolate chip. All were great (the mulit-grain might have been just a tad undercooked in the middle), but the chocolate chip ones this morning were a revelation. Addiction is not too strong a word when it comes to pancakes and John O's.

ADD: One other really good thing about this place...great coffee (if you like the SF model for coffee). They even offer French Press if you want to go that route. I just haven't felt the need to do that given the quality of the regular cup of Joe they pour.

Delivery in Silver Lake/ Echo Park area?

I'm bummed about that too. We were planning on getting lunch delivered to our son's apartment in Silver Lake one weekend from Masa while we were helping him do some upcoming painting. Back to square one.

Need to send a really nice food gift--what's the Russ and Daughters of LA?

You can take a look at: http://cheesestorebh.com/ and see how it strikes you.

What reason would that be exactly?

Serious Burger Find in Agoura (of all places?)

Sometimes living vicariously (virtual life seems to be the life blood of this site after all) just has to suffice for the nonce...

Serious Burger Find in Agoura (of all places?)

I'm still trying to get out to the valley to give it a try. I was hoping that one of our SFV brethren to take a risk and assess it.
