new site feature request - "dine with me"
I'd really like site feature that enables experienced chowhounders in your local area to advertise themselves as "experts" and lead eating trips to their favourite places, explaining the dishes as you eat them. could even monetize it.
I'm functionally pretty lazy. i also learn better while doing. wonder whether there's other people in the same boat who'd like this feature... and wonder if there's anything i can do to get the ball rolling....
[London] Banh mi?

pljeskavice (Bosnian/Serbian/Croatian "hamburger") in London
Anybody know where i can track down a good one? Ate this in Belgrade and nearly died it was so good. I think the one i'm after is called Gurmanska Pljeskavice - it's got the bacon and swiss cheese inside. hamburger in quotation marks because i was sternly warned not to call pljeskavice a hamburger.
also any recommendations for restaurants in london serving food from this region. i'm very partial to a bit of cevapi or borek as well.
Caponata on Delancey St in Camden
just moved back into camden after a year out. i've always complained about the lack of really fun and interesting places to eat (and not too expensive!). on sunday happened to walk up delancey st and run into Caponata. the menu had me salivating, and the gig lineup is just a dream.
we had the fennel linguine (not that great), fritto misto - really fresh calamari and sardines and prawns deep fried in a tempura-like batter amazing, and a large antipasti. simple and nice. i like to eat a lot. the dishes werent huge,.. but for £7/plate they are incredibly good value. top quality ingredients. the service is amazing - no attitude, and they actually care - i'm so used to being treated like a second-class citizen (except for when i go to really expensive dinners). and they have my current favourite beer - peroni red label. It's the kind of vibe i've really missed since leaving Melbourne.
@oont - thanks for the restaurant tips. I rate Taste of Siam. the supermarket next door is really well stocked for oriental groceries as well. the staff are incredibly nice. I also happened to ride past nic rascle's fish shop on saturday as well. nearly fell off my bike. such good quality in the middle of nowhere. had a chat and he seems really chill and friendly and loves his product. he will feed my fish addiction.
lastly there's a couple of gems - a fantastic little Portuguese deli on plender st (mornington crescent). i forget what it's called. great range of product. good meats and pastries. great coffee. and it's open on sunday mornings - you'd almost think you werent' in london.
