Acton Coffee House is now open. Looks very much like a copy of Ziba's - little has
changed.

Tailgator's in Acton is now open. Big flag outside, and lights on inside.
Signs on windows advertise Trivia Night every Wednesday.

Have not yet paid a visit.

There used to be a great O'Naturals in Acton on 2A - big, with free WiFi and cute cook staff - but it closed a few months ago.

Anyone eat there yet? Comments? Any good? Stay away?

Where can I find fresh (not smoked) whitefish? A few fish places say they only stock it near major Jewish holidays. Is there anyplace that has it on a a regular basis? The old Captain's Wharf restaurant in Brookline used to have a great baked whitefish.

Very inauthentic, but pretty tasty.

There was a place I went to a long time ago in the Westford area that served
rolls and butter. You had to ask for rice and doubt if they even had chopsticks.
The waitresses were all blondes named Darlene - how inauthentic can you get?!

There is a place in Lawrence that is the only 'no msg' teppanyaki I've ever seen.
Had dinner there once. They put on a good show and the food and prices were
reasonable. (Hibachi Chicken, 16.95; Teriyaki Steak, 18.95).

I actually just bought some fresh sardines at H-Mart in Burlington this morning.

Package of 4 fish (labeled: "Saltines").

Had to gut and clean and take care of the bones. Pretty tasty.

Isn't there a place in Framingham near Rt 9 and 126?

Been buying meat there for several years. Never a problem. I see
the same brands (for example of lamb) at other markets at higher
prices.

I said "suburban chinese" not "good chinese". It's not chinatown, or anything
like it. At least they don't serve it with white rolls and butter (like a place in Westford
did).

Bummer about Tobiko.

Been in Maynard since 2004. Thai place across from 51 Main is decent. Thai
place across from CVS is doubtful. Cast Iron looks overpriced to me - have not
eaten there yet. Philly steak place next to 51 Main is good and inexpensive.
China Ruby serves reliable suburban chinese. Oriental Garden buffet is hit-or-miss
depending on what they put out that day. Boston Bean has excellent coffee and
good sandwiches. There is good italian at the Acton place near Scupper Jack's.
Scupper Jack's is overpriced and food is just OK, very salty and salad bar has
not much to choose from. Tobiko (same plaza in Acton) has imaginative asian food.

So, why did you people move to Maynard?

Quality varies from year to year. Sometimes they have three or more really great chowder options and you can go back and forth until you can pick a winner.

Sometimes there is only one restaurant with good chowder. There's usually one place with really bad chowder - you see people dumping the cups in the trash after taking one taste.

The weather is a huge variable. If it's sweltering, it's not so much fun. If it's sunny and dry, it can be a blast.

Just watch out for all the corporate junk set up outside the Chowderfest - giveaways of junk food and chemical-laden drinks.

I don't think you can go wrong with anything at Blue Ginger. Enjoy!

The Decordova cafe is pretty nice. I've had a few good lunches there.

What happened? Place is empty and locked up.

I beleive that it is still not legal to import fresh mangosteen fruit - hence all the juices.

There was a review in today's Globe of a vegan raw food place in (I think) the area.

The DeCordova itself has a nice small cafe upstairs.

"Crunchy Frog? Don't you even take the bones out?"

"If we took the bones out, it wouldn't be crunchy, would it?"

Christopher's on Rt 62 in Maynard has excellent steaks.

Lester's in Burlington is pretty good.

Stay away from Firefly's...

Asia Buffet does have Yellowtail, but only at dinner (turn over the sushi menu sheet for the dinner options).

They also do have some sashimi at the buffet next to the sushi chefs. Not a huge sashimi selection, but if you got there just when they put it out, you could get a decent portion.

Nice to go there, order some sushi, have a bowl of miso soup while you wait, and enjoy the free drink refills.

Coffee Connection was the best. Peet's is probably the best available now.

I recently went to Ken's in Framingham and was totally underwhelmed. Quality, atmosphere and service were sub-par. I ordered the porterhouse - waiter said it was the biggest steak on the menu - and it was thin, tough and quite small for a porterhouse. Even my son (8 years old) said the steak was not that good. Sides were barely warm and totally over-buttered. Only good thing was the ceasar salad starter.
