Felice 83 on the UES- has anyone tried it yet?
I love Felice, and the entrees won't disappoint. There's a pappardelle with sausage and truffle oil that's really great, and the hamburger, while not a hamburger by any conventional definition, is a pretty amazing dish. Plus a great tiramisu if I'm remembering correctly.
We would love some good tempura on the UES.
And one on the UES! Haven't had the tempura, but chicken katsu is very good, plus beef yaki udon is great.

Toronto to UWS - best, hippest, most reasonably priced food?
I love Untitled- for brunch/lunch, but particularly for dinner. Weekly changing, very short menu by a phenomenal chef doing wonders with deceptively basic dishes.
Ditch-Plains with the family?
Fork and knife. Even better is the Sloppy Ditch- one mac and cheese topped hot dog, one sloppy joe topped hot dog. Yum.
Best place for Ribollita in Manhattan?
Or... a comfy place for a nice weekday meal somewhere in the 70s or 80s, either side?
Fantastic meal at Ngam
Hesitated for exactly the same reason. Five starrers were right.
Fantastic meal at Ngam
Modern Thai food, quirky menu, everything was really great. Green curry rice with baby back ribs, grilled pork skewers, fried wontons with avocado dipping sauce, one of the best pad thais I've ever had (supposedly the papaya pad thai is incredible, too). Happy hour menu is great and very reasonable ($4 well-portioned bar snacks, $1 oysters). Go soon.

Something similar to Otto near NYU
A bunch of other grad students and I took a professor to North Square for food/drinks- little bit less boisterous than Otto, but perfect for the occasion, and I remember the food there being very good and pretty varied. Plus you can't get much closer to the law school- just walk up Macdougal.

Cafe China?
But please report back. I haven't read a really in-depth report of the place anywhere; I'm really curious.
Quickie UES Dinner Suggestion
Good ideas, esp. Vermicelli. Have you tried Toscano's around there? Way better than it needs to be. Apparently the chef had worked at Nobu.
Quickie UES Dinner Suggestion
For tonight- French, American, Italian, but probably anything else too. Nicer than a burger joint but less nice than Jean Georges. I know it's a wide swath- any favorites?
Thanks.
Untitled at the Whitney: This Weekend's Dinner
Looks amazing: Pork Loin and Belly with Ginger Peach Compote, Watermelon and Cucumber Salad with Spiced Peanuts and Lime Coriander Dressing. Among others. I've been twice in the last month, and left very happy both times. Deceptively simple, perfectly executed food.

Rec: Nice-ish restaurants near NYU?
Second North Square. That's right in their comfort zone- good, relatively classy food for non-exorbitant prices. Feels fancier than Po or Lupa, and costs less. But take a look at the menu.
dining near 53rd and Lex
Don't know if they're the same, but I'm a big fan of the UES Tenzan. Very good rock shrimp with chili mayo, very good beef yaki udon. Can't speak to most of the rolls, but the shrimp ones have been good.

Best Brioche (market, not restaurant), around UES
Had really good Tom Cat brioche hot dog buns, but they are now unfindable. Any other suggestions?
Upper East Side - Any New Foodie Places?
Is that Manolito? I had a paella there that was really great (although probably unconventional).
"Casual and interesting" on UES / UWS
...are my instructions. Probably the only things nixed are sushi, and Flex Mussels (which is exactly the vibe I'm looking for, except that I don't like mussels). Any ideas?
If we liked the atmosphere at Carmine's.....
Both lively restaurants with good food, but the atmosphere (and food itself) couldn't be much farther from Carmine's.
Defonte's Shakey Special
My vote for sandwich of the year. Overload of fresh ham, fried eggplant, lettuce, tomato, fresh mozzerella. Simple but perfect (and huge). I've been good with Defonte's since they opened, but this is the first thing from them that I've thought was really great.
Upper East Side Take Out Italian
78th or 77th... it's a newer location. Should be on seamlessweb too.
Upper East Side Take Out Italian
Talking about different things. I think that brand of Italian-American restaurant food--chicken parm, baked ziti--is almost meant for takeout, and was very common years ago, and is less common in Manhattan now. Partly because people have gotten a taste for more authentic Italian food, but nothing wrong with a good, suburbanized chicken parm either.
Upper East Side Take Out Italian
Ciao Bella Napoli on York. Great chicken parm.

Todd English's Plaza Food Hall
Pizzas and sandwiches weren't too bad price-wise-- I wouldn't have gone for the steaks, though.
Todd English's Plaza Food Hall
Just had a very good chicken sausage and ricotta pizza--like Figs in Boston (or Olives, probably) but with a thicker and I think better crust. Excited for turkey PLT. Anyone else been down there yet?
Cafe Mingala--Amazing (and only) UES Burmese
Recommendations: great curries, especially beef with mango, lemongrass and red curry. Keema--fried layered-crepe pancake with ground beef and potatoes. Knocking out Wa Jeal as my go-to delivery.

Sojourn Restaurant Review
Same here; it's the kind of place that makes you write shillishly. I actually would travel for it, if I didn't live here, but for me it's the perfect weekend-night neighborhood place for very good food in a congenial setting.
