Who is making burgers with local and/or grassfed beef? (PHX)
I have som A Bar H short ribs in the freezer too! I did cook up some of their regular beef ribs a couple weeks ago in the crock pot and they were delicious. I'm curious - what was it that left you unimpressed?
Free range chicken in Arizona
and I 3rd it! I have had their chicken and eggs and was very pleased with both products. Its even better knowing they are local and humanely raised.
Who is making burgers with local and/or grassfed beef? (PHX)
Joe's Farm Grill states that they use "local, natural" beef in their burgers:

And they are VERY good, as are the sweet potato fries and garlic fries. It would be a great place to satisfy that craving of yours. In fact, I feel a burger craving coming on myself...

ISO Sweet Jalepeno Dressing recipe
I'm planning to make an Avocado Chicken salad for dinner tonight with black beans, tomatoes, lettuce, cilantro etc. I'm looking for a great dressing to go with it - something with a bit of a bite to it but won't overpower the ingredients in the salad. Any suggestions?
Family-friendly dining in the East Valley (Phx)?
Flancer's is very family friendly with wonderful sandwiches, salads, pizza, calzones, etc. There is a location in Gilbert and Mesa.

(PHX) NEW! Far East Mesa - ZUSHI
We've completely given up on Zushi. We were hopeful in the beginning but after several negative experiences (food and service) we don't want to waste our money there. We prefer the 25 min drive (for us) to Sushi Eye in Motion. We make the trek religiously every two weeks and never regret it.
Cheese that best pairs with avocado?
I've been getting some great Chipotle Cheddar at Costco that goes well with Avocados. I made an omelette with avocado and the cheese that was amazing. I think the cheese would go great in the sandwich especially if you made it like a panini.
Galangal
Definitely make Tom Ka Gai. Here is a recipe I've used that is great:

Downtown PHX Lunch
Thanks! So, I'm a Grand Juror now. Since we got out early (noon) I picked up some cookies and a cupcake from SweetPea to take home and then headed up Central to try a sandwich from Pane Bianco, a place I've been dying to try (Fabulous by the way!). I'll have the next 4 months to try all of your suggestions. I'm looking at this as a great opportunity to try some restaurants I wouldn't normally get to go to.
Thanks to all of you!!

Downtown PHX Lunch
Thanks Silverbear - it looks like I have several options to pick from tomorrow and if I end up a Grand Jurorist (is that a word?) then I can try all the rest.
Downtown PHX Lunch
Oh cool! Sweet Pea Bakery is the bakery where my mom found a recipe for the cookies she made as favors for my wedding 2 months ago. The recipe was printed in the Republic and the cookies turned out fabulous. I definitely have to stop in there; if not for lunch, afterwards, to pick up some cookies and cupcakes to bring home. Thanks!
Downtown PHX Lunch
I have been summoned for Grand Jury Duty and will be in downtown PHX tomorrow all day praying I don't get picked (if I do, it's 3 days a week for 4 months!!). Anyways, I'm not very familiar with downtown PHX. I'm looking for a quick, but delicious lunch spot I can walk to during whatever lunch break I'm hoping they'll give us. I'll be at the Superior Court of Arizona on 3rd Ave between Madison and Jefferson. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!
phx - local beef at the downtown farmers market
This is very exciting! I was planning on heading down there Sat morning and didn't make it. Now I wish I had. I hope they'll be there next week!
Places to eat in Roseville/Rockland?
Thanks to both of you!! This is all great information.
Benny - sorry, my friend is from the south so sometimes I mishear him. Appreciate the correction! Now I know why my search turned up nothing. :)
Places to eat in Roseville/Rockland?
My best friend is moving to the Roseville/Rockland area outside of Sacramento later this month. After house hunting he came back and said all of the places nearby to eat are all chains which he really wants to avoid if at all possible. To get to any decent restaurants it's a 30 minute drive into Sacramento. Do any of you CH's know of any secret gems in this area so I can help him out? He likes all kinds of food, though Italian is a particular favorite. No budget restrictions necessarily - all price points would be welcome! Just looking for good places to eat (non-chain) that are fairly local. Thanks!
Kizake Sushi opening? (Chandler, AZ)
We had dinner at Sushi Eye in Motion tonight and drove by Kizake afterwards. They had balloons tied to the fence and looked open though we didn't get out of the car. Don't know if we'll even try it though because we love Sushi Eye so much.

just a clarification, DVine is on the NE corner of Power and McDowell. Not that far off ;)
Best Sandwich in Phx?
I haven't been to either the STL or SF places you mention, but every trip we make to Pittsburgh requires a stop at Primanti's - usually late at night! Primanti's is very unique in its own right and I don't think anything anywhere can really compare.
I love Andreoli's panini's and I haven't had a sandwich at Flancer's that I didn't like. Their homemade bread and unique combinations are real winners every time.

I haven't been to the St. Louis or SF places you mention but every trip we make to Pittsburgh we make a stop at Primanti's. I don't think anything can compare to Primanti's as its so unique in my mind. Very different from anything you can get here locally.
I like Andreoli's paninis and I haven't had a sandwhich I didn't like at Flancer's. Their bread is homemade and it makes all the difference.
CSA Help: I got ___ in my CSA box and need recipes!
I love to saute sugar snap peas with garlic and olive oil and then finish at the end with some soy, rice wine vinegar and sriracha. I pour it over brown rice and have a nice filling, healthy and quick meal!
Olive mill and Pork Shop summer hours - Queen Creek
No problem! Our goal is to purchase a whole animal too - as soon as we purchase a nice freezer. I used A Bar H just to try the meat to see how I liked it. I actually met Jay Murphy who is part of OX Ranch at the dinner I went to. Great guy and I'd definitely purchase meat from him in the future.

There are several options but no local butchers that I am aware of.
A Bar H farm makes deliveries to the valley. They are coming again on July 18th. I picked up an order on May 30th. So far we have only tried the porterhouse steaks and were pleased.

I've had the grass fed beef at OX Ranch at a recent "Locavore" dinner at Tapino. The beef also was very good. You can order directly through them:

Ghetto Mexican places in Phoenix/Tempe?
Definitely Suzie's Mexican Cafe on University just east of Price. It's a hole in the wall with the best food. Their Pozole is great too!

Oooh! I haven't tried that. My husband always gets the hickory smoked bacon. I'll have to tell him to pick up that pepper cured bacon. Thanks!
Review: Cowboy Ciao - Scottsdale, AZ (w/ photos!)
Great review Seth! We've enjoyed everything we've had there but our favorites are the mushroom panfry and the chopped salad.
