Gentrification of Los Angeles Chinatown Continues--Little Jewel

So excited to hear about this! I recently visited New Orleans for the first time and was very impressed by the food. Especially the bread, with the light texture and crust that shatters in your mouth. I was sorry that despite LA's great restaurants, there was no real New Orleans restaurant. Can't wait to come over and get a po'boy!

Filipino restaurants

Thanks, all. Sadly, my mom is not Filipino and I can't buy a whole pig, so it's a restaurant or nothing. Unless someone else's mom wants to cook for me. ;)

I guess I need to suck it up and drive.

Filipino restaurants

Are there any good Filipino restaurants that aren't as far away as Arcadia? I am especially looking for good lechon.

I live on the west side and work in Van Nuys, so within reasonable driving distance of those areas would be best.

Cheap, good, with vegetarian options, West LA or therabouts

As the header states. I'm looking for an inexpensive restaurant with vegetarian options (one of the party is vegetarian, but does eat eggs and dairy) vaguely in the West LA area. Culver City or Century City or thereabouts is fine too.

Normally I'd suggest one of the Japanese restaurants on Sawtelle and Olympic, but I think fish broth would be hard to avoid. Also, no Indian food - the vegetarian guest is Indian, and tends to find American Indian food disappointing.

Late night eats near USC

I am seeing a play on Saturday night near USC (24th Street Theatre at Hoover and 24th) and need a place to have dessert or dinner and dessert after the show (around 10:00 PM.) Is there anywhere even remotely nearby that's open that late and isn't a noisy bar?

Failing that, is there anywhere remotely within driving distance?

Arcadia restaurants other than Din Tai Fung

What are good and relatively inexpensive (ie, under $25/person) restaurants in Arcadia other than Din Tai Fung?

Please describe with details, if possible. Thanks!

Pork Floss in Los Angeles

I was recently in Taiwan, where I became addicted to slightly sweet, crispy, paper-thin pork floss (best brand was in a pink plastic bag, but alas that I can't read Chinese), and pork floss onigiri.

Where can I buy pork floss in Los Angeles? (Please be more specific than "Chinatown" or "San Gabriel.") Also, is it possible to find pork floss onigiri here? Or pork floss buns? Pork floss anything?
