Norman's Review Coral Gables 4/9/07

Norman's is by far the BEST restaurant in Miami. It is amazing that as good as the food is, the service is wonderful and the setting is beautiful, how often does that happen? Unfortunatly, Miami is full of phonies and wannabes that would prefer to been seen and act like jerks than go to a culinary oasis. In NYC, chere I lived for 20 years, the only expensive restaurants that survived over the years were they ones with great food and service as it should be.

Christabelle's Quarter (cgrove)

I agree with above. Very poor service and mediocre food. Although a beautiful place its not remotely like a real NO place.

Old Florida Bar

Fox's Sherron Inn on US 1 in South Miami. This joint is all about Sinatra, cigarettes and red lights bathing patrons in alcoholic anonymity. A South Miami staple since 1946, it exists in a time warp, with vinyl booths and subtle details reminiscent of the late '40s and early '50s.

The best Hamburger in Miami Fla.

I grew up in Miami and practically lived at the Royal Castle on SW 8th ST and 15th Ave right down the street from the Tower Theater where us kids went for the Saturday matinee. Burgers were 7 cents and Birch beer was 15 cents. Fritas are not hamburgers, but a kind of suasage patty piled high with shoestring fries under the bun. The famous one on "calle ocho" was Fritas Domino on the corner of SW 12 Ave. They were delicious! But they are not traditional "bombers" or "belly sliders" like White Castle and Royal Castle burgers. There are still 2 RC shops in Miami.
