Best Dim Sum in 905

IMO, Lai Wah Heen is better.

Lai Wah Heen

Böhmer on Ossington

I think this opened on Saturday. Anyone have a chance to try it out yet?

Toni Bulloni - Thornhill

Is this the same place that's in Yorkville?

Mildred's has a highly unusual promotion for VD

That promotes VD in more ways than one.

Can we revisit the PATH?

Ho Shim also has a $4 (tax-in) chicken + rice thing. It's not very good though.

where to eat pasta in Toronto?

I prefer Buca over my recent visit to Mistura. I haven't been to Tutti Matti in ages though. More places need to add an egg to their pasta dishes.

where to eat pasta in Toronto?

Might want to try Buca.

Momofuku Noodle vs. Setagaya

Momofuku and Ippudo both serve their egg hard-boiled. Does any ramen place serve the egg a bit runny inside?

Group Dinner at Yonge and 401?

Auberge du Pommier has a private room that will accommodate a party of 12 and it's away from the main dining area so you can be as loud as you want.

My "Get to Know You" Date At Negroni

Do you mean panini?

High/Low Dining - does anyone else do this?

Can I get the panini from El Quinto Pino as takeout?

'wichcraft

Anyone know if the Greeley Sq location has the full menu including breakfast?

Your top cheap eats

Quesadillas? That's almost like a taco.
Boyz now serves a haddock burrito that isn't fried. You can always make it less hearty by holding the rice and beans.

Locanda Verda

Can we still get Carmellini's fried chicken here?

Your top cheap eats

I believe you mean z-teca. I prefer bandidos/boyz though.

London Recommendations for a US hound please?

I'm staying near Paddington also, pretty much next to Edgware Rd tube station. Any recs for some cheap eats within walking distance?

Service disaster at One Restaurant

Not surprised at all. Had an equally horrible service experience there a year ago. Haven't gone back since despite the delicious food and comped dishes due to said service. FOH there is a joke and I don't think anyone should have to put up with it.

ISO a great Mac and Cheese

Try the one at Fran's.

The return of Kenzo Ramen

That would depend on the type of ramen you order. Tonkotsu isn't on the menu but the old location used to have it advertised in the restaurant.

Who is doing seared foie... right now?

Trevor, Bymark and Cafe du Lac definitely.

I also had it at Reds a couple weeks ago.

Chicken shawarma on Yonge between College and Dundas

I prefer the brisket with charmoula mayo.

Chicken shawarma on Yonge between College and Dundas

The 3 along Yonge on this stretch are Doner Kebab House, Little House of Kebabs and whatever Red & White is now called. The best in the area, however, is Milo's Pita in the food court of Toronto Life Centre.

Bamburger??

I think they just opened last week. I haven't tried it yet but menu is up on their site http://www.bamburger.ca/

Prices looked reasonable until you realize they really gouge you on the toppings. $1.25 for pickles? $1.35 for mayo? $7 for a side poutine?

First time in Toronto - what are the must trys?

Gandhi at Queen/Bathurst
Chinese in Richmond Hill / Hwy 7
Street dog
Burrito Boyz at Adelaide/Simcoe

boston foodie needs recs - eating solo

I'd recommend Chinese because you can't get it as good in Boston.

Colborne Lane over-rated?

I don't know... Squeakycheese has a pretty compelling argument.

If so many other places in the world can do it better, why should we have to settle for this?

Even if we have to compare with Toronto standards, I'd still say it's mediocre at best and there are better ways of spending your money in this city. Then again, higher-end dining in this city is seriously lacking compared to other major cities.

Colborne Lane over-rated?

I don't think it's anything special or that the food is the best you can get at that price either. The few times I've been there I've always felt less than amazed by the dishes. I have no qualms about the portions though.

Cafe or dessert lounge open evenings in GTA

7pm is pretty early. You could probably still go to any restaurant and order dessert and sit there for a few hours.

If you want really late then your choices are more limited and probably not as good. 7 West Cafe on Charles St. is open 24/7. Insomnia and Futures on Bloor, and Spin Dessert on Queensway are all open until 2am or so.
