Pizzuto Ravioli in Eatontown

I didn't have this experience at all when we tried it. The homemade ravioli are awesome and my husband is still drooling over the selection of dried sausages/meats. They have both italian and portugese varietes. Would definitely go back. Their Vodka sauce is also really good-and I am very picky with my Vodka sauce!

Casual girls night out dinner in Ocean/Monmouth co.

Stay far away from the Melting Pot unless you just want drinks and dessert! Pretty much a chain place anyway. The food is horrible!
Just went to the Lagosta Lounge and it's fun and not too pricey. Looking forward to going back. Bamboo Leaf in Bradley is wonderful-great food.
Have fun!

BYO Red Bank/Long Branch/Nearby....

I realize this question has been asked ad nauseum, but I'm looking for a good BYO in the area and when I do a search many of the postings are from several years ago. It's my husband's birthday next week and we will be going out on a Wednesday. Presently we are addicted to Kanji in Tinton Falls so I would be looking for either Italian or New American. Haven't been to Joe and Maggies in Long Branch-but some of the newer reviews here were not favorable. Anyone try anything new lately?
Thanks!
Denise

2 Nights in AC, Need romantic, awesome dinner

We recently ate at the Knife and Fork Inn. Which is down Atlantic Ave south of the Tropicana. Food was excellent, wine list very good and excellent service. I would think you would have to drive there though.

Also ate at a really good Italian place in the Borgata. I cannot remember the name but it was downstairs from the casino floor. Really good homemade pasta. I had gnocci that practically melted when eaten!
Have a great time and happy anniversary!

Kanji in Tinton Falls

I did bring my keptag, but we just told the waitress and she gave us the app on the house. She didn't ask to see any proof.

Kanji in Tinton Falls

Went to try out Kanji Friday night in Tinton Falls in the Work Out World Plaza. Really great meal! Very nice decor-sort of modern Asian I would call it. It's a big place-seating on the right when you come in and Hibachi tables straight ahead. Sushi bar in the back. Our waitress informed us that the chef came from Sawa in Eatontown and has over 20 years experience. Everything we ordered was great! There were four of us. We ordered four appetizers (one on the house since we are members of WOW). The beef Negimaki was the best I ever had. The beef was done perfectly with really good flavor. Also tried the calamari-which came looking like onion rings with a spicy dipping sauce. Also ordered two tuna apps- one called green phoenix and another I cannot recall the name of but had a cilantro based sauce to it. All the apps were really good. For dinner my husband and I both ordered various rolls of sushi and our friends ordered special rolls. My sushi was excellent-perfectly done and fresh. For the table we also ordered a roll called the Amazing Tuna Roll that came with a mango sauce. Seriously one of the best rolls I've ever had!! My friend ordered a dish called Kanji Ruby which looked like a large tomato but actually was pieces of tuna placed around a large amount of crabmeat and served with a cilantro sauce. The other friend had a dish called the Zombie Wrap which was like a wrap sandwich but made with a Japanese pancake and was filled with tuna and salmon. Really yummy. For dessert, they have tempura ice cream, but I just got my favorite Red Bean ice cream plain. My husband tried the Green Tea ice cream. Both were fabulous! The service was really good as well. I really highly recommend this place-check it out!! BTW it's a byob but there is a Spirits liquor store right next door. (Although for a really good local wine shop I would recommend the Wine Cellar on Monmouth Street in Red Bank but that's a whole other posting! :) )

Anniversary Dinner at The Jersey Shore?

We've eaten at the Knife and Fork twice and really liked it. Great food and wine list. Also by the Trop.

Any good places in Bradley Beach?

I agree with the above entries. Osaka is really good for sushi, but not too much else. I am not a fan of Nonna Piaccone's either-although their deli is good. I would recommend walking into Ocean Grove for lunch-some really cute places on the main street with outside dining. Beach Plum (Bradley) has very good ice cream BTW. For seafood drive into Belmar. Went to Klein's a week or so ago and it was not bad (on 71 right by the bridge).

Piccola Italia - Summer Menu

I'm really surprised that you had such a bad experience there. I've eaten there many times and the service has been excellent and accomidating. My husband is a CIA graduate and former chef/front of the house manager and is really picky about service, and he was very pleased there. Sorry you had such a bad experience! You should try it again and let the management know about your former experience there.

menus with vegetarian options mon. county

Zuleyka's is on Front street, west of Broad. They have really good turkey chili and Cuban sandiwches. I haven't tried their veggie choices. I think they are only open for lunch as well.

Drinks/bites near Bradley Beach

Meeting some friends in the Bradley Beach area on Sunday afternoon for a casual get together. Would like to try something new-we keep meeting at the Columns in Avon. Any good suggestions for the area?
Thanks!

HELP! Desperate for res for 8 in AC

Call the concierge at the Borgata and see if they can help you. Sometimes they have an "in" that you won't be able to get with just calling around! I've had really good luck doing this when I travel.
Good luck!

Renault Winery Restaurant or Marriott Seafood Prix Fix?

The food is good at the Renault, but the wine is tolerable at most! I've heard really good things about the Marriott Seaview and I would think $55 for a 6 course meal is a good price. Have a good time!
If you go into AC, I've recently eaten at the Knife and Fork Inn and it was fabulous! I think our bill for apps, dinner, dessert, and a glass of wine each came to about $100 + tip. But worth every penny! Very nice atmosphere as well.

Fuji in Shrewsbury

Just letting everyone know that Fuji in Shrewsbury on 35 in the Staples shopping plaza (used to be Treasure Island shopping center) has changed owners and sushi chefs and has taken a downturn! Total shame since it was my absolute favorite sushi in Monmouth county! There is another sushi/Japanese steakhouse-I think called KiKi or Kiku or something similar- opening in the Work Out World center in Tinton Falls (by the A&P on 35) that I'm hoping the old owners of Fuji went to. I can only hope!! :)

Anyone have any other suggestions for sushi near Eatontown? We like unusual combos and not the normal rolls.

Thanks Chowers!

Piccola Italia-Ocean NJ

Seriously people, if you haven't yet gone you are missing out big time! Met friends there last night for dinner and was once again pleased with everything we were given! The food is FANTASTIC and this really is the best restaurant in Monmouth County! To start they give you bruschetta and a plate of olives for the table. They also serve an amuse buche which last night was curried chicken over German potato salad. We ordered a few appetizers for the table-antipasto (in which the vegetables are grilled), fried oysters over a bean ragout (amazing and my favorite thing), and a frisee salad with duck confit atop. Everything was wonderful. They have a complementary wine list as well. For entrees, I ordered a risotto frutti di mare. It was served in a huge bowl overflowing with clams, mussels, fish, calamari and a large king crab leg over perfectly done risotto. My husband ordered a veal chop and the rest of the party ordered porcini dusted scallops, breast of duck with truffle risotto, and a combination plate featuring short ribs and NY strip steak. Everything was raved about. For dessert the table ordered the cheese plate and that was the only thing that not everyone was pleased with (we are cheese lovers and the plate was very basic). Service is tremendous as well, with new glasses brought out when we changed wines and new silverware given prior to the main dish.
They also have a bar area with full service for dinner that is very nice. Can't wait to go back already!
If you are looking for really great dining, you really need to check it out! BTW-it's off Rt35 in Ocean on W. Park Avenue in Cobblestone Village. YUM!

Piccola Italia - Summer Menu

I totally agree. Tried Angelica's the other night after all the raves here and the food was good, but not fantastic. Our meal at Piccola Italia was FANTASTIC. I hope they still have the oyster dish on the appetizer menu. I still crave eating it! Definitely my top pick in Monmouth as well
Looking forward to the new menu-thanks for the update

Any suggestions for good food and excellent service in SHREWSBURY, NJ?

I agree that San Remo is very good. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food and service were great
My favorite is Piccolo Italia (sp?) in Ocean in Cobblestone Village. Blows Angelica's away in my opinion. Excellent food and good wine selections.
Thyme Square in Red Bank on Broad street is also good. Hard to get into on a weekend though.

McLoone's - Pier Village (Long Branch)

Pier Village is a waste which is a shame. Friends of ours went to the Avenue and after dinner wanted to go upstairs and have a drink. They were told they "weren't the kind of people" that they wanted in the bar! Our friend's are early 50's, good looking couple and just spent way too much on mediocre food. Needless to say we will never eat there! Went to McLoone's once and left after waiting almost an hour to get our food at the bar. It was a cheese plate, an hour to get a cheese plate! Never would go back. Oh well!

Half Bottles in New Jersey?

The Wine Cellar in Red Bank on Monmouth Street has a nice selection as well.

What is the best brand of plain nonfat yogurt?

I also love Fage. It's a Greek yogurt, so thick and creamy. A little on the expensive side for yogurt, but really a treat. I think Stoneyfield is the best "regular" yogurt. Stay away from store brands, they are usually nasty!

The old Toyko restaurant in Eatontown on Rte 35.

Fuji is my absolute favorite! Rt 35 in Shrewsbury in the Staples strip mall (There used to be a Treasure island there-it's across from the Acme/Marshall's shoping area and just south of the library). They have some of the best sushi I have ever had. Try the King Louis roll on the special sushi menu. Really great. They also have hibachi, but I have not tried it.

Fune in Eatontown, NJ

Picolo Italia is really good. Don't miss the oysters on the appetizer menu!

Lorenzo's Freehold

Lorenzo decided to retire-he needed a break after all those years. I drove by the new Mexican place the other day and all the specials were Italian food! Maybe the cooks stayed on? Anyone eaten there since?
