Please help me with a wiener!

Third for Mattern. My parents were both born and raised in Germany and swear by this place.

It's DineLA Time Again: 1/22-27/12; 1/29-2/3/12

I've had great dineLA meals before at the Bazaar and BLT Steak. So far have reservations at Scarpetta, Cleo and Fig & Olive. Can't wait until next week!

Great fish sandwiches - where?

I usually always get the Ahi Tuna sandwich for lunch with I go to Taste on Melrose.

Any new places near Highland/Hollywood or Sunset/Vine?

I went to Delphine for their Monday night special on 8/2. If you go, make sure to go EARLY! We went at 8pm and they were already running out of the some the specials that were offered (lobster rolls, prosecco, pinot grigio, etc...).

Another option based on the OP is a new burger place that opened up on Hollywood (corner Hollywood and Ivar), Juicy Burger. Bigger portions than Umami and cheaper.

Lunch or dinner in Miracle Mile or Park La Brea

If you're looking into burgers since you mentioned Umami in your post, there's also Golden State on Fairfax.

Goodbye Del Taco at Santa Monica and Highland.

I'm with you jesstifer - this Del Taco was my go to late night fast food joint as well. I'm going to miss it!!! I think they're building a drug store in its place - like we really need another one of those in our area!

California Pizza Kitchen

I actually like CPK as well, but have been hesistant to go lately b/c I feel like their prices have gotten too high! I remember a few years back when their pizzas and full size salads were mostly all around $9-$10 and considered a good deal.

ISO fantastic FALAFEL

Has anybody tried Muma on Melrose? I haven't been there yet, but have heard their falafel is supposed to be really good...

Looking for a restaurant to do a Roast. Think rat pack/men's club...

The Palm in WeHo has a private room in the back.

Westside Basic Mexican

Yeah I haven't been in years, was just trying to name the place that maybe the poster was thinking of on Lincoln.

La Cabana?

Taste of the Nation LA

I'll be there! I can't wait - all of the menus do sound amazing!

Best French Toast in LA

I love the French Toast at Mercantile - topped with Maple cream cheese ice cream! Yummy!

Sweet & Sour Pork, Kung Pao Chicken, Shrimp in Lobster Sauce!! WHERE CAN I FIND THEM!!!

Second Hunan Taste - I love their Slippery Shrimp and Hunan Chicken. My co-workers and I actually really like going there for lunch too - they have good lunch specials (hot and sour soup, small salad and large entree of your choice) for about $10. Also, we can be in and out w/in an hour, even if it's a large group.

Red O Opening Night Report

Thanks for the report and the pictures! Can't wait to try it!

Delancey on Sunset

I went to the Mercantile a few weeks back for brunch and it was fantastic! Had the french toast with the maple cream cheese ice cream and my friend had the hang over helper. That maple cream cheese ice cream was amazing, so rich but so good!

Best fried chicken in LA? where is it?

Did you go last night? What did you think? I live right by there and have always thought about stopping by, but never have.

New Wine bars in Mid-wilshire/Weho area?

How about Tasca Wine Bar on 3rd St.? I really like their arancini and braised short rib. I also believe they have a happy hour on the weekdays.

Hollywood Happy Hours?

My friends and I really like the Den of Hollywood (on Sunset, near Crescent Heights). Great happy hour deals and they have a nice patio out front too.

CHINESE take out in HOLLYWOOD/ No need to be healthy

My go to for Chinese food in Hollywood is the Green Tea House on Sunset (near Poinsettia). Good portions, decent prices. The delivery is always fast too (20 minutes or so). I really like their General Tsao's chicken, beef with mushrooms & bamboo shoots and war wonton soup.

delicious TAKE OUT sushi in hollywood

LOL - yes the names are definitely more on the creative side :) Their Fountain roll is spicy tuna on the inside and yellowtail on the outside topped with jalepeno and masago. The To Heaven roll is wrapped in cucumber (no rice) filled with pieces of tuna, salmon, red snapper, shrimp and crab meat. Both were really good - after writing that now I am hungry and craving sushi!

delicious TAKE OUT sushi in hollywood

I ordered delivery from Ajito Sushi the other night and was very happy with the results. Both the delivery driver and the hostess that took my order were very friendly. Most importantly, the rolls were huge, tasted great and they certainly didn't skimp on the fish (I got a Fountain roll and a To Heaven roll). Both were delicious and I'd definitely order from there again.

Oak Fire Pizzeria in WEHO

I drive by this place everyday on my way to work and noticed that they put up a new sign this week announcing a bunch of lunch specials for under $10... I hope to go back soon and check those out too!

LA Street Food Fest

The Flying Pig Truck also had an extremely long wait - we waited for an hour and a half in line to order and then about another hour and a half for our food (while walking around and sampling other food in the meantime b/c they were so slow). Didn't get to try the fried chicken from Chef Ludo due to the long wait :( But did try the blazin' shrimp taco and the komodo signature taco from the Komodo truck. Both were really good, but the shrimp taco was my favorite food item of the day out of everything I did have, including the pork belly bun from the FPT (mine needed more sauce on it). All in all, I think the event was a success, but I agree that there has to be a better system. The lines were really long for some of the trucks and you couldn't even see where they wrapped around to since the trucks were so close by each other and there were so many people. Looking forward to my toffee rice krispy treat from the Sweets Truck later :)

Taco Tuesday

I second Marix - they also have a great margarita Monday, with $4 pints all day. All of the Cabo/ Fiesta Cantinas have a decent taco Tuesday as well (one of the only things I will eat there) especially if you go during their 2 for 1 happy hour.

Dine LA Restaurant Week 2010

I wanted to report back - went to the Bazaar last night for dinner for dineLA and it was absolutely fantastic! I went with a friend and both of us were completely full before the desserts even came. We did order one more extra that wasn't included (the tuna ceviche and avocado roll), but found that the portions were decent and very flavorful. Karyn - we did go with your suggestion of getting the Jamon dish, it was one of our favorites as well! I would definitely go back again!

Lively restaurant for 10 person birthday dinner--- full bar, ~$20pp w/o drinks, in West Hollywood

What about Saint Felix? Close to the Abbey and the food is pretty good. Not sure what time you're planning your party for, but they do have a great happy hour from 4-8pm.

OC Birthday Dinner, tired of all the chains...Help!

Have you tried Pina's Bistro in Tustin? Small, family owned restaurant in a strip mall, but don't let that fool you - the food is fabulous!

Dine LA Restaurant Week 2010

Great, thanks everyone for the suggestions! I think we're definitely going to try it. I've been to the bar area before and agree with attran99, they were remarkable!

Dine LA Restaurant Week 2010

Were you full after the meal? Bazaar is on our list of places to go during dineLA this time too, but not sure if it will be worth it?
