2 weeks of eating in Spain

I'm flying into Madrid in June. From there I'll spend a week getting to Barcelona - in a very indirect way as I search out great scenery, great towns and most importantly, great food. I was thinking about taking a route along the northern coast but I can go anywhere a car or train can take me. I know it's a very broad request but is there any place that I absolutely must go? Or, are there any indispensable books or websites that anyone knows of that will help me discover the true gems - as opposed to the touristy destinations. Like I said, I can go anywhere I want and would love to find some small, more obscure towns.... Thanks in advance for any advice.

By the way, I'll be in Barcelona for a full week too.

new office at 26th/9th--where to eat lunch?

For Chinese go to Grand Szechuan on 9th and 24th. The Azou (sp?) chicken is freaking delicious. Not a light meal but worth getting.

The best NYC steakhouse?

I disagree. Great steaks, yes but I think there are better steak houses. I also disagree with your take on the atmosphere, I think it's exactly what sets Luger apart. To me it's a destination steakhouse more than a steak steakhouse if that makes any sense.

I've been all over but my first choice is definitely The Palm. I'm surprised it hasn't gotten any airtime on this thread. Every once in a blue moon I'll get a steak there that's merely excellent but 90% of the time it's perfect. And if you haven't tried it before, order your steak "Pittsburg Style". Charred on the outside, rare/medium rare inside.

Bistro Du Soleil??any improvement?

I've eaten there within the last year and wasn't happy with it. If you're looking for a bistro, head up Broadway a little to Le Monde b/w 112 & 113. I think you'll be better off.

NYC's All City Best Buffalo wings (2007)

They depart ever so slightly from true Buffalo wings but the wings at RUB on 23rd street are phenomenal. The reach a level I've never had before. They just might be to big to qualify as "Buffalo" but if you turn your nose up at them you'd be missing out.

recommendations for places around rockefeller center

Stella has great Italian food but it'd be tough to keep it under $30 unless you skip drinking, dessert... Plenty of grissini, olives, bread as freebies.
