Bloem Sugar Belgian Waffles in Powell Street BART Station

Place is Closed up now.

Brown Sugar Kitchen Review [Oakland]

Heard about Brown Sugar Kitchen for years and finally tried it. Ate some oatmeal at home so I wasn't hungry when I went. Hate to be starving & having to wait. Drive from Fremont is about 30 min, FREE street parking in front & in the back of the restaurant.

Got there about 8:50am on Sun 4/15/12 and the small place was filled up with a waiting list. Got on the list and had to wait only about 10 minutes. Wait after 9am looked pretty bad, 2 benches outside the place to wait. Got 2 seats at the counter.

I got Cornmeal Waffle w/ apple cider syrup $8 - takes some time to get the waffle, it's just one waffle, some butter, & the syrup. I thought the syrup was very sweet & not my favorite, but I didn't want to spend $2 more for Maple Syrup. Waffle was very light & crispy. I liked it. I'm going to try to find a cornmeal waffle recipe online & make my own at home.

B. got cheesy grits w/ poached eggs $8 - he liked it, I found the grits just ok, I'm not a fan of poached eggs.

One piece of Buttermilk fried chicken $4 - B. said it was the best fried chicken he's ever had. I found it was pretty juicy.

Coffee $1.84 - black coffee w/ cream on the side. More coffee offered if u want.

Charged our meal $23.75 before tip. Separate bathrooms - women's just one sink/one toilet from entrance turn Left.

Seen on KQED Check Please. Check out the Oakland mural & street art across the street.

Enjoy Vegetarian Restaurant - Kearny location, SF w/ Pics

I tried Enjoy Vegetarian Restaurant for lunch Sun 3/11/12 since CCNGo named it one of the top 50 Chinese restaurants in the US. I thought it was ok.

They have a good lunch deal M-F 11-2:30p which includes soup of the day, main dish, brown or steamed rice, & spring roll for $7.50!

No Msg, garlic or onions in any dishes, Buddhist don't eat those things.

Since it was Sun I couldn't get that deal. FREE hot tea brought to the table.

I got Eggplant Tofu Basil $8.50 - It's a plate of eggplant, fried tofu squares, & a few basil in a brown sauce. I liked it ok.

Brown rice $1.25 for a small bowl - have to order that separate, doesn't come with the entree.

Bathrooms: Separate Woman/Man, singles. There's a sign for Non-Customers it's $2 per person to use the bathroom!

Charge cards accepted: Master Card, Visa, Discover

Ken Ken Ramen & Boba Guys, SF? Asian Night Market 3/8-3/10

Tried Ken Ken Ramen Thurs 3/8/12 for dinner. Got there 5:50pm and was the 2nd in line. Suppose to check in with the hostess, but didn't notice her until later I just grabbed a seat at the bar.

I got a Shoyu ramen $11 - comes w/ noodle, pea shoots, 1 bok choy slice, 2 thick & well done pork slices, green onions, broth, & 1 soft boiled egg. I liked it fine. Ate it in about 20 min.

Then I got a Boba milk tea $4 - It was nice, ate some of the boba, had a bunch left that I didn't finish. They use Straus milk & Indian loose tea.

Subtotal $15 + $1.28 tax = $16.28 before tip. Charged it.

One small unisex bathroom next to the Hostess, opposite side of the Ramen bar.

Techno music played, can be loud in there.

Brasa - Peruvian chicken (and more) in Berkeley

We went Sat 3/3/12 so it wasn't busy. Their credit card machine wasn't working when I went, had to pay in cash which sucks. Make sure they give you back the correct change back.

Look at their menu on the screen then order & pay. We got:

half chicken w/ 2 sides $12. We picked french fries & veggie salad. Chicken was pretty good though I thought on the small side. I think I could eat an entire half chicken myself. French fries didn't eat, it's a lot though. Veggie salad was a small bowl filled with a bit of avocado, beets, carrots - just ok for me.

Anticuchos $6 was 6 little beef hearts I guess cut up & more fries. I asked if fries come with it & she told me no, I knew it did. Hearts were tough & chewy, not tender. Not my favorite.

Chicha Morada $2 ea - sweet purple corn drink. Fine, not that special.

Alfajores 2 for $3. Comes in separate plastic envelopes. I liked them, not enough powder sugar for me, but cookies & caramel inside is good.

Our total $27.19.
