Best matzoh ball soup in bk

Willing to travel from Carroll Gardens. Have a really mean craving for a nice ball of traditional matzoh ball soup - not the mile end version. Looking more for a 2nd Ave Deli version, with noodles.

Any suggestions?

Sit-down appetizing restaurant in Brooklyn?

What about mile end? They have bagels as part of lunch, I think.

Great/fun cooking/butchering/knife classes in BK

We had a great time learning how to make dumplings at the brooklyn kitchen. I believe they have knife skills/butchering/sausage making and similar types of classes.

Halal food in NYC is disappointing

Have you tried Freddie's king of shawarma? His cart is on 53rd and park and it is incredible. He doesn't have the Greek gyro meat - he has actual chicken or lamb roasting on a rotating spit.

The real Grand Sichuans?

I think 3rd and 25th is actually great Sichuan.

By the way, I had given up on the st marks location because it rapidly went downhill, but I gave it another shot a few weeks ago and it was very good.

Dining suggestions with a one year old

We usually find that most places are accommodating, as long as you're part of the first seating. After that, it gets rough for everyone: you, other diners, and the restaurant.

a week in paris with 2 year old

We spent 4 days in Paris with our 1 1/2 year old in October (we're also from brooklyn). We ended up having one really nice lunch at itineraires and one really nice dinner at ze kitchen galarie. At both places, our daughter was welcomed with open arms - in fact, at both places, the chef came out and asked if it would be ok if he cooked for her specifically. Of course we said yes (they made her an incredible vanilla mashed potatoes and fish at itineraires and a gorgeous puréed carrot and broccoli soup at ze kitchen. In fact, at ze kitchen, they ran out of the restaurant and grabbed a high chair from a neighboring hotel for us to use.

So, short story, don't worry about bringing your kid. We just made sure to ply her with coloring books and if absolutely necessary our iphone. The only tough part was the late dinner times, but our daughter got use to it quickly.

We filled in the rest of our meals with take aways from some shops, some small restaurants near our hotel, and whatever pastry looked amazing at the time we passed it.

Have fun!

Hail Caesar!

but my point is is that $19 for the caesar at carbone is actually in line with caesar salad's at other nice restaurants. heck, at sam's place, a hole in the wall italian restaurant i eat at sometimes on 37th street, the caesar for two is $14. it's $14 for one at the breslin, $13 at a steakhouse like wolfgang's. so how is $19 for a salad that feeds three people out of line with that, especially if you get a tableside show with it?

Hail Caesar!

what's your point? the one at the breslin is $14 and only serves one person. the one we had at carbone easily served 3 people and is made tableside.

Update on Peter Luger Meal - Big Disappointment

i once saw rich kotite walk into the PL's in great neck in mesh shorts and sandals. i think he was fired as head coach of the jets that same year. not sure if there's a correlation there.

Food near Dana Farber

just a quick note that we ended up taking a short drive down brookline avenue and found ourselves on commonwealth ave. went to the first place we saw, which was eastern standard. great looking space, nice looking menu. too bad i wasn't feeling too hot, so i mostly picked at a fruit salad and granola and some type of scone. the tea i got smelled like bad lavender.

thanks for all the suggestions. i'm sure i'll be back up, and probably next time without a car, so i'll take up some of these.

i wasn't thinking - we're actually taking the train out of back bay, not south station, so if there's anything near there that would be worthwhile, please let me know.

Food near Dana Farber

i'm coming up tomorrow for an appointment at dana farber. can anyone recommend anything around the center? i haven't been back to boston since i graduated college 10 years ago, and never really spent that much time in brookline anyway, but i'm just looking for a place to get a solid lunch on saturday before getting back on the train to new york saturday afternoon.

and, if there's really nothing worthwhile in the area, if you could give me some suggestions for right around south station, that would be great, too.

any cuisine, any price range, as long as it's delicious.

thanks -

Unpleasant experience at CAGEN Sushi in East Village (former Kaijitsu space)

we ordered chinese food from our local place yesterday and got a big quart of white rice. my 18 month old daughter could not stop eating it; she was shoving mounds of rice into her mouth. all i could think about was this thread.

How to place my order like a local at Ess-A-Bagel?

you know that you can go to the line in the back, get a single bagel and a side of cream cheese and make it yourself, right? that's what i normally do.
