Mish Mosh Soup

I've never heard of mishmosh soup. I make a mishmosh soup or stew of left overs. That's the only mish mosh I know. ;~D

potato salad recipe [moved from Kosher]

Nope, kosher deli. Although the coleslaw was creamy, it was from a ton of mayo and not as much vinegar as many places use.
As for potato salad
I find if you let the potatoes cool completely or even a couple of hours in the fridge and then mix in the ingredients you get a creamier dish.

Thanks, Marty.
Prices are so good, I wish I had the koyach and the $$ to get up there with a cooler and dry ice!

potato salad recipe [moved from Kosher]

What I found was that the whipped dressings are better than straight mayo for potato salads, but I'm not fixated on any one style. It all depends upon what I have in the fridge!
I've been away from NY for too many years - 38 years - and the deli memories I have are the thin dough shelled potato knishes; half sours that weren't too salty; coleslaw that was creamy; hot dogs that were boiled and often grilled.
Rye bread that didn't fall apart in a sandwich.

How much is extra lean hamburger, please?
(And please read my reply to queenscook about prices. Reading your specials makes me so envious!

If I had enough money to buy a house...I live actually closer to the Maryland state line in treyf PA. It's a major excursion to get meat other than in a few stores where we can buy frozen Empire poultry and Hebrew national Franks.
As for commuting. Metro DC fares are ridiculous and the subway system while clean isn't open 24/7 and is restricted compared to the extensive NY subway system. I have to first drive 45 minutes to get to Frederick, MD and take the Amtrak to get into Gaithersburg to catch the metro to Silver Spring.
I was born and lived in Brooklyn until I married and moved away. Lived in the Flatbush area near Midwood HS, so I miss the ease and freedom to live a truly Jewish and kosher life
Commuting sucks outside of NYC. You have to drive everywhere and with gas prices...
Yes, real estate may be cheaper and I say maybe outside of DC, say and the wealthier suburbs, but then you have to factor in the cost of driving everywhere; trying to find kosher food or restaurants - non-existent except for one or two down in Silver Spring and DC.
Please, be grateful for the ability to live a kosher life without going on expeditions!
For poor Jews like my husband and me, the cost of keeping kosher and observant is high.
I was reticent about my feelings re. access to kosher food:
I would sell my soul to have a choice of close by places to shop at!

I'm from the Silver Spring, MD area and all I can say is, you guys are so lucky about price!
