What's the difference between Spanish and Mexican?
Is it all about the spices? Curing?

Restaurants and Bars around the world you would love to clone..

Can't speak for the World, but I'd go for a hologram of Arthur Bryant holding court over his pit men
at Arthur Bryant's. Throw in a La Cumbre circa 1983 when I first discovered the wonder of
a Mission Burrito.
And Town Topic in KC for the aroma of fresh ground burgers with grilled onions along
with hash browns and fried eggs at 3:00 am in an all comers 24 hour diner.

Which Two Cuisines for the Rest of your Life?

I would guess you are eliminating "American" as a cuisine, even though foods Caruden identifies
as American have their roots in Immigrant cultures. It seems all foods become Americanized
after a few years or more so a few generations.
This might become another of those authentic threads.
BTW,I'd say Mexican and Thai just to contribute to the mix. :)

Frozen Burritos-Do You Eat Them?

We don't have any Aldi's around here. Are they as good as their other house brand stuff?

Road trip: WY to VA to AZ, and back to WY

US81 down to Salina is 4 lanes almost all the way. Only about 60 miles between I-80 and I-70.

There are Runza Huts in Lawrence and KC also, + real Bierrocks.
Here is Keith's Kansas Travel website with a sampling of various stuff-

And don't forget the Garden of Eden :)

Road trip: WY to VA to AZ, and back to WY

I tried.It still has better,quirkier food than Nebraska. :)

Oklahoma Joe's is open late enough and is an OK part of town + Tony Bourdain loves it. :)

Keith Gilabert: "Two words,,,,, chili-spaghetti at Bob's Big boy!"

BBQ.

Keith Gilabert: "Two words,,,,, chili-spaghetti at Bob's Big boy!"

Weird. One in Bismark, North Dakota. I wonder what's up with that?

Keith Gilabert: "Two words,,,,, chili-spaghetti at Bob's Big boy!"

Where are there still Bob's Big Boys?

Road trip: WY to VA to AZ, and back to WY

I'll switch over to the GP board ,but I've driven back from Oregon to KC lots.
I-70 has better food and less trucks than I-80. That's why my suggestion to drop
down on 81or 281. Plus Cozy Inn is iconic.. See you on the Great Plains board.

Road trip: WY to VA to AZ, and back to WY

Are you dropping down fromI-80 on US281 or US81? Cozy Inn for sliders in Salina. There are 100+ cue joints in KC, so where you spend the night
would be a help in directing towards any certain one.Or two. :) Lots of breakfasts in KC too.

California Mexican vs. Tex Mex?

Thanks, chmann-
what a great video

California Mexican vs. Tex Mex?

I've never heard of Macayo's or Phoenix taking credit.
Here's a Sunset article discussing El Charro and Club 21 in Tucson-

Cincinnati chili has no kidney beans?

Well that certainly opens a can of beans. :)

Best truckstop food across the us?

http://www.heavenonearthrestaurant.com/
cinnamon rolls and country cooking....
I'll agree with potato house about Petro's. OK buffet for the money.
Had a good green chile stew at the one near I-80 and I-25 in Wyoming last summer, for instance.

Cincinnati chili has no kidney beans?

No, it isn't important . Chili has long since departed from the "original" Texas concept,if that is even real. What about White Chili with Chicken? Do you seek to discredit it too?

Food Network Does It Again

I like those breads too, but for some things as mentioned above plain old white bread is the
carrier of choice.

Food Network Does It Again

Don't be silly.White bread is the standard for BBQ.
It also does make classic American sandwiches like ham with mayo, lettuce, and tomato.Or substitute roast beef or chicken if you like.
Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches demand white bread.
I'm sorry you are so jaded..

Food Network Does It Again

Your contention is folks in the East don't put mayo on sandwiches? Is there a cutoff line?
Roast Beef and Ham sandwiches with mayo were standard in the Midwest of my youth.

A girl just posted the real formula/recipe which she wrote down while working there.
Chow.

Am I in the "Greater Seattle" area or PNW?

Seems we discussed whether the whole Puget Sound area should be included when the boards were split, but the Powers that be in NYC decided otherwise. I would have to go back through my post history to find those discussions.

POLL: Can you walk to an actual grocery store?

What's the difference to you? The terms are the same to me.

Del Taco

what secret menu? We haave one here in SO that I hit occasionally. They have both "American" and "Mexican"tacos.
Hmm. I'll be back. :)

Jack in the Box 2/$.99 Cheeseburgers

I'm in Southern Oregon. I just assumed they were at least West Coast wide.
I'll ask the manager tomorrow.

Jack in the Box 2/$.99 Cheeseburgers

I meant the cheeseburgers, not the places, but I like your answer. :)
I think they are expanding into Ohio next.

Jack in the Box 2/$.99 Cheeseburgers

What a deal. For a limited time only, 2 nifty old school regular cheeseburgers with mustard, ketchup, and pickle.
If they would put these on the menu beside the 2 tacos for $.99, I could leave a standing order at the drive thru.
Are they in your area? I'm on the West Coast.

Requests for starting new boards

really? why is that?
