1st trip to Memphis - need hound recommendations.

Yup, Rendezvous for BBQ, definitely. They have GREAT lamb riblets!

Memphis and Miss. Delta-- Not to miss??

I'm going to use the BBQ Trump Card and tell you that the RENDEZVOUS is the ultimate best place in Memphis for BBQ. Downtown on Second. Doesn't look like much but that is Memphis 'Cue at its best.

If you like Indian, check out India Palace on Poplar Avenue in Midtown.

Sushi? Sekisui Midtown. Yum.

Memphis trip-need best homestyle/southern, bbq, fried chicken and a nicer restaurant

I second MphsLady and raise up Brother Juniper's for breakfast. It's off of Highland in the University of Memphis area. **Note: Make sure to get there early if you do go, because a big crowd tends to gather!

My opinion on BBQ is that if you don't hit the Rendezvous you may as well be eating slop. ;) OK, not REALLY...but it is my personal fave. When DH and I were dating and I lived over there, we hit that joint whenever we needed a 'cue fix. It's downtown on Second. Doesn't look like much (you actually enter and go down into a lower floor through a modest set of doors) but TRUST ME -- y'all will love it!

Olive Branch, MS

Yeah, it's worth it to cross the border and go into TN.

Decent Italian in Memphis?

"Big John" Grisanti had great stuff at his restaurant on Lamar & Airways (torn down many years ago and a Walgreen's sits there now, I think). My granddad worked at a seafood place and they supplied his restaurant. I had one of his son's stuff at the restaurant he had next to Methodist Central, and it was pretty good. I know it's a chain...but I *heart* Amerigo!!! Ach!

Decent Italian in Memphis?

Yum, Gypsyfish, sounds good! I moved from Mphs. several years ago but still go back to see family and friends. Will have to check out Mayuri's -- we usually hit India Palace on Poplar which is heaven....
