visiting DC
we're actually staying at a friend's place in germantown, md which is about 30 miles away. we don't know the area at all and our friends make it sound as if there's nothing interesting around. we'll be in dc sight seeing and what not because my bf has never been. we'll have a car unless taking public transportation is a better idea.
market lunch at eastern market looks really interesting and a lot of good reviews. 2 amy sounds like a winner .. i hate waiting and since we'll be there on a weekend i'm sure it's an even longer wait time... i remember waiting for grimaldis and lombardi's in nyc .. had them both once and never went back. it might be worth it for comparison.
the idea behind founding farmers seem pretty unique and kind of reminds me of blue hill at stone barns but not as pricey and exquiste. if the food tastes good i think it's worth trying.
i guess i'm looking more for brunch considering my bf isn't a morning person. you guys have given me so many suggestions! thank you
also .. has anyone heard of ray's hell burger?? what is there to do at night? any unique bars/lounges? i think someone mentioned granville moore's.
i'm not too into the asian food scene as i get a lot of those in flushing/chinatown and at home. thanks for the suggestions though!
thank you all for everything!!

What do you guys think of The Founding Farmers, 2 Amy, Cake Love, Marvelous Market, Baked & Wired, and Max's Best?? Do you guys know of any breakfast places? Thanks!
visiting DC
hi i'm a new yorker who will be visiting dc sometime this spring. i was wondering if there are any types of food that stands out in the area. i'm pretty into whole in the wall places and small eateries. i can get a lot of the fancy shmancy dinners in ny and don't really see the point plus it's not that hard to find. any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. thank you.
wine and cheeses
o wow you guys are so knowledgeable and helpful. i really appreciate this. i like the country idea. it would make things so much easier. i'm going to take all you guys have given and do a little bit of research so i wont be so clueless. mmmm i'm so excited. i've never been a big fan a cheese but this sounds so much more fun. thank you very much!!
wine and cheeses
i'm actually pretty clueless when it comes to cheeses. i've only had mozzarella, gouda, swiss, american which i dont like, and provolone. i prefer white over red so that works out well. should i go for a more dry white than sweet? or sweet instead with the three cheeses you recommended? also what's considered a light blue cheese?
sorry with all the questions .. it's just the area i'm currently in doesn't have a cheese shop i can go to. the closest i have is a wegmans and i would like some kind of knowledge when i ask the guy behind the counter.
thank you both for your suggestions!
wine and cheeses
i'm not too educated when it comes to cheese. i would like to be though. i am planning on preparing a cheese and wine platter at home for 2 people. since it's for 2 people i would not like to down more than a bottle of wine. i was wondering if anyone can help give any suggestions to a few cheeses that would work together with just one bottle of wine either red or white. thank you very much.
steak house help
i've read through the boards many times and called up many steakhouses. i need a place to go this coming saturday for lunch. a lot of the places only do dinner or do not serve lunch on the weekends (keens). are there any places that anyone can recommend that would serve lunch on the weekends. i've been to lugers and am looking to try other places. i want a good meal regardless of the price. i've made reservations for porter house and wolfgangs. but i've read a lot of mix reviews for porterhouse and wolfgangs doesn't seem to do the steak for two for lunch. any suggestions?? i would greatly appreciate it. thanksss
Degustation 10-course menu?
i made reservations for next sat and i was wondering should i do a tasting menu or order off the menu. if we both do the 5 course tasting do we get the same five dishes or different ones? i figured ordering off the menu gives us more of a variety even though it might cost more. which is the more popular choice?
visiting washington DC from ny
i'll be visiting washington dc in about 3 weeks for the cherry blossoms. i'll also be visiting the monuments and the smithsonian museums. are there any must haves or locals places that are distinctly only found in the area or within 10 miles of the area? i'm not looking for 5 star restaurants or asian since i'm from ny. i'm not into ethiopian either. any recommendations? thank you.
Red Velvet Cake
i tried their red velvet cake last saturday. it was very good and moist but i didn't really taste the chocolate flavor. their other baked goods were also very good. their cheesecake was so creamy which i like.
Best sandwich I ever invented
i love ham with creamy peanut butter with an egg over easy on top ..i like the contrast of sweet and salty and then i use the bread to soak up all the yolk that drips out mmm YUM
my bf finds it gross though
Shake Shack Limit?
what is the best time to go? i cannot stand waiting in lines especially for food. i know lunch time is the worst. should i go early when it opens at 11AM or real late around 10PM when it closes? or is there a better time to go?
Favorite breakfast spots?
i know the wait for clinton street baking company is really long for brunch. i was wondering how is the wait for dinner around 9 or 10 PM on a saturday? i'm thinking of getting the pancakes for dessert instead of breakfast.
Daisy May's Big Pig Gig
is it possible to order only a half pig for around 6-10 people because it says it only reserves seats for 6 people
breakfast menu anytime of the day
i love breakfast food: pancakes, waffles, eggs, etc and i can eat it during anytime of the day. i was wondering are there any [good] place(s) that would serve their breakfast menu for lunch or dinner? anywhere in manhattan or queens would be great, thanksss!
