Los Abuelos (Mexico version of Fortaleza, excellent Tahona Tequila)
Maracame (usually in Duty Free)
Cava Antigua (plentiful in tourist areas)
Maestro Tequilero (little brother of JC reserva de la familia products)
Afamado
Escondida
Nueva Era
Regional (should be here soon)

Try Mezcal Again

As it states on Del Maguey Crema de Mezcal, "For Women and a few strong men". It takes an experienced palate to appreciate the bold flavors of the authentic and traditional spirit of Mexico, Mezcal.

Perfect Margarita

Forget the cointreau and triple sec!

The Puro Margarita

2 oz. 100% Agave Tequila, Blanco, Reposado or Anejo
1 oz. Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
1 to 2 tsp. Agave Nectar
Ice
Salt - optional

This recipe lets the Tequila dictate the flavor of the Margarita. Amount of Agave Nectar varies on the sweetness / tartness of your limes.

Add fresh, pureed fruit (1 to 2 tsp.) to make a pure flavored margarita.

You are what you drink.

AƱejo Tequila Is a Hoax

Many Anejos are aged in used whiskey and bourbon barrels, and will obviously pick up those same flavors. But there are many out there that don't fall into that same flavor profile, and still have agave flavor. Whether used or virgin barrels, each distillery is trying to differentiate their products, and now you have French Oak, Cognac, and Sherry / Wine barrels (just to name a few) entered into the aging process.

To me that is what makes Tequila so wonderful, between the Blancos, Reposados, Anejos, and Extra Anejos, you can typically please all palates. Those with more experienced palates appreciate the stronger flavors found in blancos, mezcals, and higher proof spirits. Anejos are perfect for reintroducing people back into Tequila.

What's up with Tequila?

There are still quite a few 100% agave tequilas available under $40.00. Sol Azul, Fina Estampa, Hacienda de Oro, etc. Plus the Hacienda de Chihuahua sotol products are tough to beat, and very affordable.

Check http://www.tequila.net for more info, and to see top rated tequila brands and other agave products.
