Got a craving for Ramen

You will probably end your search very sad like me. No good ramen here in Boston even at triple the price of Tokyo!:( It is what it is. I couldn't get enough awesome and cheap ramen, sushi, tempura, and yakiniku over there.

Sukiyabashi Jiro

Obama stopped eating halfway thru the sushi meal. Isn't that insulting to the chef?

Sushiso Masa

I just ate there last week and only drank green tea so couldn't answer your question. Three of us were each served 40+ pieces and the bill came out to $660...great deal for such an exclusive 3hr high caliber meal. One thing I didn't like was there were too many unmemorable cooked pieces.

The thing I about Tokyo is that there are many equally satisfying sushi places you can try for $40 bucks. I ate $50 tempura meal at and then ate $5 tempura bowl at random place in the Red Light district that was just as good. I ate $4 ramen bowls at some random places that were just as good as the 'best' ones in Tokyo that I lined up for.

Chinatown Lobster Deals?

I haven't found any $15.95 deal in Chinatown yet so I've settled with South Garden in Quincy $19.95 twin lobster and
Saigon Seafood in Dorchester $20.95 twin lobsters.

Lobster $4.99....

Costco in Dedham today got a huge setup of live lobsters on ice for $6.99 a pound. I scratched my head and almost ask them why price so high when it really should be $2.99 since this is 'COSTCO'!? No one was buying nor even looking so they must know.

Here's what's slated for food court of Central Sq H-Mart

Paris Baguette definitely easily outshines Tous Les Jours. But then maybe just the Framingham locations suxs. Yi Soon Bakery is even worse than Tous Les Jours...just a Chinese wanna be Korean bakery I think.

Paris Baguette is pretty awesome in Flushing but pretty horrible in SoCal. I wonder which one will show up in Boston?

Imported Indian Mangos?

You tell them to open the box right there for you at checkout. If one is damage, they better replace it for you or you call the manager.

Store the mango in dark warm area, not the fridge.

Imported Indian Mangos?

I just went through 5 boxes from Patel Bros in Waltham. Yes they're very expensive but very good. I can't eat any other mango after eating these!:(

Going to Tokyo alone next week

Robot Restaurant is a fun and interesting show worth visiting once in a lifetime at night in when you have nothing else to do. Foodwise it's no better than elementary school cafeteria food, but it's still food. WARNING...avoid all the Nigerians nearby speaking English to you.

Sushi Dai?

What's the popularity with Sushi Dai? I felt it was very good but not extraordinary to be worth waiting 2.5-4 hours for. I had to experience it for myself since I had all the time in the world to wait, despite Daiwa Sushi nearby with only 15 minutes wait!:( It's in every tour book and tv show and travel channel so I didn't want to miss out. The night before I had sushi at some randowm place on 40th floor of Ebisu Garden Place which was just as good for the same price yet better ambience and zero wait. The night after, I had sushi at Midori Sushi in Shibuya which my family agreed was cheaper and better. Am I the only one not getting it?

Going to Tokyo alone next week

Just return from a week in Tokyo. There's 170,000+ restaurants and you should definitely have a few places set/reserved in mind cause it's overwhelming. However food in Tokyo is very high quality so you'll be fine just letting yourself explore and eat on a whim cause it's all good and it's EVERYWHERE!!!

I would not recommend Sushi Dai; it's very good but not extraordinary to the point of worth waiting 3-4 hours. I've had sushi during the week that was just as good a random places and cheaper places. But of course being the typical tourist, I had to experience Sushi Dai cause it's in every guidebook and travel show.

Late night Shinjuku?

I'll be strolling around Shinjuku after checking into Hilton midnite Saturday. Where is the best late nite eatery with English menu? I'm thinking of strolling the 'yakitori alley' but probably none of them speak English.

I have a reservation here in 2 weeks. How do I know when to stop them from serving cause I'm full, cause I read somewhere they keep going up to 30+ pieces? What if i just want 15 pieces...do I tell them ahead of time?

What Boston-area Chinese restaurants are open on Xmas Day?

Pretty much all the Chinese/Viet restaurants, markets, and liquor stores are opened EVERYDAY, except for Chinese New Year or when MA law forces them to close.

What sets Boston apart as a dining city?

^^ Same here. Boston is pretty good in general. We are the envy of the world in dirt cheap lobsters. We need more cheap food carts and roach coaches. The few trucks here are outlandishly priced in comparison to other cities.
