Diet Soda + Cake Mix = How does this Work?? I've never baked it in cupcake tins...but it should make about 24 cupcakes not 12. So 1.5 pts each? Scratch bakers please ignore the rest of this post... I've made lemon cake w/ diet orange soda- you can frost it w/ ff cool whip... Pretty tasty, very moist. |

best gooey butter cake in st. louis? Gooey Louie's cake is very good. I really prefer the "bites" they sell though. Delicious! |

Lambert's Cafe, repost of Springfield, Mo We moved away 4 years ago but used to go there often. I nearly always chose a lunch special. Sometimes pasta, sometimes sandwiches, sometimes quiche. The menu is quite extensive so I rarely had to get something twice and I dont' recall ever being disappointed in my selection. |

Saturday on the Hill in St Louis Italian restaurants on the Hill in St. Louis aren't often recommended on this board. HOWEVER, if you enjoyed your previous visits to restaurants on the Hill, then here are some other suggestions. Favazza's is pretty good. I like the crispy artichoke appetizer they offer. http://www.favazzas.com/ You can make online reservations for Favazza's. |

St Louis near Powell Hall/Fox Theater It was very good. I wouldn't have even mentioned it otherwise :o) |

St Louis near Powell Hall/Fox Theater We had dinner at the Scottish Arms last year before a concert at the Fox. I'm fairly sure there were plenty of selections in that price range. |

Crown opens too late for breakfast. It's incredibly crowded right now due to Easter...it'll slow down a bit next week. |

Women's Final 4 - Looking for 4 days of great food in St Louis Uncle Bill's is on S. Kingshighwy, isn't it? I don't recall a location on Grand.... anyway, I'd skip it unless you are starving at 3am and don't want Jack in the Box tacos. ;o) |

Edmonds or OT Hodges chili (chile)- St. louis Edmunds has been at the grocery store for ages. I started buying it at least 15 years ago. It's thick so you may want to add about 1-2 cups of water when you reheat it- Grab some tamales while you are at it and top w/ cheese and onion! Your OOP cost will be about $10 for 8 chili tamales vs $6 for 1 at Crown Candy (they use edmund's chili and tamales there too) |

STL...really good fried chicken I'm not kidding when I say Schnucks. It's good, crispy, juicy and terrific cold the next day. But I think you are looking for dining out? We've never been disappointed with Hodak's on Gravois but I've seen some bad reviews in the past. I've heard more consistently good reviews at Sweetie Pie's but I've not made it there yet. |

Springfield, MO - Good Restaurants - NO Springfield Cashew Arris' Pizza is a chain. They have locations in Jeff City and at the Lake of the Ozarks for sure....maybe a couple other locations. But it's really good, imo. |

Springfield, MO - Good Restaurants - NO Springfield Cashew That's got to be a culture shock... Try Nearly Famous Deli. It's good. Nice pastas, sandwiches and great quiche. I liked Arris' Pizza when I lived there. It's sort of a little regional chain. They had a greek pizza that was tasty and a nice little wine bar next door/connected, not sure if that's still the case there. |

Let's see if I can take your questions in order :o) You can still find pretzels on street corners, mostly in south St. Louis. You are more likely to find them sold outside churches on Sunday mornings though. We just run to Gus' Pretzels when we want them. Was Irv's by the Botanical Gardens? If so, it's gone as far as I know...but Courtesy Diner has a "new" location on Hampton near 40. Glad to hear from someone who loves the St. Louis specialties! |

STL- Late night eats near the Pageant Theater?? Thanks. Last night the folks that own the Chinese Noodle Cafe said that although the chef walks out the door at 9:30 or 10:30 depending on the night of the week... "Mama" could whip something up for them so it was hot later than that. I thought that was very kind of the owner. The mother said she'd be happy to do that. So note to others.... though the Chinese Noodle Cafe closes at 10:30 on Fri/Sat, it sounds like you have to order your food 30 minutes earlier because the chef leaves immediately at closing time! |

STL- Late night eats near the Pageant Theater?? I had a long reply but have chosen to just respond with: Never mind. Taco Bell is open all the time. Jimmy Johns and Qdoba both serve food past midnight, a few other places serve up until midnight on Fri/Sat.... |

STL- Late night eats near the Pageant Theater?? I can answer that many of the places stop serving food at about 10. That's not late night, in this case. They were turned down for take out at least 2 places that they walked into so far. They get about 30 minutes to eat and they have to eat in shifts- they don't have time to walk 3 blocks. I already LOOKED on-line. Many places either don't have websites or the websites don't have menus listed. Honestly, if you don't have anything to contribute to a thread....just don't. Soooo, if anyone knows of any restaurants on the Delmar loop that serve food LATE (midnight), that would do take out and/or delivery....please let me know. |

STL- Late night eats near the Pageant Theater?? Thanks. He didn't have time before work tonight to stop by but he plans to leave a little early and run in there tomorrow night. Can't really be seen walking into a bar while on the clock, can he? |

STL- Late night eats near the Pageant Theater?? Not really much help.... he needs really needs delivery to a job site.... but thanks - he couldn't see the dozens of restaurants in a couple block. In their "free" time of the drive to and from 12 hour shifts, they are unable to grab take out menus.....LOL |

STL- Late night eats near the Pageant Theater?? My husband is working a project near the Pageant Theater from 6pm-6am 7 nights a week for while. They can't leave the job site for long but one guy can run out for take-out. These guys are eating their lunch around midnight but could go a little earlier if necessary. Any ideas of places in that general area that would either deliver to the job site or allow a call in or pick up?? |

Springfield to KC to STL to Chicago - roadtrip recs please ! Oh, stop at the first Walgreens or CVS you see and pick up some OFF. The mosquitos are quite bad in the St. Louis area due to the receding flood waters. And we don't eat outside in August in St. Louis- if you choose to, you'll have very little problem getting a table! |

Looking for lunch between St. Louis and Springfield We tend to stop at Wendy's in Rolla since they've closed most of them here in St. Louis. I saw an interesting place @ the Fort Leonard Wood exit called the Mediterranean Grill. I can't speak for the food, but it looked like someplace we'll try when we have time. |

Springfield to KC to STL to Chicago - roadtrip recs please ! There's the Gateway Grizzlies outside of St. Louis. They are playing on Aug 3rd at 6:05. You can get lawn seats for $5 each. I think they sell deep fried sliders and they used to have a bacon cheeseburger sandwiched between 2 Krispy Kreme donuts. Apparently, it's an experience! |
