Do-Nuts in Pittsburgh?

There is a donut shop on Braddock Avenue as you first enter Braddock (below the Rankin Bridge). Don't remember the name, but it is the first store on the right. Great donuts, but get there early as they sell out by about 9 or 9:30.

Pittsburgh Cuban?

Occasionally, Point Brugge has a Cubano for lunch, and it is great. But I don't know how frequently.
Good luck

Pancakes at Pamela's in Pittsburgh

Don't have a recipe, but I have seen the pancakes made on the grill. They are literally floated on liquid shortening. Delicious, buttery, but be aware...

Wedding caterer in Pittsburgh?

Jill,
I am not sure it is within your budget, but Bob Sendall of All in Good Taste Catering is excellent. He also rents out his home, a former neighborhood grocery store for events, and it is beautiful.
Best of luck

restaurants in/around Marbella?

We are spending a week in this area. We have a car, and will be visiting the white towns, etc. Any suggestions appreciated, especially near the town. Also, any good markets?
Thanks

Pittsburgh Dining Experiences?

Try Vivo in Bellevue. Sam DiBattista is a creative chef, and I would bet if you asked him for something unconventional, he'd be thrilled to oblige you.

Malaga and the white towns

We will be spending a week in Malaga, going on day trips. Any suggestions for the town itself or the area surronding?
Thanks

Dim-Sum Pittsburgh or Cleveland

While not the greatest, the dim sum at Dumpling House in Squirrel Hill is good, but only available on weekends.

Eating in JFK airport

Thanks, everyone. I had expected it to be dismal, and I was right. Maybe I can get out to Howard Beach. It's always a problem for a chowhound: good meal, or make the flight...

hartwood restaurant

Collision is correct, as I find the Hartwood to be a trainwreck.

Can I survive a move form Manhattan to Pittsburgh?

Olivertwist had some good suggestions, though he(she) likes the Big Burrito Group (Eleven, Casbah, Kaya, Soba) more than I do. Tessaro's has great burgers. I would add THE POINT in Point Breeze for perfect Belgian Mussels and frites, Thai Gourmet in Bloomfield for Thai, Rose Tea Room is Squirrel Hill for Taiwan/Chinese.
I also highly recommend spending a morning in the strip district near downtown. Here the streets are lined with food stores, including Oriental, Italian, Middle Eastern, etc. Not to be missed is the coffee at La Prima Espresso, or the incredible Vietnamese Hoagie sold outside the My Ngoc Vietnamese restaurant on Penn near 16th St. (but do not eat inside.
I think you'll find the city to be friendly and embracing, though a bit provincial relative to NYC. BTW, the housing here is great and CHEAP!
Welcome.
