Best Sushi and Chicken Teriyaki in Boca?
Yes I searched but didn't get an answer - what say you 'hounds?
Airline Meals
Make sure you take your own food - not smelly please!!! If they say they have food for sale it means they have "some" and will often run out. It is usually junk anyway.
Yardhouse - Coming to Mizner, Boca Raton - July 2012
Just saw an announcement in the paper yesterday that they would definitely be coming in. Looking forward to seeing Mizner revitalized although they shot themselves in the foot putting meters in but with the new theater, etc. all should be good.
Max's Harvest - Start Small?
Very good dinner. They didn't have octopus (out of season - who knew? lol!) so ended up with the Burrata and a half order of the diver scallops. Am not a huge fan of risotto but there was not a kernel left in the bowl. Will return!
Max's Harvest - Start Small?
I've read the reviews and we're going tonight. Are the start small plates big enough for a meal? Would I need two? That is assuming no one is sharing with me? Thanks, Linda
The Spaniard in Boca
We have been twice - both times had the paella. The first time we both loved it and the second I thought it was okay but DH loved it so there ya go! We also really liked the sangria. Hope it survives as it was good.
When the poster really hates where you referred them.. [moved from General Topics]
I just recommended this site to a poster on another board and added the caveat "of course opinions on food are subjective". All in all I have been lucky in Chowhound recs keeping in mind, of course, what they ordered.
Teaching chow pups moderation
Love all the answers! Just wanted to add that you could also check out some of the very good websites with lower calorie meals. I make these as DH and I must watch our intake but our 15 yr. old is extremely active and could get away with eating anything. He likes the food I make from Skinnytaste, for example, and I always state that this serves x amount of people. This way he knows if he is getting a double portion or just a single. I noticed that he does not overeat as I always start them with a salad. (I actually state portion size for DH but jr. chowhound listens lol!)
Do you have family/friends who don't appreciate good home cooking?
I don't want to be a pollyana here but.....have you made them chocolate chip cookies? My DH looooves homemade chocolate chip cookies and might inadvertently get excited seeing cookies and think they were cc's. NOT packaged however. Sorry they are so thoughtless.
Do you remember the first steak you had?
As RealMen stated - very young and hated it cause it was broiled "to the point of dessication"!!! When I was 16 my late SIL cooked steak and actually made it med. rare WOW what a difference - now I love it but "leaping and mooing".
Beverage Calories
I drink black decaf coffee in the a.m. and unsweetened mix of decaf green tea and African Nectar (a rooibus) during the day, but I definitely have wine with dinner. I drink water during the day as well - have a 24 oz. bottle in front of me now.
Hard Rock Casino Dining
We will make a reservation wherever we go. May try Council Oaks or Martarano's. Don't get to go to the casino much so was thinking of making a "night" of it.
Hard Rock Casino Dining
Tried to do a search but couldn't find anything. Is there a good restaurant in the Hard Rock? We see Martarano's, etc. but have no idea. We're going down there for a concert. Should we just do the buffet in the club or?....... TIA
The Spaniard Tapas Bar & Cafe in Boca Raton?
Went there last night - will definitely go back. Started out with the tapas duo of chorizo, it was okay and I'll try something different next time. Also did the tapas Shrimp Ajillo - was good but came out boiling which takes the flavor away so it didn't have much garlic. Again will try something new. Why will we go back? The paella was wonderful!!! We got the Valenciana with lobster and the special rice and ate every bite!!!! We also ordered the sangria and it was also great - not sweet like alot of places make it and we didn't really need the extra shot of brandy we ordered (we did use it on the first pitcher which is probably why we ordered a second lol!!!!). DH took one taste of his paella and declared that he would definitely go back soon!
Only 3 Dinners in St. Martin...What Are Your Favorite Picks?
Which restaurant on Pinel? We will be there for a day over the Christmas holidays and want to do something different. Do you mean Karibuna or Yellow Beach?
Near Bank Atlantic Center?
Bash Cafe looks really interesting - we have a diverse group and it seems like there would be something for everyone. We have one person who doesn't really like Chinese/sushi, etc. Someone suggested Runyon's which is north but we are coming from that area. Still think Bash looks good - will speak to DH. I would like to try Hong Kong and Marumi myself when we are down at Saveology Ice Rink.
Near Bank Atlantic Center?
Want to go to dinner before a concert but searched and the latest recs were from last year. We would like a steakhouse or something similar. Thx
Culinary adventures in St. Lucia
Might help if you said where on St. Lucia. It is not an easy island to navigate in many cases. Where will you be?
Large party with kids in Boca or near by?
Renzo's Cafe on Federal Highway is casual, good and kid friendly.
Hungry Hockey Team for Inexpensive in Reston and Ashburn
We are coming up to do a tournament and our rinks are in Ashburn, Va. and Reston, Va. We are playing in the evening so figure to go to the rink area (we at hotel near Dulles) and eat. Then we'd go to the rink and watch others until game time. The boys are 15 and 16. We want something that the parents would enjoy with a little wine, beer, etc. not just Chipotleish places. Thanks, Linda
Virgin Gorda
We were at Saba Rock when Bert owned it - true story, a friend of ours was bare boating and anchored at the Bitter End. He dinghied up to this place, walked in and shouted "where's the bar" - it was Bert's home and it was NOT open as a bar/restaurant at that point. He offered our friend a drink and said that he really should think about opening up a bar.......the rest is history.
Virgin Gorda
One of the most romantic evenings I remember is dancing under the moon (wasn't live music) at Biras Creek after a wonderful meal. Hope it's still the same.
Portion control at a dinner party
My parents were WASPS. That said, they were also raised in farm families. My Mother helped cook for the "hired help" and they could eat! Anyway, my Father always insisted on a large meat dish, two vegetables, potatoes and a salad at every dinner. If I came home with a friend, no problem always plenty to eat. Consequently, I always have more than enough no matter the occasion.
Years ago I was invited to T-giving dinner at a Home Ec teachers home. She made enough for everyone to have a "small" portion. DH was not happy but was glad that we were on the other end of the table as the food was passed. We assumed there was more in the kitchen but no...... At the time we were very poor students so we went home and had eggs and toast.
Would it bother you if a restaurant surrepitiously recorded your dining experience?
You have got to be kidding - NO! If they told me ahead I'd leave.
Restaurant reservations - proper way to be seated
You should have replied that you had a resevation and didn't NEED to wait in line. What idiots!
