J's at Nashoba Valley Winery-outstanding brunch!

These posts are old. I had Mother's Day brunch there at $35 a person and it was bad. The food was of low quality and cold, there wasn't much variety, and the coffee was awful. No doubt they are using the money for their farm and cut corners. I complained via email and didn't get a response from the owner until I threatened electronic complaints.

My Aplogies, but I Need to Vent About America's Test Kitchen

I guess I can understand the marketing annoyances, but I have to say I have learned A LOT from CI over the years...I only subscribe to the web site and I am always using it...I like the idea they promote of perfect recipes...whether it is true, or not, is different, but I still use them quite a bit.

For those who love it, can someone explain the appeal of the McRib?

Woah, man, you are working too hard to make something even stomachable.

I *always* ask to wait for fresh fries...they only take 3 minutes and it's so much more tasty

Sally's Apizza is obviously better than Pepe's and Modern

Just because you say you think Modern is better doesn't mean it is true. Sally's is clearly superior for the reasons I gave. If someone is trying to decide which one to have, Sally's is the winner for the best basic pizza.

Sally's Apizza is obviously better than Pepe's and Modern

It's not honesty, it's accurate...Sally's far outweighed the other mozzarella pies, just based on crust solo. Add in a fresh herbed tomato sauce and full-flavored cheese (and a lower price to boot) and you can say it is clear.

The Red Arrow Diner is expanding!

I love how they say they have low prices...I don't consider $9 omelets in a diner to be a low price.

Sally's Apizza is obviously better than Pepe's and Modern

A Ford F-150 is a truck and a Mercedes S-Class is a coupe (I think)...I was working with a mozzarella pizza and a mozzarella pizza.

Sally's Apizza is obviously better than Pepe's and Modern

I am not talking of a white clam pie pizza, which is clearly unique. I am taking the basic concept of pizza as being crust, sauce, and cheese, and judging these establishments based on that product. If these places tout themselves as being so amazing, they should make a basic pizza as well as any. And a basic pizza of crust, sauce, and cheese is indicated by Sally's being far advanced to Pepe's and Modern.

Sally's Apizza is obviously better than Pepe's and Modern

Still, is not a basic cheese pizza a good indicator of the overall value of the pizza? Is not (most) every pizza composed of crust, cheese and sauce? Can the variation in toppings really mandate that one goes one place instead of the other? If a place can make a quality basic pizza, it doesn't seem that the toppings should overcome the core problems. Sally's core basic pizza is obviously better, and I don't see how the toppings can substantially alter that.

Funniest Thing a Server Said to You

Me to Burger King drive-thru employee: do you believe it's only 12 degrees outside?
Her: Oh, that's why it's so cold.

Sally's Apizza is obviously better than Pepe's and Modern

I should say that I had just mozzarella

When is Burger King going to realize that their fries SUCK?

I had the new ones yesterday...not really sure what is that different about them...they were still kind of heavy...no one will be able to overcome McDonald's reign

Modern Apizza...Seriously? That's the best you can do?

i agree with Modern being salty, too cheesy, and with a pallid crust

Sally's Apizza is obviously better than Pepe's and Modern

I suppose I should elucidate that this is in New Haven, CT

Sally's Apizza is obviously better than Pepe's and Modern

I hit all three and it is obvious:

Sally's: Clear char, chewy-crisp crust, plenty of flavor,
Pepe's: Bland, no real spices, weak crust
Modern: Too salty, not only mozz used for the cheese, more cheese than sauce, weak crust

Sally's was the only one to have a real crisp crust

French gross.

Boston's best burger?

I have tried the Radius burger and it is excellent. I thought The Bristol Burger was nothing special at all and the $21 price tag is ridiculous. The fries were also nowhere near as good as at Radius.

Manchester, NH

I tried the cheesesteak at Candia Rd. Convenience Store and it was awful...the bread was literally raw and the meat wasn't that awesome...$8.99...rip off.

Radius Burger/Lounge Review

I didn't perceive any cheese on mine, does it separate so much that it melds with the horseradish "sauce" (which to me simply came across as a lot of mayo)?

Charleston, SC, burger assessments

Of all the burgers I had in Charleston, I would say Johnny's and Carolina's were the most impressive.

Radius Burger/Lounge Review

I had the Radius burger yesterday. It was a very hefty burger...i would guess it is a half pound *after* cooking. The bun was quite airy, until one pressed it, then it became chewy and held onto the burger well. The meat was dense, but tender, quite juicy, extremely well-seasoned, and with a char flavor that was perfect. I found the horseradish sauce like mayo and I think it overshadowed the meat. Topped with lightly fried onion pieces that were perfect taste of fried onions, delicate. They claim there was cheddar cheese on it, but I didn't taste it...perhaps overshadowed by the horseradish sauce. No other toppings but it was delicious. The side of fries were crisp and tender, no grease, hot. It was a very impressive burger if for the size and consistency than anything. $19? Not completely worth it. But still impressive.

Kowloon-Awful!

I love how they still tout how Jerry Seinfeld performed there...20 years ago!

Kowloon-Awful!

Actually, I did...you may have a point, but I thought it wasn't bad...I would have another try of it...maybe

Decadent Chocolate Saturdays at the Langham Hotel, Boston: What's your feedback?

It's interesting that the quality seems suspect, as, call me quick-ro-judge, just looking at the web site and the way the bar is presented, it didn't really seem like it would be high on quality. It sounds like a gimmick...$40, there's no way you could get good value out of that and who could really eat much of that without being sick? It sounds like $40 to feel sick is not a very good time...I'm sure one could get better bang for the buck somewhere else.

Kowloon-Awful!

I was there a few years ago for the first time and had the luncheon special of lobster sauce and a few mai tai's and I thought it wasn't bad...

Is Speed's open today (any confirmations)??

I still disagree...a sandwich can be a more filling and vaired food item compared to a hot dog, and you usually get chips or fries with it...even if it is a good hot dog, it is still a hot dog...$8 is just too expensive...$6 would be a good price. I won't be getting it again, but if it was $6 dollars I would have a lot of them. Does anyone know what brand of hot dog that is?

Is Speed's open today (any confirmations)??

speed's was closed for "renovations" according to his site, but was open yesterday. I had my first speed dog (chile and mustard) and while it was delicious, $8 is too much for a hot dog.

pork belly in nh?

Does anyone know where I can get pork belly in NH...want to make some bacon.

What would make an amazing duck dinner?
