Chinese anyone?
I'm staying near 60th & Madison and I'm looking for a nice Chinsese restayrant for 7 people.
Doesn't have to be fancy, and not really expensive... less than $20 per person.
Will travel by taxi if needed. I heard not to go to Chinatown for Chinsese. Is that true?
Please advise on any yummy restaurants. Thanks

Best hole-in-the-wall (Honolulu)
I just got back from Oahu and went to the Side Street Inn. I heard that's where the chefs from area restaurants go to eat after hours. The food was great. It was in the middle of an industrial area and had a bar atmosphere. It's a place I'll go back again.
Favorite family restaurants on the Big Island of Hawaii
My family and I just got back from Kona. Big Island Grill was our favorite spot. They have ono french toast and panckaes for breakfast. The loco moco was delicious too.
The friend chicken and katsu salad was great. There's so much to choose from. There is a separate breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu. Saimin is served only for lunch and dinner. That was a bummer for my son who loves saimin and couldn't get it at breakfast. They're closed on Sunday.
Winter Garden Theater- any restaurant suggestions?
I'll be going to NY in a few days and on Friday, my friend got tickets to Mamma Mia. Any suggestions on where to eat near the theater? We like American, Italian. Don't care for Indian or Thai.
Thanks.

Please critique our planned choices on Big Island
I go to Kona every summer. For cheap food and a casual dining experience, Big Island grill is great. For breakfast, lunch, or dinner... it's cheap and fast. I see you have a higher end of selections and that's great. The Kona Coast Luau is fun, too. Have fun.
My Lahaina, Maui Report
I just got back from my trip to Maui and found ALOHA MIXED PLATE. The food there was so ono. It's located on Front Street, next to the Old Lahaina Luau. The kitchen serves both the restaurant and luau. The kalua pig was so tnder adn tasty. The restaurant is right on the beach. You sit outside and are served on paper plates and forks, so local style. Your million dollar view meets cheap local food. The prices are afordable. It was great for our son cause some of the plate lunches came in 3 sizes, mini, regular, and large. Since he's four, we'd order the mini plate lunch for him. The brown gravy was the best I've ever had. Try dipping them with your french fries. One sandwich that was a favorite of mine was the grilled cheese kalua pig sandwich with brown gravy. The down side was the slow service, but ti really didn't matter cause we were sitting on the beachside. The view kept our attentions and it was okay to have slow service.
Kona & Honolulu Recs?
I just came back from Hawaii. On Kona side, go to Big Island Grill. They have great food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We ate there everyday when we were there. The pancakes are "ono" (delicious), pork roast, sandwiches, etc. The flourless chocolate cake is also gret for dessert. You can get your meals with rice, mashed potatoes, and mac salad. It's not a fancy chain; family owned and runned. It's closed on Sundays, but you can go to the Kona Bowling Alley and try Chubby's. It's the same owners and has great food.
As for Honolulu/Waikiki side, Likelike Drive In is an old favorite. It's old, but still served great local food. Have fun and ALOHA.
