Just Bowls - Marketplace Matawan NJ

Went to Just Bowls tonight for dinner, and it was great! The food was so fresh and healthy. We got a chance to talk to the owner, and he said they make all their sauces and dressings homemade. You can really tell, as everything is so flavorful. You have to try the black bean dumplings- so good!
They also make their own lemonades and iced teas which were really yummy. I had the lemon chicken stirfry which was full of fresh veggies (not frozen!) and some brown rice. They certainly don't skimp on the portion sizes.

Craving Cupcakes in Monmouth County

I went to Baker Boys yesterday and had a very mixed experience.
German Chocolate Cupcake- to die for! Unfortunately that's the one the husband picked out for himself.
I had the Red Velvet with Marscapone Icing. The icing was hard, the cake was hard, and the icing was WAY too sweet.

Ray's Real Pizza, Hazlet

Never been there, but thanks for the warning.

Angela's really? The only time we ever ordered from there, the crust was black/burned & inedible.

Romeo's is good, as is Palumbo's just down the street in Holmdel.

bagels that aren't enormous?

I'm not trying to be snarky, but why don't you get the bagels split & then cut in half? Most places will do that for you when they put a platter together. I think it's going to be hard to find any quality mini-bagels.

Best Coffee Houses/Bars in NJ?

I'm a big fan of Espresso Joe's on Front St in Keyport. I'm not sure what area you were looking for, but I've always enjoyed this place.

Pizza Loolu Rte 35 Hazlet, NJ (Buffet)

Yes, LOVE the pizza buffet idea. We've been itching for a Cici's to come into the area, but the pizza at Loolus is way better.

Pizza Loolu Rte 35 Hazlet, NJ (Buffet)

Tried out the new pizza shop that replaced the old Triolgy pizza place on Rte 35 in Hazlet, NJ.

Pizza Loolu is a buffet! For $5.99 you get all you can eat salad, pizza, pasta & dessert.

Salad bar was a nice selection of spring mix, and various veggie toppings.
Couple different types of pasta with a very tasty homemade red sauce.
About a dozen kinds of thin crust pizza- loved everything we tried: white, buffalo chicken, eggplant/whole wheat, pepperoni, sausage. The crust was nice & thin and crispy.
Dessert was rice krispie treats, brownies (yum!), jello and muffins.

I highly recommend this place. Ingredients were fresh & tasty, and you can't beat the price. The staff was very accommodating & friendly.

They also have a take-out/non-buffet menu including wings and paninis.

Jim's Burger Haven, is it really all that?

Stopped at Jim's today for a Superburger & some fries. It was great! Like a Whopper but much much better.
Tried to take it down to the new Keyport bulkhead to enjoy the niceish weather today. With all the money they spent, they didn't bother to install any benches...so I ate in the car.

I will definitey go back to Jim's soon.

Mojitos / Portuguese BBQ - Cliffwood Beach

I wrote one of the positive reviews on the other thread, and I will maintain my positive opinion of this place. If you're looking for high-class Mexican cuisine, don't go to Mojito's. But if you're looking for good quality fast food, you'll find it there. I had the best burrito I've ever had for less than $5 and I had enough food left over for a 2nd meal.
My husband has been back several times with his friends for the buffet. I would like to see this restaurant make it, since we are desperate for non-chain fast food in Cliffwood Beach!
On the other hand, hubby ate at the Portuguese BBQ and said it was disgusting. Go figure!

Where to Eat in Monmouth County, NJ

I second the rave for Mojito's. My husband and I went a few weeks ago on opening day and had a delicious meal. He had the buffet, and I had a burrito with ground beef that was around $5 and was large enough for two meals. I usually don't order ground beef at Mexican restaurants, but theirs is delish.
Just south of Tom's on the southbound side of 35....one light after the 7-11.

Horizons Vegan Restaurant

What is the dress code at Horizons? I'm taking my younger, vegan brother out for his birthday and the kid doesn't own anything other than jeans and t-shirts.
I've heard it's delicious & would like to treat him to a nice meal. He's a broke college student and would never be able to go on his own.
I think the downstairs might be an option if dresscode is going to be a problem. I'll call the restaurant tomorrow to ask, but I just don't want him to feel out of place.
