Best place to eat before a Flames game?

UNA is walkable, or a pizza at Manie's (one of the best pizzas in the city) or a pizza at the Hop n Brew...

Looking for a great veggie burger downtown calgary

Sonoma Cafe has tons of amazing vegetarian options, can't remember if they have a burger but it would be a good lunch.

Office Beverage Delivery in Calgary?

I know this isn't typical Chowhound subject matter... but it is food and beverage related.

Our office needs a service that will deliver beverages monthly. E.g. Pop, Juice, Energy Drinks, Coffee, Tea.

Can anyone make any recommendation at all?

We've tried contacting beverage bottlers like Coke and Pepsi and cannot even get a call back.

3 nights in Calgary - where to eat

Food is pretty good at Seven, not cheap, kind of snobby but you might like that if you're feeling fancy :)

Great restaurants on International Ave (17 Ave SE) in Calgary?

Desert Pita is one of the best places for donairs in Calgary... they're really good.

Baba Ka Dhaba has a reputation for great authentic food, but its dirty looking and there are rumors of previous trouble with health inspections. I can confirm that the food is delicious though.

I didn't like El Bombazo.

Mekong is another good Vietnamese place, not for Pho so much although they do have a really spicy Sate that says "Not For Children!" on the menu. Try the #50 Curry Chicken.

4 Seas has a certain charm, if you want greasy Chinese food in a greasy atmosphere :)

Pho Dau Bo is the best Pho in the city.

Fassil's is okay but they seem to have strange hours, sometimes you can go there at noon for lunch and they 're not open.

Best Cocktails and Dinner in Calgary?

Ming has great drinks - for food, try the yam/sweet potato fries with their banana ketchup. Kinda famous.

But if you want to take it up a notch, try SEVEN on 8th ave. Wow, good food, good drinks, nice place. Expensive but for business or a date it will impress.

Sushi in the YYC

Some tricks to Calgary Sushi that I've found:

- Hiro downtown is still good; go at Lunch, sit at the bar. Order sushi and not any special or plate. When I was there, the guy behind the bar was this very old guy who was super good and friendly too, and the ingredients and proportions were perfect.

- Towa is good if you skip the Maki and order strictly Nigiri sushi. The rolls are just too gimmicky or north-americanized. Plus too much rice, etc.

Good authentic Thai food?

Thai Sa On is way way better than Ruan Thai.

For best results, talk to the owner, he's a pleasant older gentleman, he can help you put together an order that will astound you, if you're not sure what to order for a more authentic meal. The menu is so large that maybe its easy to pick "safe" dishes and then feel like you didn't get an authentic experience.

IMO Thai Sa On gets my vote for best restaurant in town in ANY category.

Is Winnipeg really a Wasteland? (moved from Canada board)

Winnipeg has great food! I used to live there and as someone said it doesn't have the firehose of money opening up new and trendy places but the established places or the artsy small independent places are amazing, people put a lot of care into small things there and food is one of them. I think that culturally Winnipeg is still ahead of a lot of bigger cities and there is a lot of historical and even French influence in Winnipeg compared to anywhere else west of Toronto.

BEST Pho Satay In Calgary?

Pho Dau Bo beats Pho Que Hoang anyday! Pho Kim is good too but maybe Pho Dau Bo really is the best in town.

BEST Pho Satay In Calgary?

Went for Beef Pho Satay soup at a little place on 12th ave and Center St. NE, second best I have had in Calgary. It was a creamier type than most places serve, with coconut milk in the broth I think.

First best is Pho Dau Bo in Forrest Lawn still. Its hot but not too hot to eat, and the broth is incredibly rich and complex. Me-Kong in Forrest Lawn is good too.

Anyone have some really stand-out pho satay?
