No reservations - Philly BYOB recommendation for Saturday?

I love the people and the vibe at Mr. Martino's, but I have to say the food is "okay" at best. Not a very imaginative menu. Worse, though there's only one chef, the execution is hit or miss. Last time I went, my ravioli was quite undercooked and my companion's roast chicken was a greasy mess. Mr. M's is off our list now for good now, I'm afraid.

Quiet Cafe for Business meeting?

Great ideas. Plus, there are parking garages nearby for my client.

You rule.

Quiet Cafe for Business meeting?

Anyone know of a quiet cafe where I can meet with a business client for an hour plus without getting booted? Nothing too fancy - just good coffee and sandwiches or something. Starbucks, etc. all get too loud....

Thanks in advance for your help!

Best falafel in Philly?

Excellent suggestions. Thanks so much!

Best falafel in Philly?

What say you, Chowhoundies?

Bagels near 13th and Walnut

Um, sorry to be a NY snob, but I moved here from Brooklyn, and as far as I can tell, there are no good bagels in Philly.

Hoping someone will prove me wrong. But seriously, everything here that's marketed as a bagel is pretty much donut-shaped bread. Not eggy, not boiled, not bagels.

Not-too-pricey Philly caterer?

My husband and I are throwing a casual open-house ind of baby shower in October, and I'd intended to cook a buffet spread myself, but I'm realizing that my pregnancy will have me too tired by the time the shower date rolls around. Any recs for caterers? Nothing fancy, just good appetizer-y stuff for a big crowd...

Need good food, good beer, and the NFL Ticket

The brews at Fox and Hound are great, but the food is abysmal. Call For Pete's Sake (Front Street, Penn's Landing) and see if they have the ticket. Great food, great beers, great atmosphere.

Where is Baccio exactly?

I tried Bitar a week or so ago and was very disappointed, Though the babaganoush (sp?) was outstanding (great body, nice and smokey taste), the pita was not freshly made and the tabouleh was soupy and so old that all of the veggies had lost their crunch. The worst: was the falafel, which had no discernable flavors and a texture like sawdust inside.

I'll take the drive down to Walnut Street and enjoy in the fresh ingredients of Sahara Grill next time...

Deep Freeze

Excellent suggestions! I'd love the white bean & ham recipe when you get a chance...

Deep Freeze

Okay, So I'm pregnant and due due in December and am gathering recipes for good meals to freeze this fall so that once I deliver, I've got good food on hand quickly. Baby/pregnancy sites are suggesting a variety of casseroles that involve ingredients like saltines, canned soup and the like. [SHUDDER.]

Dear Chowhoundies, do you have suggestions for recipes that freeze well?
