Italian - just like Mamma used to make

Do NOT go to Buca di Beppo. Its a chain and the food is mediocre at best.
Try Bela Notte on Grand, near Noble, or La Scarola at Grand and Halsted.

over ripe bananas

Does anyone freeze over ripe bananas? Sometimes I only have one, but need three for a banana bread recipe. Do you freeze them with or without the skin on??

Uses for canned artichokes

do you drain the chokes? and then how do you serve it? room temp? with crackers? sounds yummmy

cold artichoke dip??

well, it defintely has either a cream cheese, mayo or sour cream base and could very well have some parm cheese in it. the key, though, is that I want it as a cold dip....

cold artichoke dip??

Looking to emulate a Portland Zupans Market dip with artichokes and jalapenos. Not interested in the hot artichoke /parm/mayo version. Any ideas??

cold artichoke dip/spread

Hi all
Looking to emulate Portland's Zupan's Market COLD artichoke dip/spread. Its found in the prepared food section, and has a jalapeno/parmesan feel to it. Sooo great with pita chips or a baguette. Any ideas?? Thanks!

Show some mercy to this Chicago visitor

I second the rec to get dinner at Janes on Cortland before the theatre. They have a great burger, too!

coffee

I bought a few bags of whole bean coffee in costa rica last week and was wondering where they will grind it for me. I dont drink coffee, so I dont want to buy a grinder but wanted to give them as gifts already ground. Any thoughts??

restaurant - good for groups?

I would recommend Carnivale on Fulton near the expressway. Its very lively, a bit trendy and has a great open dining area. Great food and yummy mojitos, and the cost would be around 60 per person...

Best Chicago BYOB (Casual)

My favorite BYOB with great food is Think Cafe on Western just north of Armitage. It has great pasta, seafood and salads. Its a bit nicer than "casual" and has a cute little patio out front. I also second Tango Sur, its my husband's favorite restaurant in the city...

Good BYOB Thai Place?

I am a huge fan of Thai Lagoon just east of Western on North Avenue. Its a tiny place, but has great, cheap Thai food!

Telluride, CO, must eats for young honeymooners

Hi all
I am traveling from Chicago to Telluride on my honeymoon in two weeks and since there are few recent posts, I was hoping I could get some updated recs for dinners. We are on a tight budget and are well aware that Telluride is not cheap. Any recs for a romantic dinner (this one can be on the pricey side) and other fun spots with good fresh food would be appreciated! Also, we only have three days! Thanks!!
