Tuesday Night Dinner in Avila Beach
Custom House
Not Very good at all
Just average
shame really, such a beautiful setting, solid menu, but the food really does not measure up to the descriptions
service was great, however
Tuesday Night Dinner in Avila Beach
Going to be in Avila Beach just tomorrow night for dinner.
Suggestions?
If not Avila Beach, where near by to eat a good, healthy, affordable meal?
Pismo maybe?
Thanks!
Los Agaves (Santa Barbara)
I love, love, love Los Agaves. Every time we have eaten there, the meals have been fantastic. Also, I find it to be reasonably priced for what they are serving. My husband had the grilled beef short ribs last time we were there................so freakin good

Breakfast or lunch at the Parkside Cafe in Stinson Beach. Also love The Pine Cone Inn. Must get baked goods from Bovine bakery in Point Reyes Station
La Super Rica vs. Taco Temple... who wins?
If we are talking Milpas street, well, Los Agaves rocks.
I did not have a great experience at El Bajio. Maybe it was just a one time thing, but none of us felt too great after eating there.
I love La Super Rica. I could not possibly pick a favorite between La Super Rica and Los Agaves because they are very different in style.
Just like Taco Temple and Super Rica are different
Sushi from Ojai to the Central Coast
Thanks toodie jane
We will make it up there one of these days
Which Places do you Frequent because the Owners Appreicate your Patronage
Very much agree with your Bety's assessment. It is Bety who is both cooking and in the front of the house. She is Luis's mother.
Oh now I so want Bety's. I miss it.
Best Sushi in Ventura County
What do you think? Looking for birthday sushi - lunch. Traditional Japanese style is best. Don;t need the fancy roll thing. Thanks.
I will take LA suggestions as well, but I am in Ojai, so Ventura County is best
Sushi from Ojai to the Central Coast
Birthday this week. Looking for a sushi lunch, preferably a traditional Japanese style restaurant. I am not into the fancy rolls. I live in Ojai and am willing to travel up to a couple of hours for delicious sushi. Great sushi in Santa Barbara is probably ideal. I am aware of Atari-ya in Santa Maria, but I am wondering if I can do just as well closer to Ojai. (I know, there is always LA)
Santa Barbara, 1 lunch and 1 dinner for 1
Now I want a rajas
Looks like it's a trip to SB soon for us
Oh how I love the rajas. It's the combination of the herbs with the peppers and cheese that does it for me
Solvang/Santa Barbara restaurant suggestions for east coast foodie couple
We hit up Renaud's for the first time today.
OMGosh! Yum! Pain au chocolate - my favorite all time sweet.
So, apparently Renaud is connected to 3 locations, the 2 on State Street, and they have recently acquired Cafe Luna in Summerland. We are going to check that out soon for lunch.

I will second your choices of McConnell's and La Superica (have not been to Renauds yet). If they have the tamale with chicken and mole at Superica the day you are there, get it. Oh, and the chicken sopes. Those 2 items are both specials, so they are not always available. Also Superica is closed on Wednesdays. The rajas is my other must have.
SD..Where's your favorite place to get a Chile Relleno?
I used to get them at Bety's Tacos in Encinitas
Santa Barbara, Carmel by the Sea, Monterey Bay any recs?
My Super Rica favs are
#6 - the Rajas - the herbs combined with the cheese and peppers - so freakin addictively yummy
#16 as mentioned
#7 alambre de filete - grilled tri tip with onions and bell peppers
and the chicken sopes when they have them
Eating Adventures in Ojai and Beyond
Had another great meal at Om Fusion of Thai tonight.
Found out that they deliver as well. :)
The Saltwater Eel Master (or, The Easygoing Anti-Sushi Nazi of Kaito Sushi) (San Diego) [Review] w/ Pics!
I would like to comment on the cost issue with regards to Kaito that has been discussed here on this thread. We have dined there, my sweetie and I, for under $40/pp tax & tip included, but we do not consume alcohol. Just wanted to add this as we have always left feeling full and satisfied and have felt the cost was an extreme value based on the quality of the sushi.
Oh Kaito how we miss you up here in Ojai. There is nothing that can compare. Makes me want to jump in my car and drive the three hours south to dine there.
Eating Adventures in Ojai and Beyond
We ate at Om Fusion of Thai in Oak View last night. This is going to be a regular spot for us, I am sure of it. The food was great and very reasonably priced. They have a dinner special - soup or salad, fried wonton, thai eggroll, choice of entree with beef, chicken, pork, or tofu for $9.95 ($12.95 if you want shrimp). Many choices as far as the entrees go. I had the basil mint leaves with beef, my sweetie had the ginger root with chicken. Very good food, really nice and friendly owner who took it over about 15 months ago.
The restaurant was packed when we were there, it is smallish inside, open kitchen in the back, seating for maybe 30 people total or something like that.
Same special deal for lunch, but with lunch prices (can not remember exactly what they were)
The menu itself is extensive, many dishes beyond what are offered on the dinner specials page.
Loved it!

Carpinteria Eats - The List
We ate lunch at GiannFranco's today, and it was awesome. I could go back for dinner tonight. YUM
I had gnocchi - chicken, basil, sun dried tomato, peas in a light, creamy red sauce
My sweetie had a shell pasta with a wine sauce with shrimp and broccoli florets and something (can't remember)
My sister had the Milano panini -chicken, tomato, avocado, provolone, basil aioli
all super fabulous
One of the men at a table across from us was eating lobster ravioli *drool*
Also, we met Franco & Giovanni (Father & Son respectively) - really great to meet them, talk with them, feel and hear their vision
trip to No. County San Diego
Agree with all of cgfan's recs
I would choose the Solana Beach location for the Beach Grass over the Encinitas one as well.
Bety's Tacos has TABLE SERVICE! Geeesh. How many time do I have to say it? lol I love Bety's and miss it bad now that I live somewhere else.
Eating Adventures in Ojai and Beyond
We had lunch at Vesta right in town last week. I had a salad and my sweetie a panini and we shared the sweet potato fries. We really liked it. We dined on the patio in the back of the restaurant in the center of the arcade.
We felt like it was really good food and affordable. They are open until 6pm right now.
