Breakfast/Brunch in Culver City/El Segundo/Marina Del Rey?

My parents are in town and staying out by LAX. Instead of them coming back to Santa Monica before their early afternoon flight, my wife and I wanted to take them to brunch in Culver City and/or El Segundo, Marina del Rey. Any suggestions for breakfast/brunch??

Any thoughts on dinner at Akasha

I absolutely recommed this resaurant. I lived in San Francisco for eight years and this could eaily be located in the South of Market Area. It has a very industrial chic feel and while certainly busy it was not to the point of being unable to move.

It is split into two sides. The first is the bakery which I am sure does a good trade in the day. The second area is where the restaurant is located. It holds I would guess about 60 people and while the tables are close there is definitely enough room be comfortable.

Food-wise I loved it. My wife and I split the humus which was served with olives on top and pizza "bread" . The bread was crispy where it should be and soft where is expected. I am not a humus fan but this had a fantastic flavor and I would recommend. We spoke to the couple next to us and they mentioned that the ahi lettuce wraps were amazing. For the main course we we had the scallops and a turkey burger. Both were cooked to perfection with amazingly fresh ingredients. I am one of those people who eats whatever is in front of me and I have to say the portion sizes were perfect. I can highly recommend either dish.

The wine selection is not 75 pages of wines, but rather a few very good reasonably priced selections. Most are served by the glass with most prices int the $10 to $16 range.

Desert was also amazing we split a portion of the carrott cake with tangerine ice cream.

We spent $110 for two with a couple of glasses of wine. I am a huge fan of Violet and while the food is different I would say if you like it you will like Akasha. I would say I am considerate of planet Earth but it was great to find a place that has amazing food that is actually healthy.

I hope this helps.

A good ole fashioned butcher

Having grown up in England I miss having a local butcher who could always be counted on to give good advice for selecting meats. I live in Sanata Monica and have been very lucky living near Santa Monica Seafood but just curious if there is a meat equivalent in the SM / West LA area.

Le Cinq ??

I am open to any options you might have. My heart is not set to Le Cinq. For this meal I am looking for amazing food and yes a little "pomp and circumstance"

Le Cinq ??

My wife and I and her parents are off to Paris in 6 weeks. We are looking for a "special" dinner while we are there. I am very interested in Le Cinq at the Georges V as we are staying next door and have heard rave reviews. Just curious if anyone has any thoughts or other ideas. I shouldn't say that money is no object but we are willing to pay if it is worth it.

Eat Your way through LA

So some friends and I are looking to spend a day experiencing as much cheap gastronomic goodness as we can find. The loose rules are we are looking to spend probably no more than $20 for each meal and they should either be LA landmarks or local to LA. Thoughts so far are :

Breakfast - The Pantry
Lunch - Pinks, Canters, Phillipes
Dinner - Titos Tacos, Senor Fish, Roscoes.

Chains are ok if they are LA only chains such as Roscoes. Any ideas for snack places are also welcomed. We are located mostly on the west side so would probably like to end up that way but are open to most anything in the Downtown / Santa Monica / West Ho / West LA area.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

I miss Tia Juana

Ok so I am just curious if anyone has any recommondations for a good inexpensive sitdown mexican restaurant in the Santa Monica / West LA area. To give you an idea I used to love Tia Juana on Olympic. While the food wasn't spectacular it was solid with good family service, tasty margaritas and fresh tortillas. It wasn't a Friday or Saturday night place as much as somewhere great to relax on a work evening. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated
