Any great breakfast places in Plainview, Huntington or nearby?
I too like Munday's, though I have never been to Toast. Munday's can seem pedestrian if you go after the breakfast specials are over. A few weeks ago I had their Linzer french toast and it was delish, if a little sweet... Everything is fresh and good. Not my experience at diners on LI....
Found: French Macarons (Huntington, LI)
They also have them at Copenhagen in Northport.
Casseroles ......... bring 'em on!
I made this Tuna Casserole recipe from Chow and it was really good. It does not use condensed soup.

Would it bother you if a restaurant surrepitiously recorded your dining experience?
A restaurant is not a public place. It is as private as my home. It is my premise and I can ask you to leave, as the owner, becasue I feel like it. You have no "right" to be there unless I say it is okay.
Ate at Italian restaurant this weekend and they only offered bottled water - sparkling or flat
Can I ask a stupid question? Just because that is the choice they offer, does not mean there are not other choices. Did anyone ask for tap? I have been to plenty of places that try this, but, being a New Yorker, I just as obnoxiously ask for NY city's finest. And I get it.
Terrific Chinese on Nassau/Queens Border (just off Cross Island Pkwy)
We're going. THanks for reco.
Weekly menu planning, how do you go about it?
You are my idol. Your planning is amazing!
Need Turkey Wings - Nassau Suffolk, LI
Please forgive me if this is obvious - where can I find several pounds of turkey wings on LI? I need them for make-ahead gravy so need about eight pounds and have not seen these anywhere.
Rec's for Irish Pub that can accommodate party for Moms 80th Birthday
I highly recommend Shandon Court in East Islip. It would be a little out of your way for Nassau but they have private rooms, really nice food, Irish music, real Irish accents and plenty of craic.
Thanksgiving Make-Aheads
I would love your gravy recipe and the creamed onions, a favorite of my mother.
Swedish Meatballs in a crock pot??
I am curious about the rest of your menu. I'd like to do a New Year's Day open house and would love to hear of any of your favorite recipes.
Need good food (ethnic preferrably)but kid friendly in Long island
The red lentil soup is excellent at Pita House. The lamajun not so much. But everything else I have tried is very good.
NEW turkey brining question! Any experts on-line?
I think you are fine to brine a half turkey. One hint that I have learned though is to brine 2 days ahead. Then rinse and let the bird sit uncovered in a refrigerator 1 day ahead so the skin will be dry and get nice and brown when roasting. I use Alton Brown's brine recipe form food tv and this has not failed me yet.
White Bear – My Favorite Dumplings in NY
Went by there last Wednesday at around 3:30pm and they were closed. Do they close on Wednesdays?
Funniest Thing a Server Said to You
We don't give up the button - we just keep a few mini cans of Ginger ALe in the fridge.
What's in your child's lunchbox?
I put leftover pizza in a Warm And Tote wrapped in parchment paper and my very picky eater really likes this when the school is serving pretend pizza on Friday. He is a simple little man so i also give him a sandwich, a yogurt that has been frozen so it is nice at lunchtime a fruit and a mini Hershey. We all need moderation.
My cheat for my daughter who will eat anything and hates sandwhiches is that some days, when the leftovers are scarce, I heat up a Lean Cusine and put half in a Thermos. Also very popular are th frozen dumplings - we have a brand called Nature's Promise from stop and shop. She likes lots of variety so a little salad, a few chips, some salsa, carrots with dip, etc, etc.
If i make tuna or salmon salad for my son, it's in a container and have taught him to make his own sandwich. Hate squishy tuna.
Getting a six-pack delivered to a home in Buffalo
Or call a local pizza delivery place. They will probably do it if the recipient has ID.

rotisserie chicken?
I am not a huge Food Network or Giada fan but i made her Chicken Florentine Style with a rotisserie chicken and all ate it up happily. Just ignored all the info re cooking the chicken and went from there. Delicious and easy.

What to Feed my Finicky Five-year Old?
hehehehehe I'm going to try that on my seven year old. Perhaps with an intermezzo of lima beans.
Risotto Recipe from many eons ago on Chowhound
Thank you so much! I searched for old posts but could not find it. How can I do this?
Risotto Recipe from many eons ago on Chowhound
Does anyone have a copy of this classic post? I do not remeber the names of the Chowhounds involved :-( Someone posted a recipe for a risotto and was very specific about the ingredients (which were not run of the mill) and the technique. I think it included bleu cheese of some kind. Then another chowhound made the recipe with many modifications and posted his result. His post was very funny and listed every modification and was framed as a post that we must all keep secret from the original Chowhound. Does anyone know how I could track it down? Thanks
Blow their sox off killer appetizer needed for Memorial Day BBQ
Ooh I like your idea of grilling. Going to try that next time :-)
Try with the basil leaf. I really like that touch.
Blow their sox off killer appetizer needed for Memorial Day BBQ
I make these and everybody loves them. And I mean loves them! If you have not had them, you can't figure out what they are and even my "plain food is best", "no herbs" mom really likes them. If you have a helper, make a little assembly line. I have frozen a bunch before baking and they are great pulled out of the freezer.

I modidify by using plain goat cheese, wrapping the dates in half stripof bacon and baking in the oven until the bacon looks cooked. I've also used plain old pitted dates from a container.
