New to Nassau...WHAT IS GOOD???

Hello,
I am new to the Nassau county area by way of Chicago and have not had really any good dining experiences thus far. I don't know many people and the places I have been told to try have not been that good. Are there any authentic Greek/Spanish food places? I notice a lot ( A LOT) of chains and Italian restaurants which seem to serve the same things everywhere. So I guess my question is simple: what are the absolute best places to eat on Long Island? Cheap, expensive, doesn't matter, I just want good!!!

Bolo

I am going to several other locally owned and operated restaurants. I have heard good things about Bolo and wanted to try it. Plus, im a sucker for the Food Network...

Hmmm, that sounds like a disaster! I would be going for lunch, do you guys still recommend I make a reservation?

Has anyone been to Bobby Flay's Bolo? I am heading to NYC in the beginning of August and out of all of his restaurants, this one looked the most appealing, menu wise.

Pancakes in Philly

I have been looking at "best of" lists and I usually see the Down Home Diner listed as one of the best breakfasts. Though, after what you guys have said here, I am not sure I will be trying it out!

Pancakes in Philly

Man all of these delicious suggestions are making me hungry! :-) I have heard really good things about Sabrina's and also Down Home Diner. I have THREE mornings there, so hopefully each day can be a different pancake adventure!

Pancakes in Philly

I am looking for the BEST place in Philly to eat pancakes. I am a pancake fanatic and I am looking for something original--not just your buttermilk pancakes. Help please!

Post your favorite Trader Joe's item!

Oh man! I love Trader Joe's. I am originally from Chicago but am currently located in upstate New York, where there is NO Trader Joe's anywhere!
Favorite items include: garlic feta and white cheddar soy crisps, dried granny smith apples, seasoned turbot, peanut butter filled pretzels, gruyere cheese and prosciutto tart, cinnamon pita chips, and the spanakopita.

My life seems to be one big perpetual diet, so I rarely let myself go loose and buy things that look delicious but I just have never tried. I should really get on that!

Good Food in Syracuse?

Has anyone been to the Blue Tusk in Syracuse? I was looking at their menu and it looked great!

Any decent eats near Watertown, NY (way upstate)?

TPG is, IMHO, the best restaurant really anywhere around the general area...nothing really comes close. I hear the Indian place is very good, my family has gone many times and has enjoyed it. I personally am not a fan of Indian food, so I wouldn't really know! I think that Suk Hui Hi's Korean food is pretty great, considering there is really no authentic Korean food in town. I also have been to this place in Adams (I believe it was Adams), called Cafe Miro that was pretty great. The owners, who have been there both times, are kind of over bearing and in your face, but the food is good.
Other than that, there aren't really any other places in Watertown I really want to eat...which is kind of sad. I wish some better restaurants would open up! NO more chains!

Yummy Food in Philly

I am going to be in Philly for about a day and a half next month to see the Decemberists at the Mann Center. Since this is sort of a birthday trip, we're making a stop at Morimoto, despite some mediocre reviews (but come on, Iron Chef Morimoto! How can we miss it?)...but what are some other good places? I am not necessarily talking expensive...some cool hole in the wall type places that locals tend to frequent would be great. We would need a place for breakfast and lunch and we are both adventurous eaters!

Cheap but yummy eating in Ottawa

Thank you guys so much for the suggestions. The map is great and it seems like this place is in the heart of the market and there will be some great places around. The Black Tomato sounds the most appealing right now, but everything looks good

Thanks again!

Cheap but yummy eating in Ottawa

Me and my friend are going to be attending a concert in Ottawa coming up soon at Zaphod Beeblebrox (27 York Street) and we're looking for a cheap but good place to eat in that relative vicinity.

My friend isn't really a fan of Japanese, Chinese, or Thai (shame!)...but other than that we are open to pretty much anything

Thanks!

Good Food in Syracuse?

I have been living in the Syracuse area for quite some time and have found it a bit difficult to find good restaurants. I am not saying that Syracuse is completely bereft of some quality cuisine but it definitely seems to be lacking considering it is a larger city and caters to quite the diverse population.

So, if I am missing all the good ones, what ARE the good restaurants. And please, don't tell me Dinosaur BBQ! Sure it's good, but I don't think it is all it's cracked up to be and shouldn't be the flagship of Syracuse cuisine. For instance: are there any good Greek (not just holes in the wall that serve microwaved gyros?), Spanish restaurants? Or some good Chinese? There are definitely some quality Mexican places, Japanese places, and a few Thai places, but I am really looking for something new.

Please help!
