Local mail order sweets and treats?

I'm not a huge chocolate person but everyone that I've ever brought a gift to from Chocolate Therapy says it's the best chocolate, highly recommend them!

I agree with you. The website design and restaurant name feels like a typical afterwork office crowd that would serve a good burger and drinks. The eastern Mediterranean menu is a bit bizarre. I wonder how that will do in that neighborhood.

Cooking meat without a grill

I had gas, and agree with you, cast iron on electric just isn't the same

Cooking meat without a grill

When I was in the city and didn't have a grill I used a nice heavy cast iron type grill pan, I think mine was of the Mario Batali line but I know le creuset makes one also. The only issue I ran into with the grill pan vs the George forman is the grill pan smoked more probably because it got to a higher temp than the George foreman.

Vietnamese Restaurant Rec

So I used to frequent Xinh Xinh in Chinatown for their Pho Sate Dac Biet (House special spicy sate noodle soup) and now that they are closed with no news of reopening I'm wondering what other restaurants are doing a great version of this? Any recommendations would be welcome.

Bday Room Rental--Boston and Surrounding Towns

Silvertone has a nice private room and does great cocktails, the restaurant and room is below street level and has a very cozy feel to it which would be good on a November night. Also, went to a similar party as you're trying to plan at Scholars in downtown crossing, we had a private space on the balcony overlooking the rest of the bar, about 30 people, it was good. Not very cocktail themed mostly beer but was a nice space.

Food to go -- as in to the airport

J. Pace is an excellent Italian market/grocer/sandwich shop that is nearby that's really good. Also, if you are willing to take a cab roughly 25 bucks to the airport (10 minutes) you could have time for a sit down meal anywhere in the seaport area.

Between Haverhill and Boston

I like Red Heat tavern in Wilmington, right off 93. The food is very good, great beer selection and is casual.

SE Mass: New Bedford, Fall River, Fairhaven, Westport...nearby RI

In Fairhaven, Jakes Diner for breakfast, Elizabeths or Margarets for dinner. Turk's in Mattapoisett for great seafood. In New Bedford, cork for good tapas and wine.

McDonald’s now sells lobster rolls in New England

Not going to take one for the team on this one, just like I won't be getting a tuna sandwich at dunkins.

I have heard people speak highly of the lobster rolls at d'angelos but haven't ever had one.

Solo Dinner in San Francisco

I'm based in Boston but find myself in San Francisco a lot for work and usually we do group dinners at steakhouses. When I'm by myself though I like to branch out from the usual business steakhouse dinner. I've been going to Cockscomb pretty much monthly since they've opened when I'm in town and I absolutely love it. I'm just wondering, am I missing out on anything else great? I dine solo and prefer to sit at a bar, price isn't an option and neither is location (I usually stay in Union Square), for cuisine type I'm open to anything except Italian and would prefer a fancier type of place. Any recommendations, any places I'm really missing out on? Thanks

Soup Kitchen

how about juicing it into pineapple juice and serving it with the soup, the vitamins and nutrients in the juice might be well served on the clientele

First trip to Boston

JustGlad2BeHere, hope you enjoy your time in boston. Boston is a very small city so don't feel intimidated by recommendations for places in Cambridge, Sommerville, West Roxbury etc, all short cab or uber rides away (10-15 minutes max). For local history attractions the Gardner Museum is great, the Boston Atheneaum is a very overlooked place but it's amazing (a private library right by the state house with a great art collection they offer tours I think on Saturdays only), plus all the usual sites listed in the guidebooks are good. For Irish pubs in the area the druid, mr dooleys, amrheins are all high on my list. Also check out the bell in hand, I think it's the oldest bar in America.

For the Fourth of July you might want to call the hotel and ask what they would recommend. Also, check out the Museum of Science they have a private room that might have an event for the fourth that you could buy tickets for, same with the state room at 60 State St.

I travel to Houston all the time so I'll definitely be asking for recommendations!

Best price on wild salmon?

I saw it on sale in a flyer at Kylers Catch in New Bedford for $19.99/lb, it's wild king salmon out of Alaska.

Sunday Brunch near Logan-accessible T line

I would recommend taking the silver line, that can put you right into the seaport where I think most of the restaurants there offer brunch

Good restaurant with nice bar area?

bergamot has a small bar and great food and is very close to Inman

Dinner near the convention center

I'm going to be in town tomorrow night and looking to grab dinner, I'm staying near the convention center and will be dining solo so I would prefer to eat at a bar. Anything within walking distance that I shouldn't miss, this will be my first time in Austin. Open to any type of cuisine, cost isn't an issue. I travel for work a lot so I eat at a lot of steakhouses so I'm open to that if its a truly amazing don't miss out on place, but would prefer something that's more local and has absolutely amazing food. Thanks!

Washington square tavern is right there and nice. The fireplace has a very nice bar. For beer you have the publick house. Also the drinks at Golden Temple are excellent, great tiki drinks and well poured non Polynesian drinks

The Return of Swordfish

I'm located near the heart of the atlantic swordfishing fleet so we eat a lot of it. At home we usually just take the steak salt and pepper and then do a spread of mayo on it and put it on the grill, 5-7 minutes a side at 350.

Yelp for Pure Entertainment: Erbaluce

Thanks for the post, this made for a great mid afternoon laugh. I know it's usually frowned upon in the PR world for a chef/owner to comment back but I loved his replies to these reviews and reading them made me want to high five him.
