Drinks near Ribelle?

Washington square tavern is right there and nice. The fireplace has a very nice bar. For beer you have the publick house. Also the drinks at Golden Temple are excellent, great tiki drinks and well poured non Polynesian drinks

The Return of Swordfish

I'm located near the heart of the atlantic swordfishing fleet so we eat a lot of it. At home we usually just take the steak salt and pepper and then do a spread of mayo on it and put it on the grill, 5-7 minutes a side at 350.

Yelp for Pure Entertainment: Erbaluce

I found that one astounding too, to create that much of a disturbance and then complain!

Yelp for Pure Entertainment: Erbaluce

Thanks for the post, this made for a great mid afternoon laugh. I know it's usually frowned upon in the PR world for a chef/owner to comment back but I loved his replies to these reviews and reading them made me want to high five him.

Steakhouse Houston Downtown

I'm staying at the new JW Marriott in downtown Houston on Main Street and would like some advice. Looking for a nice dinner for business and we tend to go to steakhouses and noticed, Vic and Anthony's, Mortons, and III Forks are nearby. Any recommendation for one over the other. I've eaten at Mortons many times and am familiar with them but never at the other two. Thanks.

Skimpy Pours?

As an avid martini drinker and frequent business traveler I find some variation in drink size across the country. It usually comes down to the bartender doing a measured pour using a jigger vs doing it freehand. I think the drinks, especially minimalist drinks like martinis come out better when freehand poured. In a state like Utah that requires measured and auto pourers I never order a martini because it does come out skimpy. The most liberal pours have been at steakhouses and expense account places. Out of curiosity I've never seen a cosmo on the rocks but if they took it from a martini glass and did a straight pour I could see how it would look small. I'm not a big cosmo drinker having only tried it a few times but the cucumber sounds like an interesting twist.

Drinks at Brick and Mortar for grown ladies (long)

I had to google a lion's tail, it sounds intriguing but rather complex, is this a drink that most bartenders know how to make in and around Boston. It's something I'd like to try.

If You Could Clone a Boston Area Restaurant Space, Which Would It Be?

The long gone Icarus, that room just felt perfect. Also, I think Aquitaine in the south end hits it out of the park when it comes to setting and feel of a room. I was at Aquitaine several years ago during a snow storm with almost a foot of snow on the ground and still coming down and the warmth felt in that space was incredible, made for a great setting

Healthy, filling soups/stews for repeat lunches

how about a twist on a Portuguese kale soup, you could leave out the linguica and it would just be chicken stock with a ton of kale in it, maybe add some mushrooms or white beans.

Tempe Dinner Rec's

Looking for some dinner recommendations for a dinner next week, i'll be flying solo and would prefer to eat at the bar of a restaurant. My preference would be seafood since it'll be ash Wednesday. I'm staying at the residence inn downtown/university in Tempe. Also any good bar recommendations. Saw good things about house of tricks and casey moore's oyster house, any thoughts on those? Open to all types of cuisine and price isn't an issue. Thanks!

Solo Dinner San Antonio

Hi,
I'm going to be in San Antonio for work and am looking for a good restaurant to have dinner in by myself. I prefer to eat at the bar when dining alone. I'll be staying at the Marriot Rivercenter and would like to be able to walk to dinner. Price isn't an issue. Ideally I'd like something authentic to San Antonio seeing as I'm from New England. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Boston: gifts of food for the non-cook?

Jeni's splendid ice cream would be a great gift. I've done it before, just order online and they send it packed with dry ice to keep it cold. The people I sent it to went nuts about how good it was. www.jenis.com
