Christmas eve in miami

Pardon my ignorance, but I know that many cultures do a traditional meal on Christmas Eve. I am going to be in Miami on Christmas eve, and was thinking it would be fun to go for whatever the traditional cuban meal is. I have done this several times with Italian food in new york, to great success.

Can someone recommend a restaurant?

I just wanted to bring this to the top, to see if anyone else had any good recommendations. I need to do some serious studying, and the space makes a huge difference, so please let me know you favorite spot.

please help me find good grub near union square

So twice a week, from now till June, I am spending two nights a week at Sutter & powell. Frankly the food options I have found for fast, take out style food are seriously lacking. That is why I am turning to you, chow hounds. Please help me find food, and maybe a decent non-touristy bar. Thank you

Seeking a clean, well lit place... to study and work

Hi,
I am pretty sure that someone must have asked this before, but I was wondering if anyone could recommend coffee shops to work in. I've been to ritual a few times, but would like to branch out. I live in Hayes Valley, but am willing to travel for a good work experience. As for what I think are pre-requisites great coffee, power and wi-fi come to mind. Other than that, good food is nice. Cute people does not hurt. Other co-workers are nice as well. Anyway, thanks for your time, and I hope to hear from you.

Late(r) dinning on the Penninsula

I work odd hours, and was hoping that someone might be able to suggest some resturants that are open late in and around Palo Alto.

Suggestions for graduation dinner

So in a few weeks I have a double graduation, and that means, among many things, the need to set up graduation dinners for family members coming in. I am just not sure where to go. I live in Hyde Park, but the family is staying in the loop, and we have kids, grandparents who only like things that have been cooked till they are throughly dead, a vegetarian, and people on practically every diet known to man.

So, can people suggest some places?

smoothies

Can anyone recommend a place to get smoothies?

Resturants/Coffee Shops etc near the John C. Lincoln Hospital (PHX)

it is the one on dunlap. Sorry for the confusion.

Resturants/Coffee Shops etc near the John C. Lincoln Hospital (PHX)

Over the coming weeks and months my family members and I will be spending a lot of time in and around the John C. Lincoln hospital. However I, and most of my family, is not from Phoenix or the Valley more generally. If any local hounds could recommend places, especially those that are open early or late, I would be extremely grateful.

Lunch/Dunch in and around the main post office (clark and adams)?

I have actually been to all the places that you mentioned, so I was wondering about maybe more off the beaten path kinda places. Also, I was hoping for ethnic (mexican/asian)... any ideas?

Southside Thai

I second the thoughts on hyde park... by my count there are at least 4 thai places in HP

Lunch/Dunch in and around the main post office (clark and adams)?

Do people have ideas for lunch in and around Clark and Adams? Me and GF need to get passports renewed at the main post office and will want to do lunch/dunch, but want to avoid chain places like cosi etc. We will have a car, which helps. Any ideas?

First Trip To Boka

Went last night, right after steppenwolf, and was able to grab a 2-top without waiting, which was really nice. To start I had the polenta, which was nice and the GF had mixed greens with pears, which were over seasoned. Then I had the duck, and she had the salmon. The duck breast was cooked perfectly, and the confet was excellent. Her salmon was brilliantly done. We had a side of portobello's which were not worth 9 bucks...

For desert, I had the white chocolate panna cotta and she had the macaroon. The panna cotta was nice, but it needed more white chocolate. It had curry thrown in there for heat, but I would think that mexican peppers would do a better job... that is just my take. I found out an interesting fact though, that the pastry chefs at boka and blackbird are married, which given that at blackbird last week I had curry sorbet, makes a lot of sense. the gf's macarron was amazing, and the entire desert was top notch. Better than what we had at Hot Chocolate, although HC is a great resturant, any way you slice it, and might have the best deserts in the city...

Non-Bar late night hangout

I was looking for a late night spot, to get coffee, desert, or a milkshake in the near north side or, ideally, the south loop. Any ideas?

Breakfast/Brunch in Evanston

Can people recommend a good place for brunch in Evanston? Le Peep and Clarke's do not really cut the mustard, and I do not want to schlep to Bongo room.

So, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a really authentic Mexican restaurant. I like Nuevo Leon, and have been there several times, but was looking for something new. Thanks

Late night places with dessert/coffee

I am trying to find a place that has good coffee drinks and desserts that is open in at midnight... I know of the dinners, like clark's, but was hoping that some chowhounds might have more chow worthy locales up their sleeves.

Thank you for your help. If people have any other suggestions, I would really like to hear them.

Driving from Chi-Town to MSP... Any chow worthy spots?

I am driving from Chi-town to MSP right after christmas, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about chow worthy spots on the way, or that would be only slight detours (or, as I like to say, culinary adventures)
