cocktails w/ rose syrup?

A sweet friend gave me a bottle of homemade rose syrup. Any suggestions for cocktails to use it in?

You could also make maple pecans as a bar snack to go w/ them :)

Best Peach Nectar for a Bellini

I haven't actually done this so can't vouch for it but heard the way to do it was to order the white peach puree from perfectpuree.com

Can I throw my old ice cream maker in the trash?

Thanks all! I will probably just trash it. I use the goodwill tactic myself sometimes but have started to feel guilty about it...

Can I throw my old ice cream maker in the trash?

I have an electric ice cream maker with a freezer bowl. I lost the paddle and it is too old to get a replacement part, so the thing is now unusable. Anyone know can I just toss it in the trash, or is the freezer bowl considered hazardous waste?

Saturday lunch & "sightseeing" in Albuquerque

Thanks so much! I'll try and remember to report back!

Saturday lunch & "sightseeing" in Albuquerque

I'm going to have about 4 hours to kill after dropping someone off at ABQ before returning for my own flight the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Looking for suggestions for lunch, and it'd be great to find a place in an interesting part of town where I could walk around a little and feel like I've seen a bit of Albuquerque. A hip neighborhood or shopping strip, or maybe the University? I'll be spending Thanksgiving w/ family in Santa Fe so won't have seen anything of ABQ.

From browsing the boards so far I have on my maybes list:
Frontier
El Patio
The Grove

Thanks in advance for any advice

Best liquor stores in SEA

Great idea. I'll be going through Portland soon - any specific stores to recommend?

PDX - what's good and open all afternoon?

Probably mid week, Wednesday or Thursday.... Thanks everyone for the great tips, I'll put them in my file!

PDX - what's good and open all afternoon?

Planning to drive down to Portland from Seattle in a few weeks - sometimes it takes us too long to get going and I arrive in the midafternoon, too late to catch lunch at any of the spots on my list. Usually end up at a McMenamin's. Any superior options for a bite to eat in the deadzone between lunch and dinner? Also interested in late night suggestions.

cooking steel-cut oats overnight in slow cooker

I use a slow cooker but find that overnight is just too long even on the lowest setting, so I plug mine into one of those cheap kitchen timers so it just cooks for a couple hours. You'll probably have to play with the timing / amount of liquid etc. for your particular cooker.

Eugene - Sat. lunch/brunch for 10

Passing through Eugene in a couple Saturdays for a quick family get together, is there a good lunch spot that could handle a crowd?

SEA brunch: anyone doing anything unusual/distinctive?

Monsoon.

Great Food Products in Washington

The Greenlake PCC @ Aurora & Winona has it.

Cantaloupe Ice Cream

There's a recipe for cantaloupe sorbet in perfect scoop.

2 gals catching up in Seattle

Haven't been there but isn't Dinette supposed to be good? And it's not cutting edge but I love 611 Supreme for crepes & cocktails. And I second via tribunali.

PDX - inexpensive group dinner incl teens?

Having dinner with a group of 10 family members in Portland on Friday. My partner will probably end up picking up the check so would like to keep it reasonable, thinking perhaps an upscale brewpub or the like, but there will be teenagers with us so need to find someplace that allows minors. Any suggestions? We'll be staying downtown, but mobile.

Pizza w/ an egg

Don't know if it is on the menu every day but I've had it at serious pie

Punch ideas

Want to make some punch for a party this weekend. Would be great if I could use up this jar of peach nectar I don't know what to do with in the process. Any advice? Ideas sans peach OK too.
