Also check out The Cornish Pasty Co. in Tempe. Not ethnic, but mighty tasty and within your budget.

Pet Friendly Restaurant Patios-Phoenix Area
Postino welcomes dogs on the patio. They always bring out a bowl of water and occasionally a little treat from the kitchen. I have gotten a few funny looks from other diners, but for the most part people seem to enjoy seeing dogs there.
Best Phoenix Croissant?
MJ croissants are great (available most days at LGO). Oh, and I like the spinach-feta croissant at AJ's :)
soy milk vs whole milk
I have successfully used UNSWEETENED Silk (in a green carton) and Trader Joe's unsweetened Soy Milk for creamy sauces and soups.
Restaurants Near Paradise Valley/Scottsdale AZ
La Grande Orange would be a good choice for breakfast or lunch. It is not too far from your hotel, and if you take a cab you won't have to worry about valet parking :) Maybe The Sanctuary has bikes you can borrow?? A bike ride + coffee and breakfast at LGO would make for an enjoyable morning.

Phoenix 'Hounds ... who makes the Valley's best chocolate chip cookies?
I LOVE the "Better" cookie from Tammie Coe. It as both dark and milk chocolate, as well as a little oatmeal. Really good!
Source for Amarena Fabbri cherries in Phx?
I have seen Amarena cherries at Trader Joes. They won't be in the traditional ceramic crock, just a glass jar. I haven't had the TJ's brand, so I can't comment on how the quality compares.
Scottsdale Bakery and Cupcake Company
Just fyi... I went to Sprinkles last week (around 1:30 on Thursday), and had no line. I was in and out in less than five minutes. I tried the carrot and the vanilla milk chocolate. Both were excellent. Definitely the best bakery cupcakes I have had. And now I look forward to trying the cinnamon roll and maybe a pie from Scottsdale Bakery!
Looking for a place with great salads (PHX)
I love the salads at Ticoz. The chopped salad is my favorite. The service sucks, but the salads rock. And I can highly recommend the passionfruit mojito =D
Flavored Peanut Butters
PB Loco does have an apricot PB. Unless it has been very recently dicontinued.
Monterrey: wine shopping
Thanks for the response, Gail. We are driving from Phoenix with two large dogs, so no room for wine! I have found the wine shops in Carmel to be pretty small and specialized and/or very pricey. We are planning on making a trip into Monterrey to stock up on some basic grocery items and wine, thinking that we will find a broader selection and better prices.
Monterrey: wine shopping
I am in search of a good wine shop in Monterrey or the surrounding area. I will need to stock up on a month's supply of wine for an upcoming stay in Carmel. I am looking for a nice selection of wines in the price range of about $15 - $40. I prefer smaller producers, but I am not looking for anything too hard-to-come-by. Thanks and Cheers!

Several spots facing LGO are 19 minutes. The ones facing 40th St are unmarked.
Please help me find a great bakery for b-day cake (PHX)
Oh, and I agree on the Tammy Coe cakes, very pretty but just ok taste-wise.
Please help me find a great bakery for b-day cake (PHX)
I can second that the pumpkin choc chip muffins are delicious. They are available every day at LGO. I also really like the blackberry bran muffin. It sounds kinda healthy, but I'm pretty sure it's not :)
Suggestions for a 50th anniversary celebration (phoenix)
Sassi's wine room is beautiful. Also, Tarbell's has a private room, but it seems a little dark and closet-like to me. Mosaic would be a great choice, too.

Pho/Tempe/Scott romantic rec
I don't think Coronado Cafe is a bad choice, it has just never "wowed" me. It is more of a 'in the neighborhood on a thursday evening' sort of place for me. I whole-heartedly agree with the Quiessence rec, and I would also encourage you to check out Lisa G's. I find the atmosphere very romantic in the evening with all of the candles. Also, it is a good spot for just dessert if you like to restaurant hop.

West of Western - thoughts/your favs
The cherry lemon mascarpone focaccia sounds so good! I called Simply Bread to see if they would have this (maybe for Easter), but they said it was only for the event. Bummer.
Scottsdale - need rec for 1 dinner
Does anybody have any experience requesting a vegetarian entree at Methode? The menu looks pretty "meaty", but otherwise seems like a place I might like.
Can I like Brussel Sprouts?
I cut each sprout in half, then wrap up in a foil packet with some sweet onion, butter, salt, and pepper. Then I put the packet on the grill for about 8 minutes. I like this better than roasting because they stay more moist but still get a little caramelized.

Grilling cheese from Cyprus
My first experience with Halloumi was about four years ago at Mosaic restaurant in Scottsdale, AZ. The preparation was wonderful and I have managed to duplicate it at home a few times. I warm slices of Halloumi in a cast iron skillet, then serve with a spinach--parsley pesto, some strips of roasted red pepper, nicoise olives, and thin slices of grilled bread.
brazilian condensed milk covered strawberry?
I can of sweetened condensed milk and 1 tablespoon of butter. Stir over medium heat until it thickens a bit (you will be able to see the bottom of the pan). Let cool. If you add 2 tablespoons of cocoa while cooking, and then roll the cooled mixture into balls, they are called "brigadeiro"
Which flavors go with this soup?
Here's an idea for you... Bruschetta instead of sandwiches :D Make a variety: pesto, roasted red pepper, and goat cheese; canellini bean and sundried tomato; ricotta, dates and pistachios; apple and brie... The possibilities are endless!
Fruits that can be used in Pies?
I, too, am a big fan of galettes. They are so much easier, and I like that I can make it smaller than a normal pie. The two of us couldn't, and probably shouldn't, finish a whole pie before it goes soggy and bad.
A favorite of mine is apple and dried cherry. Just soften the dried (tart) cherries is a little hot water before adding to your apple mixture.
I have also seen recipes for grape pies, but have never made myself.
