Most Romantic Restaurant in the City

I’m in search of a nice romantic restaurant to celebrate a one year anniversary. I’d like to avoid prices such as Per Se, but I’m totally willing to spend at least 100 a person (even more depending on the place).

I think Italian is a great menu choice, but I’d be open to almost anything.

So far I’ve been thinking:

Lupa
August
Spigolo

What else?

Dress Code and what not to miss at Sfoglia?

Going to Sfoglia tonight. Is there a dress code or what should a guy where (jeans and a sports coat, suit w/ no tie, etc.).

Also, it's special night for my wife and I, are there any menu items that are not to be missed?

Thanks.

All You Can Eat Sushi (or good Monday deal)

I need a recommendation for an all you can eat sushi place in Chelsea (or west village/union square, but prefer Chelsea).

If it’s not all you can eat, at least some sort of “deal” or “special” on Monday nights.

This is a request more for quantity than quality, but I’d prefer that the place be flat out terrible.

Feels like Little Owl, but can handle a group

Peasent could be a good option too. While the don't take reservations downstairs, I think that is a much more charming atmosphere. They open at 7 and if you got there at 7, I'm sure you'd be fine (imagine long bench, communial tables in a french/itailian barn style. Good lighting too.

Non-NOBU sushi?

I'm a fan of Bond St. and you can usually sit downstairs w/o reservations. That being said, it's much more of a "scene" than serious sushi place.

Kid Friendly Spots in Manhattan

Does anyone have recomendations for kid friendly places in mid-town, preferably on the east side. The kids are 4 and 6 and well behaved.

Spotted Pig wait times?

I’ve been to the spotted pig on a few occasions where they told us the wait time would be upwards to 2 hours (and that was for a table for two). That being said, I firmly believe they employ the scare tactic of telling people the time is about twice as long as it really is going to be.

All that being said, the spotted pig is a little over hyped in my opinion and there are plenty of other good spots where you don’t have to wait hours for a table.

Italian UES (high 80s or low 90s)

Spigolo
1561 2nd Ave
At 81st St
Phone: 212-744-1100

My wife and I ate here for our aniversary. Fantastic. It's a little small and there is NO waiting room. The "bar" is basically two stools, but the food was great. We had the tasting menu and the chef was very understanding to substitutions based on my wife's allergies. Good place.

Tex-Mex in the City

I know Ah Chihuaha! very well and they are good. I think they closed though.

Tex-Mex in the City

Okay, I’m looking for some Tex-Mex suggestion in NYC. I’ve lived here for almost 6 years now and I’m constantly looking for a good bowl of queso and a decent enchilada or taco. So far, my best bet is Lobo out in Brooklyn but I’m a little tired of the train.

Can anyone provide some Tex-Mex suggestions in Manhattan? When I say anyone, I really mean only those who are experienced in the realm of Tex-Mex (not to offend those who aren't). I'm looking for a suggestion from someone from Texas or maybe New Mexico…I’d even take an Okie’s recommendation at this point.

I’m looking for a place that serves Mexican food the way it should be - as a combination platter with rice and beans for under $15.00.

Thanks!

Rub or Hill Country????

I went to Hill Country on opening night and it was pretty good. The only problem is that ordering was a little confusing. They ran out of brisket and a few other meats, but what I had was really good. I'm from Texas and it met my expectations. I'd say eat there now b/c I'm not sure NYC will support a BBQ place of that size - it's huge.

Rub was not my cup of tea.

Hill Country BBQ -- Opening Tonight?

Has anyone heard if the long awaited Hill Country BBQ is opening tonight? I heard it's opening tonight but I'm unable to confirm. Called the number but only got an answering machine.
