Looking for upscale dinner suitable for all ages
Hi,
Local family, looking for an excellent restaurant to celebrate mother's 70th birthday. Parents have been to most great restaurants, enjoy all kind of food but prefer not too meaty meals (so no pied de cochon, joe beef...), and grand kids (13 an 16 years old girls) like meat, fish and seafood (with a special love for oysters), but will not want to try anything with seaweed, topinambours, ris de veau, or any other ingredient they haven't seen before in a supermarket (which, unfortunately, takes out Les 400 Coups, which would have been my 1st choice)... Thanks for your help!
Bouillon Bilk - 1595 Boulevard Saint-Laurent
It's my new favorite in the area for lunch. Was there again today, the salad was exquisite (mix of cabbage, cranberries + other stuff I don't remember, in light creamy dressing), the cavatelli was very good - i didn't like the pasta itself too much, but the sauce was to die for - delicate but very tasty. I've also had the poutine with dinde confite, which was not my favorite (turkey was too fatty for my taste), the tartar is excellent, service is attentive without being too eager. The only thing I'm not too happy about is that their + 4$ option now only covers the soup or salad of the day, not any appetizer like it used to, which made it one of the nicest bargains in town.
recommendations in St Lucia?
Hello All, my husband and I are going to St Lucia shortly for a week. We're staying at the Coco Palm in Rodney Bay. We're looking for recommendations, all types of food and all budgets, as we'll have 7 lunches and 7 dinners to fill. We'd prefer restaurants within walking distance, ie in Rodney Bay, but will surely tour the island so other spots would also be appreciated. Many thanks!
Downtown Ottawa suggestions please, lunch and dinner
Thanks everyone, this is very useful and looks delicious:-) now I'll need to use the gym to work off those scones...
Downtown Ottawa suggestions please, lunch and dinner
I'll be staying part of October and all of November in Ottawa for work, will be staying dowtown (Minto or Marriott probably, not sure yet), I prefer walking but will have a car most of the time.
I like everything (French, Italian, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Lebanese, Indian...), but I'm not a big meat eater (small portions of good cuts is fine by me, forget sausages). I've never had an amazing restaurant experience in Ottawa (except for A'Roma, which I really liked the few times I went) but then again I haven't tried that many places either:-)...
Many thanks!
Anniversary Dinner in Old Montreal area
i like version laurent godbout, but don't find it's in the same category as europea ou chasse et pêche (haven't yet been to la montée, so can't tell). enjoy your anniversary:-)
any good food all-inclusives in playa del carmen or around?
i stayed at the royal del carmen 1 1/2 year ago, food was much better that what you usually get at an all-inclusive and service was excellent, if that's helpful...

Good dinner suggestions around Edison
My husband and I will be spending 5 days in NYC shortly, staying at the Sheraton in Edison NJ. Would like suggestions around Edison for a few dinners, when we might want to try something outside of Manhattan. We have a car and like everything (husband not so keen on asian but I can always try to convince him), with a preference for French and Italian. We like to hear ourselves talk, so no very loud places, and we love good wine. Any ideas??? Merci beaucoup!
great food and ambiance for xmas in cancun/riviera maya

Nice, reasonable restaurants in old montreal?
If you do want to walk to Old Montreal (which can be a very nice 15-20 minutes walk), I suggest L'Épicier, Version Laurent Godbout, Aszu and Boris Bistro. Enjoy!
yorkville bistro fare
Been back a few days, did try Dimmi first dinner, as described: nice, nothing exceptional but good food and nice patio on a gorgeous evening, and Caren's wine bistro the second evening: Wonderful back patio, loved the setting, food was also very good (although I found there could have been more choices on the menu, but small point). Thank you all for your suggestions and I'll keep them in mind for my next trip.
yorkville bistro fare
Haven't gone yet, am leaving tomorrow at noon on the train from montréal, so will enjoy one meal tomorrow and quite a few more MOnday and Tuesday. I'll let you know what I thought after I come back on Wednesday!
Where to buy sashimi-grade fish?
I've always been very pleased with the freshness of the fish at René Marchand & Fils in St-Lambert. No the cheapest, but I guess you can't really expect first grade quality with bargain basement prices.
yorkville bistro fare
Thanks to you all, I'll make a note of your suggestions. Enjoy your weekend !
Coaticook ice cream
don't know about chagnon but my girls (and me too, must admit) love the maple sugar coaticook ice cream, which i can find on a semi-regular basis at the iga in st-lambert. as for the mediteranne yoghourt, tried the caramel one, really enjoyed it, although a bit on the pricey side.
yorkville bistro fare
Montréal foodie soon in Toronto for a few days, will be staying at the Four Seasons in Yorkville, looking for good, unpretentious bistro fare, italian or other restaurant where I can get good wine by the glass near my hotel (i want to travel by foot from the hotel), preferably with patio. thanks!
