Gluten Free Menu's - Phoenix

Here are some of our favorites:
Atlas Bistro doesn't have a GF menu but they are very knowledgeable, and can adapt with great results.
NOCA also doesn't have a GF menu but will adapt and have been very good.
Kai was able to give my wife grilled gluten-free bread, and we didn't advise them about GF it before hand -- pricey but well worth it!
Elote in Sedona also does a good job, with most menu items gluten-free already
Pizza Picazzo has a full GF menu, including appetizers, desserts and beer
There is a new GF bakery in Sedona -- Sedona Sweet Arts. Great carrot cake, choc chip cookies, biscotti, etc.
There is also a new GF bakery in Flagstaff (with representation at Sedona Farmers Market) called Big Ring Bakery. Very good bagels and bread.
Sprouts does a pretty good job having many GF items, and they have a 25% off sale on all GF items several times a year.
Julia's GF desserts are available at the GF Store in Gilbert, and they are spectacular!
The Barrio Cafe on 16th Street is also very much gluten-free aware, with great food.
There are several Barro's pizza parlor that serve GF pizza that is OK.

Need Recommendations for Sante Fe NM Trip

We had some high hopes to find some great restaurants in Santa Fe -- thanks for all of the good suggestions. We hit The Shed for dinner, and the green chile enchiladas were good, not great. Pretty good salsa and guacamole.

For breakfast, we chose something close by (Bagelmania) before we started out of town. Pretty standard and reasonably priced, but nothing special. Wanted to try one of these suggestions for lunch, but got caught out of town touring some interesting places.

For our second night, we looked over the menu at Geronimo's, among some other choices, but found the tapas menu at El Farol very interesting, so we made reservations there. The food and service were outstanding, along with the patio dining. We had a leisurely dinner, especially enjoying the Ceviche de Atun (tuna), Puerco Asado (pork tenderloin with figs), Caldo Pescado (saffron-potato soup!), Gambas Parilladas (grilled shrimp with mango-chipotle cream sauce), and Aguacate (crispy fried avocado). Our leisurely walk down Canyon Road was very pleasant, with some very nice gardens, fountains, sculptures, etc.

We looked over the menu at Jennifer James 101 in Albuquerque, and were almost tempted to drive down there from Santa Fe for dinner, but our trip was cut short. Will make sure to stop in on our next trip.

Had to leave the next morning, and thought about trying to get in to Cafe Pasqual, but opted to get out early so we could come back home. The last two hours without air conditioning was brutal, so we were glad that we had started early.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. So many places to try and so little time, but next time we will be armed and ready.

Need Recommendations for Sante Fe NM Trip

Thanks for all of the great options!

Now comes the difficult task to try and decide on which ones will get the nod. It sounds like The Shed for sure, and probably Geronimo. We need to do some more research on menus, etc. before we make any more choices.

Need Recommendations for Sante Fe NM Trip

We will be traveling from Phoenix to Santa Fe in a few weeks, and wanted to find out some chowish recommendations for meals that represent the unique foods and flavors of the area. We would like a few lunch choices, a few dinner recommendations, with one "special" celebration dinner. Special entrees that we shouldn't miss are a plus.

If there is a special favorite restaurant in either Taos or ABQ, we might be up for that as well.

Thanks.

Has Anyone Tried Brushfire Grill (Gilbert, AZ)?

We are going to the Brushfire Grill tomorrow evening for dinner and wondered if anyone has been there, and could give us some info about the food, ambiance, etc.

Gluten Free Menu's - Phoenix

My wife is a Celiac and we have been able to find more and more restaurants that are knowledgeable about gluten-free food. It sounds like you have found a few good restaurants, but there are quite a few more. If you go to the Gluten Free Creations website (http://www.glutenfreecreations.com/index.php?page=19, they have a list of restaurants that they supply with gluten-free products. Sprouts also sells their products. Los Sombreros has a list of gluten-free entrees and appetizers on their website, although they didn't seem to have a gluten-free menu when we ate there a few days ago (actually pretty good food, counter to some of the recent Chowhound traffic).

We have also found some recent restaurant ads that have a wheat-free banner. One that we tried recently that was exceptional in both food and price was Lyte Lounge and Bistro (Scottsdale, ). We dropped in early (~ 6:00 PM) and got happy hour prices on a very nice Lobster tapas dinner for $15!

There is also a restaurant called MackDaddys that advertises wheat-free, salt-free and sugar-free. When we called them, they told us that they did not use any types of wheat in their recipes, but they may not be gluten-free. We aim to try them out this weekend. Pomodoro's used to have gluten-free pasta, but at least one of their restaurants has stopped serving it (not sure if that is valley-wide or not).

You can also go to http://www.glutenfreerestaurants.org/adv_search.php and do a search. They list specific addresses for these restaurants: Outback Steakhouse, Carraba's, and Bonefish Grill so it may not be universal.

PHX: Urban Campfire is still open

My wife and I were there on Friday early, and there was only one other party inside when we got there. I had the ribs and my wife had the pulled pork sandwich, with sides of potato salad, beans and fries. The ribs were probably the best overall that I have ever had, nice and meaty, crispy on the outside and very tender (not fall off the bone tender but very nice). It has been a long time that I was able to get a beer for under $2 (maybe not the best selection, but still pretty good with the ribs and sides). We took home more than we ate, and we ate a lot! The sides were also very tasty (not your typical BBQ place sides).

We don't live close at all, but we will make the trip from east Mesa, as long as they stay open. Nice place, great food and at a very reasonable price. I am looking forward to some more of the ribs today, and may still have some left over.

Where do you buy wine? (PHX)

AZ Wine has a special 10% case discount going until Saturday, mix and match. South store only, anything off the shelf.

Are there any Restaurants in St. Louis With a Gluten-free Menu?

Thanks for the recommendations. We were able to find a website (http://www.bscsg.org/ ) that has quite a bit of information on restaurants in St. Louis that deal with gluten-free meals.

I wasn't able to find out anything about gluten-free restaurants on the www.enabling.org website, but thanks for the suggestion.

We had a wonderful meal at the Vietnamese restaurant Mai Lee, and they were able to deal with gluten-free options nicely.

Are there any Restaurants in St. Louis With a Gluten-free Menu?

I am an AZ hound and wanted to find out if there are any restaurants in the St. Louis metropolitan area that have a gluten-free (GF) menu. My wife is a Celiac, so she can't eat anything that has wheat, oats, rye or barley, or anything made from them. At times, going out to a restaurant can be very difficult, but we have managed at home by keeping a list of restaurants that understand this situation, and have found quite a few restaurants with a special GF menu (appetizers, entrees, desserts and drinks).

Can anyone assist us? We will have a car and will be staying at several places around St. Louis and St. Charles, so we can go just about anywhere, and we like all kinds of foods.

Thanks for your help.

Pizza Picazzo - Scottsdale

They also have restaurants in Chandler, Sedona and Flagstaff, and have a full gluten-free menu (pretty hard to find) that includes desserts, beer, etc. We have finally found a nice restaurant that my wife (who also has celiac disease) can enjoy her "pizza and beer", without trying to do it at home.

We haven't tried the Caesar Salad, but some of the other salads are tasty.
