Danbury
That'd be Arrivederci also on 37 (about 2 minutes from American Pie on the other side of the road). Never been, just drive by it on my way home. Yelp has some good reviews for it. I'd guess that most people would go to New Fairfield, New Milford, or Danbury for a night out.
I wouldn't count on delivery in Sherman - I may be wrong, but there doesn't seem to be too many options.
Danbury
I've never been but Adrienne's in New Miford gets good reviews (from Sherman take 37 to 7 - about 10 minutes from American Pie).
STATION EATS... NEW CANAAN, STAMFORD... HOW IS IT?
Never been but if you go to webe108.com and click their restaurant of the week tab (as of today 5/15/12) you can get a $50 gift certificate for $25. (I say your title and realized that I just saw a coupon for them today).
Casual Steakhouse?
So my family and I will be taking the train into NYC on Sunday. Jeans and sneakers are the uniform of the day as we'll be doing a lot of walking. Can anyone recommend a steak house that is casual enough for our dress? We can take a cab if needed so location isn't a big deal.
Coming To San Francisco around New Years Eve
The Grubstake (on Pine & Polk) was featured on DDD a year or so ago. Diner food with a Portugese menu.
Halfway between Hartford and Manhattan?
There's a Pepe's in Danbury as well. Depending on what route is taken to Manhattan (I'd go 84 to 684 myself - save the i95 headache).
Peking Duck House - Orange CT good eats
FYI - theres a groupon for them today. $25 for $12.
Looking for a Manero's type Gorgonzola Dressing
It was a vinagrette type with gorgonzola and something else that made it go "wow". The website for the mass produce one (which they admit was "enhanced" through the years) has the ingredients of soybean oil, vinegar, garlic, salt, pepper and seasoning. But knowing me, if I tried just mixing that I'd make a bad version of a store brand.
Looking for a Manero's type Gorgonzola Dressing
I don't know if anyone remembers Manero's (in Westport, CT but I think there were a few), but they had this great Gorgonzola salad dressing that I loved (we're talking way back before gorgonzola was as popular as it is today). Does anyone have a recipie for a clone of that or just a really outstanding gorgonzola dressing (yes, Manero's does sell theirs online but I don't think it would be as good as it was all those years ago).?
Ice Cream
If Danbury (Il Bacio) or Newtown (Ferris Farms) isn't too far, I'd recommend either of those (starting with Il Bacio).
Fresh corn tortillas-Danbury
I believe Stew Leonards makes their own fresh in the store. Never had them so I can't comment on them, but I remember seeing them at one point.
favorite pasta salads
It's nothing fancy at all, but here goes my favorite (via my wife). Pasta (rotini), a can of tuna, chopped green olives, and mayo. Mix all together, let sit, add some more mayo and serve.
CSA Help: Drowning in Peppers.
My mom used to cut the tops (and seed out) bell peppers then freeze them. Then whenever she wanted stuffed peppers she'd just stuff them (being frozen made them easier to stuff) and bake.
Best Doughnuts in CT?
This may be blasphemy, and I'm sure I'll get burned for it, but the bakery at Big Y (in New Milford anyway) actually makes some fine doughnuts - consistently moist and tasty and full of goodness.
My opinion anyway.
newb question 3 - Additives. better wine thru Chemistry?
I'm sort of a noob too, but it was my understanding that sugar is routinely added to champagne. Also, I believe some wines will use fining agents (i.e. egg whites) to clarify wine - not sure if those are disclosed or not.
Cheap Eats Danbury?
I also saw a new place that caught my eye. Kibberia on Mill Plain Rd.
http://www.kibberia.net/
Haven't been but I'm always up for some middle eastern food (and 98q currently has coupons on them so I'll try it).
Best ice cream shop in Fairfield County?
I second Il Bacio. I'd also recommend their soft ice cream and italian ices to the above listing. Just really good stuff all around.
Cheap Eats Danbury?
My recent go to cheap eats is Royal Guard Fish & Chips (and Indian Food & Fried Chicken) on Main Street in Danbury.
Love the fish & chips. Indian food is pretty good (I don't have much to compare it too, but I like it). Have yet to do the fried chicken.

98-year-old needs to gain weight, doesn't eat enough: Food suggestions
From what I've heard it's fat soluble so it can easily be incorporated into butter and/or cooked with (i.e. brownies, cookies, high fat foods). Issues would occur with dosing (where to draw the line between functional grandma and stoned grandma).
Italian food for a bunch of 8 year olds...
My daughter had to do the same thing (school project). We made anisette cookies (fairly easy to do, travels well, tastes good, fun project).
California dessert wine
Lot18 (lot18.com) currently has 2001 Robert Mondavi Winery Botrytis 375mL Pair for $55. I can't speak for that wine but the description is:
"The sweet, opulent flavors unfold into impossibly decadent layers of honeyed apricot, ripe guava, citrus, orange blossom and crème brûlée. There is a wonderful note of toasted Tahitian vanilla and spice from an extended period of barrel fermentation in French Oak. This is a fantastic pairing for the simplest of foods such as fresh summer fruits with honey, to the richest and most decadent of crème brûlées, flans and crème carmels."
I'm a big fan of lot18.
Weird, unusual, bizarre, or unconventional restaurants
It's been about 8 years, but I don't recall any stripteases (that verywell may have changed). Just dancing. Food was decent, tapas style - overpriced but you're paying for the "show" as well. It was a fun enough time.
Weird, unusual, bizarre, or unconventional restaurants
Hands down (for me anyway - a east cost conservative) Asia SF (San Francisco).

Serafina coming to White Plains
Let us know how it is. My go to Italian place in WP is Francesco's - don't know if this can compare.
Looking for the best hamburger restaurant
It may be nostalgia, or booze, but I like the burgers at the Grubstake on Pine & Polk. Especially the nugget burger.
broths and soups for liquid diet
Is there a broth, bullion or stock that would taste ok on it's own? - what about Miso?
Sparkling Red Wine
There's a Portuguese sparkling red - Alianca Tinto Bruto. Easy drinking red. Not heavy or desserty as some of the others referenced above. And if I recall, none too expensive, but I've only seen it once.
Need some new everyday Speigelau wine glasses - red. Need recs
I get about one e-mail a day whenenver they put new stuff on. So far no junk emails. Typically 90+ rated wines from $16 - $50 bottle (so far) that retail for (est) 25-$90 bottle. Shipping is included on 4 or more bottles, though they have done some 0.01 shipping in the past. I've ordered 4 different wines from them and all came within 10 days (shipped to my work).
For me I use it to pick up some higher priced wines I wouldn't normally get (and not feel too guilty about drinking them).
